While I don't need the photosensitive and audiosensitive warnings, I give you much respect for adding them.
Definitely. It’s meant I can watch these videos. Literally before the warnings I would be watching n my vision would flip upside down and go dizzy n have massive headaches
I love that too, but at the same time jared does 't wear ear-protection while sanding the welds... Thats a questionable choice he shouldn't make!
Just reinforces what a thoughtful and great human being that guy Jared is. I am so glad that this man is finally getting the recognition he so much deserves. Go Jared!
It's for people who have epilepsy.flash can cause them problems.
@@jerrywilcox9890 well yes that’s epilepsy.. my mum has it real bad. Not under control however I am borderline epileptic, as long as I don’t see rapid flashes I’m ok, with even a second of a flash my vision goes weird n immediate nausea, any more than that I don’t wanna find out what happens. I realise, I went a bit in depth so the context wasn’t there but yeah I don’t know how the nhs get to borderline epileptic but was diagnosed after a skull fracture (of my own doing no less!)
Dunno what you'll end up doing, but if you do with the "fire up top", you should make it discreet, so that when the engine's off, nobody notice. I think it would make a nice effect.
Things have gotten serious😂 this has gotten so fun 🤩
This is definitely a fast setup! When it’s in a fox body….
Why I like you, you actually explain why. You don't just do it, you let us know what is going on. Ty for the great videos.
Both these guys building 8 second cars for this "10 second challenge" 🤣
survey says, ill allow it.
I was going to say. If you want a reliable 10 sec car, build an 8sec car lmao
Beautiful work on the hot side and thank you for sound and the light sensitivity. I really don't have a problem with either but thank you for the one's that do
Make that hood dump and shoot flames out of the hood. Great for video purposes lol
27:12 Best Advice Ever!!! Love Ya Mr. Pink.
Seeing Jared's smile every leap he gains is priceless!! Great job!! For theatrics/ videos, throw it out the hood!! hope to see the end "soon"!!
Those waste gates work amazingly I have the same set. This is starting to turn out real cool Jared.
I'm here for the innuendos. Playing with rear ends and scrubbing pipes.😆
25:32 Jared is so polite talk smack to PFI 😂🎉 LoL
It's not gonna age well...AND I CANT WAIT FOR IT lol
"We're not stacking dimes here, this looks more like jello" hey now, I resemble that remark xD
That engine! That turbo! A reasonable exhaust… why Jared why? Send that bad boy out the wheel well!!!🔥🔥🔥
I agree. The build is already ridiculous. Why not crank it up to 11? 🤣😂🤣😂
Can't wait to see the water pump and belt installed right behind the hot turbo.
I thought the same thing. You can tell it's his first time. The exhaust manifold is not impressive or thought through imo.
I love the idea that you walk through the thought process of putting everything together. A lot of other builders just show the completed build, or just the fabrication.
I would add a custom radiator with more rows. Did that on a 55 Ford with a big block before.
I like the little shout out to Aging Wheels during the eBay advertising.
Somehow I'm under the impression this car won't need a horn so close to the exhaust 🤣 @15:33
I think definitely from above. So you can see it while racing. Plus looks awesome. Love the build man! Keep it up. Best guy to watch with these crazy builds!
Send that exhaust to the sky! You're not making a sleeper, lol.
Also, talk to Kevin Smith, he'll tell you to just use tin foil and not bother with the fancy plugs for back purging 👍
So there is that big foot I kept hearing about on PFI, BTW sweet setup. Love the symmetrical exhaust system.
go crazy with hood exhausts, the car's already nuts as it is, make it even more nuts!
Jared, you’re really laying the PIPE!!
Sincerely, 7th Grade
I watch both channels and I'm so impressed with both builds. Brent has a crew and you have you. I know this is going to be an awesome race..
Your work ethic is extraordinary.Great content as always
24:47 my take, since you're already cutting the hood for the airbox, might as well cut it for exhaust and save yourself the headache of twisting stuff about. Point the two smaller diameter pipes the same way too. Motorcycle collectors might be of help, since the size of those exhausts is ... within the range of the valve's own. You could get one of those, make the smaller diameter pipe meet up and shoot in the normal sized one via that, since it's a short run, it shouldn't have any issues, but you'll only have to cut one hole for it.
This was super useful! So much so, that I watched it again with my son because we’re about to start this same task on our next build. Thanks! 🙏🏻
Shaping up nicely Jared, waste gates down avoids having rain covers, try zirconia linishing belts (the green ones) last double the time of alox ones, loving the time lapse music.
The patience you have to stop your work progress to explain everything is appreciated. I know when I'm into a project I hate interruption or distraction
I would love to come by and just sit in this car and feel the power of it when it is completed or meet you somewhere here in GA.
Keep up the great work and Content.
Thank you my friend hands on rocks I learn so much watching you. Please shot it out of two round pipes out of the hood that would rock
Can't wait to see it done! Keep up the good work!
If you're so keen to keep the weight down low, fire the waste gates UP so they "push" the car cown when venting.
"Every little helps!".
Plus it makes any flames that much easier to see!!
Cool project. Helpful hints. The fill rod you're using looks a little large. Also, it looks like mild steel rod. Also, a gas lens (ideally a fupa, or furrick cup) would greatly help the color of the weld if you care about that. I try to do as much of that type of welding with it attached to the car because it almost always warps. Also welding with the v-band flat on the table uses gravity to your advantage. It naturally let's the weld sink into the V band. Makes stacking dimes a breeze.
Love seeing folks fabricating their own stuff.
Picked up a gas lense for the end, the Vulcan one so it didn’t have the huge cup but man it changed the weld a ton. The rod is a hybrid rod, I tried to go ahead and run a scenario most viewers would end up with, doing it the wrong way, the more correct way possible
@@TheQuestionableGarage Hey. That's cool. I've got a lot of time welding under my belt. Definitely not an expert. Just thought I'd share. Happy to see a positive influence in the car community.
I'm super duper late. But in case it matters.
The turbo exhaust goes directly as possible out the right side fender. Unless the idea is to somehow hide it, just punch a hole and get direct exit happening. The only concern should be paint discoloration/bubbling, and that's where metal tape or something would look kinda awesome. :) Edit: OOH, I got it.. let the paint bubble, then sand it back,, paint with BBQ paint, and stick a titanium plate shaped in a cool shape that'll cover that patch and it'll turn nifty colors as it gets hot. Yeah. Do that. :D
The left and right wastegates need to exit the fenders as well. I *might* be inclined to make the left waste go to the right as a third pipe in the grouping of pipes on that right fender hole, because prettier/cooler lookin', but then it's much easier to punch it out the left side, so either way.
Wrap the pipes because heat is bad. Not just under the cool side of the turbo. Ceracote and wrap too, I'd say, and maybe even also the copper shield. No heat is good heat in that bay/intake.
I'm curious where the alternator is gonna land. Water pump should be electric. Radiator should be fun to see. Use an A/C condenser for the transmission cooler if you need one(Kevin from KSR said it's a good idea...) More capacity, more surface area, more cooling, longer/safer 2 steps... supposedly maybe IDK, I'm an armchair race car builder, don't listen to me or Kevin. :)
Intake concern... IF this is a 'straight in, no intercooler' setup, then I'd make a hole in the hood for the intake and a little scoop that meets up with the hood hole, sealed with a bit of rubber gasket that absolutely mates to the hood hole. And I'd also ensure with a little flanging the rubber meets up with the hole and won't suck in/blow out so the only air coming in is fresh and from up front. I'd also make it so a removable scoop was able to be fitted so if you decided to drag and drive it, you'd have a filter in the scoop for that, then remove it for Serious Business Times. You'd run a tune for that setup, of course, different from the SBT tune.
If it's an intercooler setup, well, that's different, nevermind, you do you and that'll do.
For what ANY of that is worth, probably nothing, and I doubt you even see it, but if ya do, well, nifty. :)
Can't wait to see it runnin' around!
Edit: any who kibitz this, yeah, I already know I'm wrong. But it's still fun to imagine. :)
The ratio of pure content between Jared and Tavarish is roughly 15 to 1.
Sick build, it's turning out better than I thought. For anyone welding stainless at home The thing that helps the most with stainless welding is prep. The wire brush you use to clean it should be used on stainless only, it seems like no matter how much you clean it's never clean enough. There are also 3 kinds of tungsten depending on what your welding. Learn as Much as you can and build your dreams
Flames out the top, so you put a great show at night.
Sand belt? A few scrapes with a half-round file oughta peel those burrs off. One would think those tight corners would just self-destruct a sanding belt. A rotary tool of some sort would work well too like the one you ended up using...
C&C Flange: I've got the power!
Might have issues with the accessory drive. I love that you explain everything!
Argon is lighter that air. That being said, you want to purge the ID from the bottom and push it out the top. 1/4" plastic tubing works better than that black tube for ID purges. If you do it right, you will have no color on your ID and defiantly no sugar inside your welds. The less heat you can use, the better the welds will look. Heat is the enemy. If you can take a few minutes and learn how to lay your cup on the metal, and walk the cup on your welds instead of free handing it, you will never go back. If you want the best weld on SS, walking the cup is essential. This is not criticizing, this is a pro tech tip.
This type of tech info is so much more appropriate for Jerrod than the will it run stuff
Whatever you decide to build is good enough. You always build cool stuff.
Nice fab work, Jarrod. It looks great and no doubt it's going to work just fine!!!
I'm for up, lessen any oil chances reaching the track surface.
I hope to see you re-enforce the front plate to help keep it from bending due to the torque from your awesome engine. May I suggest using rectangular tubing, say. . . . . one inch by two inch by 0.125 wall 6061, six feet for about a hundred bucks. Cheap insurance!!
I'd hate to see you bend that mount!!!
YES! With a spilt turbine housing you need two wastegates.
There's replacement wheels for the air belt sander (well, not yours specifically, but online you find compatible ones) where the front "touching" wheel is shaped like a little rum drum. It profiles the belt, making it excellent for inside diameters.
As to the waste gate exhaust location, I must quote the greatest philosopher from the 1990's.
FIRE! FIRE! Heh Heh Heh!! - Beavis
Awesome! Good afternoon my man.
Love your videos.... can't wait for the next one.
Thank you for educating people on slip fits va stupid bellows that blow out and make a mess.
I can't wait to see this run the quarter!
Always enjoy watching you work while I lay on my couch, talking about welding, it would make a good video, different between tig and mig
I mean, is there even any question as to which way the flames should shoot? Right out the hood! Make it the dragon!
loving the build!
Fire above. But dont do something dull like just a hole with a pipe.
Buick port holes? Have some sort of style exhaust tip that fits the look of the hood! Imagine like intake grills on a rear mid engine car.... but exhaust. Style with style!
I understand how quickly those linear inches of weld add up. I've been building a twin turbo Ford 4.9 inline six and I've calculated that I'm around 100' (give or take) of welds on just the exhaust side.
It doesn't make it any easier that I decided to make all of my bends out of pie cuts.
Forgot to add that this is a pretty clean setup.
Looks just absolutely amazing jared
Fire out of the hood is always the answer haha
I have good luck with my craftsman drills and impacts etc. I bust out the Milwaukee mid torque for the real tight stuff though. Good video man!
I strongly prefer the finished look of not having the exhaust coming up out of the hood
I'm with you on this topic. I can't stand seeing the exhaust come through the hood. Makes me think of a demolition derby car. Or a tractor puller. It's gotta come out the side. The lower the better. And it doesn't need to be 12 inches out past the fender with a 90 degrees upwards turn. Why do that ? It looks ridiculous.
Its just got to go fast, he doesnt need to polish the turd also
If it’s a full time drag car I think it’s fine but if it’s a “street” car I think it’s terrible.
yeah anytime the exhaust goes through the hood or fender, I just see it as lazy.
Yes it's more work to do it correctly.
Stoked to see this car go down the strip
Awesome video man!
I have to give you credit, you are pretty much a one man show doing the build. PFI has a few more people involved in their build! Cannot wait to see the race!
Agreed. Bellows are great, but only past the turbo, or just on NA systems.
Keep it coming looks great
What if the car was the charging bull and you had what looked like a bull head on the hood with the waste gates plumbed to the nostrils? Plus the exhaust can come out the mouth.
You better run the Moontune in or else you lose! Props for doing the build alone!
Keep em coming!!
Light em up Egon! Send those waste gates to the sky!
I think the best hood is probably going to be an imaginary one. Watching the fabrication, however, is immensely satisfying. Jared really knows how to build things that go fast and loud.
Thanks for the sound and light warnings.
love it, if the turbo was a little higher would that solve the heat issue with the intake to said turbo? can't see if it would allow a front cold air feed, just asking a genuine question 🙂👍
I vote to fire the waste gates up, but make the pipe exits subtle. It'll look awesome from the in-car cam when you're racing.
Love the new video!
I'd love to see the waste gates exit from the hood. I think it would send the message quite effectively, that your not here just to play around.
You're here to win.
Thank you for the photosensitivity and audio warnings! On migraine days welding shots on youtube can mess me up bad.
Fire up. For sure 🤘🤘🤘
Looks beautiful 🎉
Hello again Jared
Thank you for another Great Video 👍
Out the top🔥🔥🔥
Up...fire shooting up!
Just came across your channel. Wow, I am doing the EXACT same build. Well, except mine is a 4.8....and not a Lexus, but a 62 Falcon...and not in a shop with a lift, but a 2 car attached garage...and I am MIG welding all my hotside joints, and I am using a VS Racing 7875, and I only have 29 subscribers, BUT other than that exactly the same.
I spent a solid 2 or 3 days with the turbo hanging on the cherry picker around trying to find the right spot to place the turbo. I ended up with a kind of goofy looking deal with the turbo on the passenger side frame rail, but think I have everything in place to get a radiator in there. There is not much space in front of the engine in a Falcon.
Jared if I remember right this SC300 was originally a manual
I hope not, can't really ask for a better platform for a nice turbo car
Oh fire through the hood for sure 🔥
Just put a nice smooth flowing pipe from the dump valve out of the mud guard roll the valves facing up and shortest pipe possible with small flex bracket near the opening or radical you could run all three out low finish the main as a trumpet with the other two blended in just before the outlet. More work but would look and sound good. Just my thought as you please enjoy the channel. About time they all come to your shed for a give away build. Could be Billy carts doesn’t matter , it would be fun.
25:00 Shoot it straight out of the hood 🔥 😅
Fire above, duh! Especially if you're on the track at night, those flames shooting up out of the hood just look too cool. I think exiting the exhaust out the hood on the passenger side right next to the wheel well would be nice too. Extra flame!
Hi Jared nice video 📹 and workmanship
Up my man always up
If you do a hater pipe out the fender, you should run both wastegate pipes out the side next to it.
Great work Jared!
Great Stuff!! You've got some great skills there sir! Not only are you a force to be reckoned with at mechanics but you can weld aluminum and steel! Maybe not the perfect dimes but who cares really?? Not me, we want the VAARRROOOMMM VAARROOM!!
The build's really coming along. Looks like the water pump will be touching the turbo
Awesome episode I don't think that I would have the patience with pipe fitting scheming cutting measuring 😫 oh and if you are going too scrub your pipes use a toilet brush 😂
Legend!
Fire Above respect from the UK
Route the waste gates out the hood at a slight angle each side so when it spits flames it looks like horns 😂
I want to see fire shoot out the top! Who needs mellow??! LOL
So sucking in all that hot air won't be a problem? Seems so close to the exhaust. But I trust you so I'm sure you'll make it work. Love the content! And I think fire out the hood is always the coolest
would love to see you do a drag week /Sic week event in this car with the fella from vice grip garage ,it would be insane and a barell of laughs all rolled into one
Definitely fire out the hood real showmanship
