A very effective weapon against our SADF Ratel infantry fighting vehicles in Angola. Deployed in both ground attack and anti aircraft roles during the bush war but a terrifying weapon to face in lightly armoured vehicles.

I'm an infanteer in the current SANDF and we are still using those same Ratels without any change to the armour. Hell even the special forces are using the 23mm on their technicals. Very mobile and deadly weapon to have in the hands of a highly mobile force like SF.

Where I was stationed in Iraq, there was a huge pile of brand new twin auto cannons. Still in cosmoline. A friend and I took two of them back to our company area. Those cannon were mounted closer together so I believe they may have been designed for aircraft use. We wanted to bring one back to display at our unit but our company commander wouldn't let us.

Range is a bit low, those grenades are timed to explode in 3 seconds and travel around 700 meters per second, also propably doesn't make even a scratch on a tank... but seriously deadly against bit lighter armoured vehicles, helicopters etc, and infantry aswell.

Ok that was impressive. 23mil. Is a nasty weapon they had 2 of them in that MIG. It was so powerful if you fired it under 200mph the plane would stall. Lol.

Iraqi and Afghan units used these like crazy, what's even funnier is how many are used by the Iraqi POLICE vs their Army.
