The book this is based on describes how basically every meaningful political movement has used at least the threat of violence to achieve its goal - voting rights for women, civil rights movement etc. If you make it clear from the start that you will never actually harm the people you want to change things they have no reason to do anything. If they would do it from the kindness of their hearts they already would have.

Making new solar power plants and windmills is cheaper than using existing coal. Fossil fuel industry gets trillions in subsidies. It's not as if that is a super viable industry next to the hopeless money pit of renewable energy. But fossil fuel industry has been the established industry, with the richest companies in the world, and they just want more money.

But now I’m confused. Are you saying oil puts out radiation ?
Combine the CO2 emissions from burning petroleum with the CO2 and radioactive emissions from coal plants and you can see why they should both be targets.
A pipeline or refinery is probably a better choice as that won't have an instant effect on people who need electricity though. Oil can be bought from other countries. The only real cost would be increased prices, which I'm sure the oil barons will eat the cost of!
How is this movie allowed. As an oilfield worker, this is appalling. Our everyday lives require oil, so why promote something that would jeopardize our lives.

if you’ve read the book it was based on or seen the movie you would know it is calling for destruction of property when necessary, not harm to humans. especially when the property itself is literally killing and poisoning more people than can be counted
