Have you tried the carrier call-blocking services? Did the services work?
i did... but not sure if that call-blocking service in itself was a gateway for even more spam callers.
In Mexico yes, my Motorola does a great job, but my Samsung does not
The problem is the law, here in Argentina you can register your number in a government website to avoid spam calls, so the companies has to avoid the numbers from that list if they call you they can get sued.
Not at all, I get several a day
In India, you can activate "Do Not Disturb". And phone companies can not spam call u. Regulations in India ensure that. We do get fishing calls sometimes (not by telecom companies, of course), but not spam calls.
Europeans - robocall? What's that??
It's not that they don't exist. But you get them much more rarely. I get them about once a week here in Germany
Never got them here in Croatia 🙂
In the midle East there is No robo calls
I have literally never got one
I get around 2 per month or so. > Netherlands
When you pay off your student debt, only to get a robocall that you need to pay off your student debt.
why you be everywhere
I’m not even in college
Those student loan "people" are like the mob. A giant mafia of robots who will not be blocked.
Student debt, social security breach, extended automobile warranty expiration, free cruise... I get so many of those stupid calls.
You tell em to gtfo
Honestly, at this point i'd be worried if I DIDN'T get spam calls
I'd think I didn't pay my phone bill
Another American problem I'm too European to understand
How come Europeans don‘t have that problem?
@@erifetim EU banned it
Damn I’m moving
Saqeef Iqbal Canadians get them too :(
Saqeef Iqbal except you’re not European. Real Europeans can’t stand you.
I am not aware of robocalls being a thing in Europe, neither I nor any of my friends/family never got a robocall, we very rarely get a telemarketing call but that's it.
In many countries you can opt out. It depends on how many websites / other places you entered your phone number, since if they don't have it, they don't know there's anyone there.
If you get any silent calls from random numbers, this is a robocall probing to see which numbers are active, so if it rings, picks up, or maybe even hangs up, it's possible that it was marked as active
Once again, laws from the 1930's being applied to today's technology, by people who have no idea how technology works.
I never get a robocall in Europe/the U.K.
Same, NL
Alexander Mallinckrodt really
I live in London and often get spam calls but by real humans
It's cause only Americans are gulible enough to get scammed by these kinds of spammers.
@@ubacow7109 What did I ever do you to?
Congrats. You want a medal?
I literally got a robo call while watching this video! 😂
T-Mobile auto labels them as Scam Likely.
I thought that was just the os
BlackCell22....yes, but still wake me up to look who is calling...even when I drive...
@@tamTran-pp4kh Well, you shouldn't be sleeping while you're driving!! ;)
Nope, never had a robocall, here in Europe.
Arthur Mathews same
me neither
How nice for you.
Same
It’s nice to see he’s more relaxed, his hand gestures used to be crazy.
bsfatboy gi meg sist sjanse ikk knuses meg skal reparere alt jeg sverger på mor PG far som døde skal si den er min ok
I have the "Silence Unknown Callers" feature enable on my iPhone. I only use my phone for personal use so I don't really worry about missing a legit call from an unknown number. They can just leave a voicemail. But omg... my life is so much better with this feature. I was receiving about 5-7 calls everyday from robocallers. It was madness.
imagine getting 50 calls per day when you're looking for job interview calls
Nightmare material right there.
Why does he look like Chester Bennington from Linkin Park?
Yes or he was cloned by Justin Timberlake
It's actually a lot easier than it looks all they have to do is get in contact the phone companies and register their phone properly under their company and register every phone number from there on out and the phone company can notify you if it's spam or not as well as if they're verified
*Didn't know that canned meat could use a phone to call you*
As a introvert I hang up on every call I get
*HACKERMAN*
Same here😉😉
hahaha
As an introvert I don't even answer anybody not in my contacts list
🔥 They had the ability to do it a long time ago. They were selling our information to various companies to sell us things we didn't ask for
I’ve had used truecaller for some time but due to some privacy issues I’ve unlisted my number
“fixing that problem is a lot harder than it looks”
laughs in basically every other developed country
I am going to miss seeing my dad responding to spam calls by threatening them
Blocked? They're still calling me everyday
I live in India, I opted for DND, I don't get any robo calls, but I do get few shady calls but from humans on the other end
Why are robocalls only a problem in the USA? Here in Belgium i have never heard of anyone getting robocalled.
Problem in Canada as wel
Since the the Stay at Home Quarantine began, has anyone else noticed that the Robocalls have disappeared?
Why does he grimace so much while talking?
I was wondering the same damn thing lmao
The verge is owned by Verizon. Which may explain why they didn't explain very well how easily the phone companies could stop this nonsense. Of course they make money off of it as it is now, so The phone companies don't
Never got a single robo-call here in Italy :>
What would they scam you for? Spaghetti?
@@svenwagner4270 I mean they should, spaghetti are great man. I still think that fettuccine have the edge though.
The iPhone ringtone at the beginning just gave me a heart attack
Am I the only one who slips into an existential crisis, when they hear the phone ring?
I did noticed getting way less robocalls like once every 2wks or 1 wk instead every few days
I still get them at least once an hour...at all hours of the day and night. I have lost so much sleep because of robocallers, and yes, I changed my number.
Du er ikk noe bedre en meg tenk litt
If you’re with AT&T I highly recommend downloading Call Protect. It’s free and lets you know when you’re receiving spam/telemarketer calls.
You ought to do a video on STIR/SHAKEN protocols for blocking spoofing and robocalls
Oh ajit pai forgot you ever existed
*laughs in Google Pixel*
Jacob Frank laughs in european*
Jacob Frank laughs in iPhone
i feel ya bro. i dont even answer my phones anymore because its almost always robo calls.
Seeing that most spam/telemarketer calls are "auto", why not force the caller to press a number when calling to leave a voicemail? This is typically used for businesses, why not residential and cell phones?
Just answer them once and tell them you work for the FCC. They’ll remove your number from all their future lists. Or do what I do and waste their time whenever they call you. I used to get 5 calls a day from them but now I’ll be lucky to get 1 a week.
I have never heard of robocalls here in Sweden
When I first moved to America, spam calls and texts nearly drove me to insanity..
Why would anyone move there? Albert Einstein moved there but that's because he hated Canada even more.
I got a robo call while watching this video 😂
This seems like an American problem? I never got robo/spam calls in Australia or the UK.
I'm Australian (Sydney) and was getting daily spam calls, now it's mainly spam text messages, so don't know if they changed something in the last 6 months
Google Pixel call screening FTW
Not available in uk
Robocall is like earthquake in India. Just receiving calls from wakeup to bed
What do you mean it "took" That is past tense. They are not blocked yet. Maybe a few are, but I still get many per day on my personal and work phones; each.
This problem doesn't exist in the EU
It doesn‘t. In Germany.
It's so weird reading and watching all this stuff from Europe. We simply don't have robocalls, I literally never got one. The only thing I get maybe once every three years are human telemarketers or someone conducting a phone study. That's it. So it seems like this is one of those many problems that can be avoided without much trouble... if the US just got it together.
Must be nice not getting calls from the rest of the world. And not be viewed as a source of potential income from some third world call center.
Google screening is the best way to get rid of them. I don't have to hear them and they hang up once they realize a machine is talking to a machine. And the number of spam calls has gone way down once I started screening them.
Just checking in, one year later, to see nothing's changed
Is this series coming back?
I never pick up the phone. Even before robocalls were a thing. If it’s that important, they’ll leave a voicemail and I’ll get back
Wait, I’m French, and I had to google « robocall ».
Like, I sometime have telemarketing calls, but with real people, tell them to remove me from their lists, and because they are legally forced to do so, they do, so I don’t really get spam...
So why not have a option where the buyer can get a cell with 100% calls are blocked and owner can program the calls he or she wants in?
Thanks a lot! It was very informative!! That is why I LOVE YOU GUYS! 😍✌🏻
Thank god. India calls me at least 5 times a day.
Ah, robocalls, the reason for two out of three of my in school suspensions.
Don’t ask about the other one.
So very full with condensed info. Thnks🥜
I understand it's a popular video, but you could go into more technical details.
Gotta say I never had this issue in Australia. Ever. I'd never had a robocall. But my Canadian and American numbers are so cooked I just don't answer calls.
I haven’t gotten any of these calls since Verizon released the “Potential Spam” I have had scheduled calls with Apple support and it says “Potential Spam” I haven’t received any other potential spam though.
The "dislikes" are the actual spammers pissed about this information. Or possibly the dislikes are the people who don't get spam calls and want it to fill in their loneliness.
I'm pretty confused... My pixel 3 has been blocking spam calls for a while now. Without a third party app. All I get is a text message saying I missed a call when my phone didn't even ring.
For me the robo calls have decreased but I’m now getting junk texts.
Russell decided to go gangsta and unbuttoned his collar. 😎
Or just buy a google pixel, they automatically screen robo calls by default now
Carrier spam call apps is a separate plan and will cost more money!
I’m feeling very lucky I don’t get these calls, because Canada 🇨🇦 apparently does have a robocall issue. Not sure why I don’t get them... I do have my iPhone set to silence unknown callers just in case.
Google Pixel. Now we even have automatic call screen so when it's wrong I get a notification.
I think it’d just America, because here in Australia we NEVER get robo calls....
How will they prevent number spoofing? Color me sceptical, but I have doubts this will solve the problem.
I literally got a spam call while watching this video
Ever since at&t started this service every call i receive that i dont expect is a spam risk. Woah.
This is why I stopped picking up my phone completely, unless I know the numbers or when someone calls my home telephone
People in the comments saying: i DidNt gEt aNy CaLLs, like the man didn't specifically say 'Americans' within the first 20 seconds of the video.
I don't really get how robocalls can exist in the first place. Do the people who own robocall numbers pay for that number every month with their name and SSI on record? If they are can't they just be banned from the system?
4:10 you can thank me later
I Answer the call and put my phone on mute. Without saying a word. The system has failed us.
just get a phone app that needs someone to call twice to ring, but always leaves a message
Robo calls and spam calls are a bug nuisance 😷
Laughs in Google Pixel Screen Call
misleading title, the title should be United States Telecommunication History.
I still have copper lines for internet at home with speed of 40mbps down
TrueCaller app - at least in Australia. Luckily it’s not as bad here
Australia is still using bloody copper wires
CEO of India is deeply concerned
A good start, but... a robocaller can just drop a "tired" number and get a new one.
I know home phones had Robo call blockers, finally it’s coming on cell phones.
I get between 2-7 calls a day on both my personal and work phones, just the way of life. everyone i know gets them all the time.
I've genuinely never had a robo call... And hardly get any scams, maybe just a handful a year. Is this just Europe (or the Netherlands) being absolutely on it? Or America just terribly messing it up?
Man he got a notch on his head
How does the robot call blocking work with the likes of Google duplex?
I guess u r a loner if ur getting only robocalls
I ended up directing all my calls to voicemail then disabling voicemail. I have no need for talking on the phone!
I suggest public executions. Make the punishment so horrendous that no one would ever want to work for the robo-call company. Offer huge rewards for informing if you think you are working for a robo-call company.
I’ve never gotten a robocall , I’m on sprint
Is he the guy from the samsung commercial?
I have no remorse for the people behind this. We have a 730 billion dollar defense budget. Time to go hunting.
I haven’t watched the video yet, but I bet it has something to do with money. The answer is always money.
Cell providers are in on it.
Those apps require you to add their numbers which won’t work as they keep calling with different numbers everyday so they all pretty much useless and waste of money. For iPhone is easy just set call to contact only so u don’t receive any randoms calls, the only down side is when u r expecting calls from legit places it wouldn’t ring
