One of the greatest things about Jeff is that he's still humble and grounded. The fame has not gotten to him. As of my respect could get any higher for the man, knowing he's good people puts my respect through the roof. This is what being a DJ is all about. Jeff is a legend!
The way the Roots band members just stare in awe of Jeff's skills says it all. Man Jazzy is the GOAT! Someone put my DJ in some bubblewrap!! Just a sick set...
Until you tried to do this routine, you won't appreciate the amount of physical stamina it takes to do it for as long he did. It really strains your arms.

I've seen DJ Jazzy Jeff throw down a countless number of DJ sets over the years, I've watched his LL Cool J and Run DMC routine like it's my homework...Every time I watch him, his timing and the finesse in how he juggles "Peter Piper," is still mind blowing to me. This is decades of practice and experience that it takes to become the incredible performer that he is today. It's delayed gratification in my opinion, I think that in todays world, that is forgotten.

I was there live in Philly for this concert and when DJ Jazzy Jeff starting spinning people in the crowd started getting amped. This was cool for me, because I wore out four of his cds in the 90s into the 2000s. The whole show was spectacular, but this bit was particularly special to me.
Some people don't realize this, but the fact he kept his cuts clean, in all that heat and humidity, with your hands sweating harder than you would be indoors, with a great risk of mechanical failure or at least inconsistencies....and still sounding as clean as he always does the routine...LEGENDARY!
This is the one of the elements of true hiphop THE DJ with a legend performing it. Skills is not necessarily needed but Skills provides a certain voice rhythm for Jeff so when Jeff gets a little tired or needs to be on point Skills can assist him until he catches his wind.
Kid Capri fumbles every time he gets on stage at one of these shows. It's his "signature" move... the he gets on the mic, hypes the crowd and they forget all about it.. his other "signature" move. But he is still a true legend in my book... A better line up would be. Jazzy Jeff, Cash Money, Flash and DJ Spinna
So here it is when we all hear this the emotion that we feel is overwhelming! This is the true essence of hip hop with a legend throwing down the 2 nastiest battle mixes of all times. Am I wrong to say that we feel no different then those that heard a Mozart peice and then hear an artist that is talented enough to re-create their work (not in a studio) and be blow away!? As I watch this video there are plenty in the audience that have no clue to the pure genius that they are witnessing!

The very best TURNTABLIST since the first time I heard him in '84/'85. Jeff was then and still is shockingly down to earth and humble. Love how he pulls up people like Philly's great DJ Spinbad, DJ Cash Money and he even knew what the amazing female MC Spicy T was doing when I asked him (late 90's). Would love to hear her now!!
