Ex-Melbourne 'Bobtail' AEC Regal III 352 is moved around at Leichhardt

Many vehicles of the marvellous Sydney Bus Museum collection are rarely seen and heard running.
The mass move-out and re-arrangement at Leichhardt depot - the new home of the SBM - of 9 June 2012 afforded me a rare chance to photograph and film vehicles otherwise only seen static previously.
The Regal sounds well, with engine note just right - but fancy such a notable individual using the gear change pedal as a clutch (unmistakeable 'jumps' into and out of gear by doing so are clearly visible to those who know pre-selectors). Tish tish......
A wonderful bus and well done to all - not only my friend Bottle - for saving such a gem.
Grateful thanks to friends at the Sydney Bus Museum who kindly allowed me to come along to photograph and film these rare gems from their wonderful collection being moved, some for the first time in many years. My aim is to raise awareness of this priceless collection and by so doing, to contribute to the future wellbeing and longevity of this uniquely large collection of mostly 'ex-pat' UK chassis that have made Australia their home.

These were the days when buses were buses, there was one very similar to this in Christchurch many years ago, in the early 19 60's.

used to travel on these MMTB buses decades ago. i recall the sound of that engine. those were the days of the conductor with paper tickets where we bought only what we needed.

I discovered an Aec mk111 parked in someone's front yard in Ferntree Gully VIC. Can't seem to find any information online about it. Hoping to meet the owner. Registered ET437. Has anyone done a feature on the Aec Matador in the background. I've been meaning to get along to the museum but always closed when I'm in Sydney
