Most of those "Pay to Fish" places are well worth the money. They keep the waters stocked with nice size fish and they keep the place very clean. I didn't see one piece of trash in this entire video! And very little to none human activity footprint! Very good! 👍🏼
200 bucks is a joke though. All he got into was some dinks.
@@egregiousblunder5395 Agreed! I didn't realize it cost $200! Was that shown or mentioned in the video? If it was, I missed it. I thought it would have been more like $50 or $60 . That just shows you, I've never paid to fish someplace! Except for Tournament Entry Fees (When I was younger and active). There's absolutely no way I would have paid $200 to fish that place! I "might" pay that down here in Islamorada, FLorida, for an all day excursion with Jimmy Houston. But, as famous and wealthy as he is, why would he need my $200? I am a 100% Disabled Veteran. There are many organizations down here that offer excursions to Disabled Vets for FREE! And that's using their boats and fishing equipment! I gave your comment a big ole "Thumbs Up"!
North Georgia is awesome at stocking all our creeks, streams, and rivers with young trout, SEVERAL times during the season. It provides perfect opportunities for introducing newbies both young and not so young. Taking my daughter down the streams and fishing every tiny ripple and hole hoping to catch even the smallest of trout has given us the best of memories. Teach a kid to fish and they'll eat for a lifetime 😊
NIck, your videos got me back into fishing a few years back, and I am forever grateful. Keep up the great work.
Dude I know I’ve been trying to push ( with my silly comments )some random fish guide here in California to invite you over here.
But maybe I’ll try a different tactic
I think you just need to come vacation out to California and try Northern California fishing. You’d like Lassen volcanic national park and the FISHING! Hat creek, trinity, Deer creek, upper Sacramento River( where it is crystal clear).
I wish you and your fam health. Fish-on.
Hey Nick I would like to see you do a catch and cook video great job on landing those trout .
Flashback pheasant tail. Way to go! Tight lines my man. Keep up the content and can't wait for the farm pond
I'm no expert fisherman,so I watch Nick.
Been a while......but sidearm casting it is hard to lay the fly down softly on the water and much harder to maintain line control.
Tie a tuff of yarn to the leader and practice in the yard.
2:00 to 10:00. Timing it to keep your line tight and the turnover loop small.
On your release just let the rod tip to 9:00 and lay it softly on the water.
Trout make a living eating bugs....the more it acts like one the more fish notice..
Trout season is the best time to be alive.......😎😎😎😎😎
Id love to see you try some tenkara fishing in some tiny creeks like the old days of 618. Love watching your stuff!
The patterns on some of those trout, were absolutely gorgeous!😮
Good one Nicky my brother. You know i look forward to seeing your new content every Thursday. If you don't get time to put one out i check periodically throughout each day until you do. As always enjoyed it! Remember ain't nothing wrong with 3 inches lmbo. Love from the ole hillbilly Kenny, peace and god speed! Later Gator!!!!!
This is exactly how I know it's Thursday afternoon! Nick is my time keeper!! 🤙🤙🤙😎
Great to see you having success with your fly rod!
You make the fly fishing look easy! Those trout were awesome! What a beautiful creek, keep it up Nick!
Love fly fishing. Got hooked on it in highschool. Had a teacher show us how to tie flies. And after a week of practice we went on the river. One teacher six rookie teenagers. Had a blast, caught a few fish. Been fly fishing ever since.
If you want to get good on that fly rod, take it warmwater fishing! Bluegill poppers in a pond (with no obstructions in back) and it'll become second nature. Then streamers for smallies and you'll have line control DOWN!
As soon as I got home from work, I got a notification that Nick posted a video. Perfect way to start my evening.
😂
Absolutely killer editing! Got yourself a new subscriber, Nick!
If you watch his videos from the beginning of his channel you can really see the progression. The power of great editing and music is amazing. Good on you, Nick!
I never miss one of your videos....keep making these, they are very positive, relaxing, entertaining and look like a lot of work.
Another great video and you caught a good amount of rainbow trout! Have a great and safe weekend Nick! See you next adventure!😊
Here's a tip for catching rainbow trout or any trout in general if you want to catch them on flies with your fly rod. Two of my all time favorite flies to use are called black knats and royal coachmans, and they are some excellent flies that have high success rates, *but* they are only successful when the fly uses real feathers on them instead of anything artificial. This is something that I've noticed varies when I buy these flies from different stores, but they are probably some of the greatest fly options that you can ever use, between myself, my dad and my brother we have probably caught over five hundred trout between the three of us over the last five or so years. These flies are also very effective against bass which go crazy for them and we've even had great success for bluegill with them as well. Flies are very versatile and I would consider black knats and royal coachmans to be the best options out there for all of these fish.
4:30 Nick if you just stayed at that spot and really switched up flies to figure out what they were eating you probably could have hooked into way more of them, look at them all lined up at the bottom of that run. Change flies, and depths, often. Make sure your fly is drifting in the zone they are laying in... trout are very lazy but if the right looking bug comes within a few inches of their snout they will be much more likely to grab it. Turn over rocks in the riffles to see what bugs are naturals in the body of water, and put on your closest match. Barring that, use a leech pattern or san jaun worm, trout candy man! I keep hoping one of these days you'll just toss that spinning rod aside and force yourself to learn to fly fish, taking it with you to a place like this is handicapping your learning curve on fly rod for sure. Good luck and tight lines! Would love to take you out trout fishing on the fly in Alberta sometime 🙂
Nice catch, Nick. My bro and I enjoy watching your videos after work. Way to match the hatch.
Glad to see you trout fishing, its a main past time in VA ❤
that looked like a very nice spot to fish, great stuff Nick thanks.
some really nice rainbows, Nick!
Thank you for showing the fly and the lure that worked for you! Drives me crazy when I watch a fishing video and they never even bother to show what is working on them !
Glad to see you using the fly rod more. Lmk when you make it up to MN, will take you to the Driftless area in SE MN area.
Nice video as usual Nick. Personally i don't like much to see this paid places but... A Fishing video of you is ALWAYS worth. ❤
Crazy how many fish were in that hole when you released the fish at 4:31. It was stacked!
Yes! That was nuts. I had to stop and rewatch to make sure I wasn’t seeing things lol.
Beautiful rainbows my friend, great video!
I'm a new fly fisherman but it looked like a beaded pheasant tail nymph variation. Really enjoy your videos, Nick!!! Great job!! See ya later , buddy!
That farm/ranch it's amazing for fishing because many people don't want to pay to fish there it's worth every trip
Flyfishing creeks/rivers is just the best feeling in the world!
Another awesome video well done some really nice fish
As soon as I get “this is Nick from 618 fishing” I get an instant serotonin boost
6:28 looks like the copper john fly. Skams and rainbows hammer them up in michigan
I love to see more fly fishing
When I lived in Alaska, I used a 7/8 weight fly rod to catch silver salmon. Occasionally, I would hook into a monster rainbow. What fun.
I love Thursdays Nick drops the best videos some nice trout
Just remember the fish and in the water. Roll casting is helpful on smaller steams with trees and bushes behind you
Video did not disappoint. Little sad it ended honestly
Have you ever fished the St Marys River in Northern Canada ? It nestled between Lake Superior on one end and runs into lake huron on the down stream…
It seems really worth the money to fish that creek! Plus the area is so darn beautiful ❤️🙏🙏
I've waited almost a year to see you catch a fish on the fly rod,🎉👏👏👏👏congrats
April 1st in Maine begins the fresh water season. Thanks for the inspiration Nick.
Thank you for sharing the artists you chose for your background soundtrack. Would still like to know who does that electric guitar solo you've put on so many of your videos.
Great day! Stick with your flyrod! the fly was a PT (Pheasant Tail) When fishing your flyrod fish by throwing you fly up stream and let it drift down with the current.
I really love your videos. It reminds me when I was growing up with my step-dad. I miss those days
There is so many trout in that creek. It's an amazing experience
It was worth it to me! Great video
If you like traditional tackle more than fly fishing but you still want to fish with a fly you can try to use a bubble bobber and tie a fly on a leader off a berrel swivel
I would say you are making great progress by catching and hooking trout on the fly rod. It took me a bit of time to get good at fly fishing for trout and I had many fishing trips where I caught very little. Fly fishing is sonething that once it clicks it works very well
I’ve fished there twice with a friend and enjoyed it both times.
Fly fishing is fun practice is all I can say cool content
Great fishing!
In Germany we call the trout: "Forelle" 😅😜😂
I think this is a pretty cool german word for english speakers! Try it 🙋
Gold Head Pheasant Tail Nymph was the fly you lost your first fish on, proven trout-killer 👍
Great fishing day baby! Beautiful trout ❤️ I love you!
Thanks for watching honey I love you too! ❤️
Nice catches, I miss that running water since I move back to Florida.
Enjoyed the content Nick💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Great video Nick, always a highlight to my week coming to a close. Thanks again for another great video
Nick glad to see the ol fly rod back in action. As a fly rod fisherman for years myself try not tonreel.the line in you want to hold the line with the hand your rod is in and pull it in with the free hand and dont hold the tip up so high hold it about 45 to 60 degree angles to keep tension on the fish. And next time your at Wal-Mart in the fishing dept if they still sell them get you a Betty green dotted popper fly and have fun bass and bluegill will eat it all day long see ya in the next video buddy
Last fish reminded me of the first rainbow trout I caught in CO. Reeling in to check bait, and the trout hit 6" from the bank.
When you start catch fish with the flyrod, you never go back to spinningrod. At least its a pretty common thing here in Sweden
Nice video as always. Still ice here so I watch you until the ice is gone. :)
Nice spot to see and good catches thanks
I would absolutely pay to catch a few. It's been so slow here. Thanks for the vid, Nick!
Great Video Nick keep up the great work
Keep the rod tip down and strip the line like mad. You will land more fish with a fly rod that way. Looks like a good set up and you have a net. Learn how to rig up double dropper if your state allows 2 flies or more.
Always the best way to end my day, since i dont fish as much as id like
Your content makes me so happy 🎉
I have not fly fished for a really long time. I will say though your technique seems to have really improved. I don’t think your line used to go so straight before. I never used to use the reel to play the fish just pull line and hold against rod. It gets a bit jumpy when netting but my teacher always said a fly reel just stores line. Really nice video, you are as close to fishing as I get now :)
Nick mate you really need to go take a few fly casting lessons see if they cant correct some of the bad habits you have picked up as self taught and help you regain confidence, that first trout you lost on the fly was all down to you changing your mind from standing up and keeping the rod tip high while stripping in the fly line by hand(good) to dropping down to your knees and trying to wind the line onto the reel(bad) you created the slack that allowed the fish to fling the hook.
Be more patient with them and dont try to pull them out the river too quick let them run which is what you should have done with that first one while keeping the tip of your fly rod high and connected to the fight, let them take back that line you stripped in until you have them back playing from the reel and the only time you drop the rod tip is if you feel it about to jump other than that you should be trying to poke the sun out the sky with your rod tip ;)
Nothing works better for creek rainbows than a weightless line set up with nightcrawlers threaded up the line with a worm threader. #Montana
Best fishing channel good stuff
How fun! Trout are fun and generally easier to catch than some other species.
Glad to be the first commenter on my favorite youtube channel
First to like your first 😅
second
@@JohnUSAofficial and first to like your second 🤓
First Saturday of April they release trout at the Hennepin canal in Illinois if your ever interested
All quality fish...worth every cent.
Absolutely killer spot
havent you fished this location before it seems so familiar on your channel
Take your fly rod to a local football or baseball field where you have lots of room and practice practice practice.
Beautiful fish. You could do with a longer handle on your landing net. A telescopic is the sort I use.
Bowfin, catfish, drum and buffalo please
Best thing I can say to get better with your fly rod is practice even when your not by the water
I would love to see you come fish Ohio
Getting your fly in a big ol knot line was great. 😂😂
#618fishing #nick
Awesome video love to not see Carp Nick! Beautiful place too wow 👌👌
Slow down the cast a bit to let the line load on your back cast. You'll eliminate knots and improve accuracy. I raised a fly fishing guide.
I haven't fished for trout in a really long time. That was fun to watch. I think I used an 8 lb or 12 lb line with either a 2 lb or 4 lb or 6 lb leader line. It made it more exciting. You had to finesse the fish in, you couldn't muscle it in or you would snap your line. What weights were your lines?
That's in popohage Missouri I think
Love your videos....I think you need to go to school though on fly rod fish retrieval....
I noticed that the first rainbow trout you caught (after switching to the rainbow trout colored lure) towards the end of the video had a bunch of scratches on it's face. Is that just from swimming through the debris (branches and sticks) in the water and running into rocks? Or are they battle scars from fighting with other fish and quite possibly escaping being eaten by other fish? Just curious what you think of it.
Nice BBBRRRROOOOO BADASS 🤘🏻💪🏻🤘🏻💪🏻
Nice fishing 🎣
As always, your trips are entertaining and inspirational, but please leave your crutch (spinning rod) at home next time. Spend some time and effort mastering your fly rod. The rewards will be immense.
You'll catch more when fly hatch.. Pretty early to use a fly.
Nick, that was AMAZING. i don't understand fly-fishing but it is pretty to watch. Like a ballet. LOL. I am toying with the idea of trying to fish but i don't want to buy anything. Is there such a thing as rent-a-reel? Fishing tutoring? Maybe I better try magnet Fishing instead. Sigh. Still off work from brain surgery January. Looking for more of your talented videography.
I would call that first fly a copper midge or a Copper John fly with wings. Its a classic. Works everywhere.
I noticed on the first two that you landed, it appeared that their gill plates were damaged. Did someone cut a notch out of them?
Great video as always! Who is singing that cover of Rolling Stone? I cant find it!
