Thank you so much for the tips, i think I've been scammed thru UPWORK because i was asked to pay 20$ for a security Identity card to link my account too the companies, And because times are tough and we try everything just to get by to provide for our families, unfortunately it happend to me... your guidelines to these online jobs/projects applications made me very cautious and im grateful. Everything should be done through the app. There’s already a chat feature in up work. There should be no need to move on to another chatting service.
@Lord Submissive if there’s a video call feature, messaging feature, and voice call feature all in UpWork, why would you ever need to move to email or anything else? You are supposed to stay on upwork so you have the protection. By going elsewhere, you’re literally just asking to be scammed. Seriously, just stay on the app.

I just got my first response from a potential client and I was very excited until I read that I was to contact a 3rd party on WhatApp. Not even the person who contacted me in Upwork, but another individual, with no first name and a very common last name: think "Williams" in the United States. Very suspicious.

Should I ever c8 with any client on telegram by providing client’s id link on upwork message box?Or should I only c8 on message box.
so i got engaged on one job, as data entry...i didnt manage to finish, i openely told them i couldnt finish upon the projected time. From the agreement, I was not supposed to get paid. So they asked for my paypal details, i sent then they sent me proof of payment, actually a full payment of the job i had applied for. On that document, there was a notion that the payment was not succesful because my paypal account was not linked with their bank payment server. so they asked for my ID photo, email and I have to pay for ID verification fee. I didnt reply them after that, cause that raised my eyebrows.
I just came across similar jobs. I did 50% of the job which was just converting img to pdf. They sent me full payment, with that same statement. Asked me to send them Id and 250$. When I said I can't, they asked for 150. I am not replying to them now. they just wasted my time.

my friend got scammed recently by a verified client, how can she take action against these kind of frauds so that they don't scam anybody else?
What about if they are saying to message them via telegram meaning a third party is it a scam

hi sir, what if the client wants me to make social media accounts and then use photos of people who doesn't own that accounts like they want me to use photos of aussies who doesn't even known by the owner itself? and that is by making so many social media accounts and emails and he will pay me per emails or account made. is it a scam sir? first of all i think he wants me to use photos from sources in australia that they don't even know i will be using their photos to make it as the profile picture of each email or social media accounts i will create. should i go for it sir? maraming salamat po. :) God bless you more.

It's always the "Simple typing job". They pop up every time in Upwork. When you apply, they will tell you to contact them on Telegram. They also talk all the same lmao

I received an offer letter from a client having not applied. I selected "INTERVIEW" and we he asked me questions about my work history and personal my address and phone number to be documented for a new employee. He is willing to pay a high rate and is sending me a check in the mail to purchase some accounting software. He also says take $200 from the funds he is sending for myself as a "signing on bonus."
What do you think? Scam or not?

I've been scammed more than once on Upwork. I had someone email me a bogus check to buy a laptop to do the work. So glad I checked with my bank before depositing.

I have a question sir. Because im new in upwork. And im a graphic designer. Should i send them the final product ? I mean, because the client wants to have the logo for his company. So i made the logo and send it with my proposal. And later on, i keep waiting and waiting for about 2 or 3 days. Until i checked my proposal and then the project was still 0 interview and 0 hire. don't do work before you make an agreement. but even then it may not work out unless it's hourly. i got scammed recently by a client who refused to work with me after I had done 80% or more of the work. now they have the work, and i have a dispute, and to avoid a negative nellie, i had to give up the dispute (which they would have ignored anyway) .. and if it hit arbitration then i wouldn't have won because they won't side with me if only 80% of the work is done.
