I'm a truck driver, i have LITERALLY witnessed people driving on the interstate with their KNEES whilst holding a cell phone, looking down at it.
Drove for Uber & Lyft in the O.C. area for years. I can't explain just how many accidents I avoided because I could see the JANK coming a mile away. It's almost like a sixth sense; I can spot the megalomaniacal narcissists in their swankmobiles at a glance. I also always remained utterly stone cold calm even when inches were about to matter as I dodged some fool's illegal and sudden swerve across three lanes. 🙄
Humanity sure is classy.
Saw the same thing, especially driving in the Twin Cities, St. Paul/Minneapolis. About the time you think you've seen it all. Quit driving after 13 years and went back to welding.

Can't, they're too much in a hurry in CA. Have to multitask. Eat breakfast, whilst putting on makeup, and texting on the phone during the commute to work. It's a busy lifestyle.

People you cannot multitask. Focus on one thing - your driving!!!
Very true with everything, not just driving. Ability to multitask is a myth. People can attempt multiple tasks at the same time but they won't be the best at any of them.
@@bluenycom Actually you have to multi-task when flying. Fiddling with radios and navigation equipment. These people are dimply getting distracted/engrossed with their stupid phones and are not engaged with their driving; they'd rather be doing anything else. I still mess with my music but when I realize I'm fiddling too much I set the sumbitch down. People on their phone already irritate me simply by not going when the light turns green, clogging up traffic.
@@LGTheOneFreeMan Is it truly multi tasking or more like switching between tasks quickly and efficiently? We CAN be trained pretty well to switch between related tasks to accomplish the bigger task as in flying. We do it all the time.

Ugh, stricter requirements for drivers licenses NOW! His "driving" caused a massive traffic jam AND he is going to swamp and already swamped hospital. Hope he gets HEAVILY fined and license revoked.

yes for sure slow down but you can only slow down so much on a freeway for example so the speeds are, but arent the problem at the same time. the problem is the trailer needs to be overhauled for better safety standards but that would be a very difficult and incomprehensibly expensive, so I get why not much better could have been done on that

HOw fast was this vehicle going, a lot of speed to move that DOT bumper on trailer. The speedometer should be locked in on the speed it was going when it struck the trailer.. speed kills

As a trucker, I see at least 30% of drivers of all vehicles using their phones. Changing a tire on the shoulder or being on a motorcycle or a pedal bike is roulette in Southern Calif with one's life!!!

Split speed limits kill. Had a guy rear-ended my semi on the 60 just passed city of industry in the late 1990s. You can't have folks doing 70+ and larger objects only doing 55 and not expect someone to lose and eyeball.

What’s funny is whenever I’m on the 10 with she’s always loaded with big rigs. I’m constantly on the defense because of the way they zigzag in and out and change lanes without any warning. Some of the truck drivers are worse than the people in cars on their phones.

the trucking industry needs to change up the guards on the trailers. too many deaths, even if it's a small accident.
Did the driver of the pickup live? Also the Mansfield bar can take an impact of 35 miles an hour. We have no information as to if the semi was stopped traveling at speed or what happened when the collision occurred. I am curious how you suggest trucks change up the underride guards. Those are regulated by the NTSB.

Pickup truck drivers should need to get a CDL. So many of them are bought as a luxury status symbol and have no idea how to drive a large vehicle. The fact we let just anybody operate 6,000 lb machines in our public spaces at literal break-neck speeds is actually insane. It's like letting your dog operate your chainsaw. They have no idea how to use it and it endangers everybody around them.
