The show must go on. There is a RUclips Video of BB King replacing a broken string while singing another verse. The mark of a true professional. It was no big deal for BB. It happened before and would happen again!
This is outstanding on so many levels. His tone is superb, the way he uses the dynamics is insane, his swing is perfect and his phrasing is second to none. Ronnie Earl at his very best. If you are a guitar player and this video is not giving you a musical boner, go see a doctor asap!
Ronnie at his most intense. He is the master of tone and in this performance shows that he understands and makes best use of dynamic range. Please post more from this show ... would LOVE to see Same Old Blues, one of my favorite tracks from the recording that was made of this show.
I would say "best public appearances" RECORDED. I remember watching him play at small gigs in New London, CT, back in the late 80s - transcendent as a small club performer back then
Thanks for sharing this masterpiece from Ronnie Earl never saw this before but being blown away by his guitar playing puts him right up there with all the great blues legends.
this is a great performance remember there are a tremendous amount of talented people out there there is no reason to try and make someone better than the other its all good!!
I ask the same question many times at the videos I view. I suppose it was coming here by accident or more like they were looking for some hip hop schitte or maybe c(rap) music. If you can't get into the blues, then you must have a hole in your soul.
I watched Ronnie have words with Sue Foley about her covering his shit. He was sorta nice but very serious. He said, by all means cover it but you play it your way and do not play with my inflections. After that she and he got along very well and all was good. I just thought there was going to be some drama but he was really supportive of her.
Well, in the intro, apart from your usual 10th fret D chord, I hear a G9, a D again, a passing Bb9 (chromatism) and an A9. The rest is easy, a typical I - IV - V blues progression where the I chord is D, the IV chord is G and the V is A. Pretty straightforward.
1:19 bass string breaks, listen for it, and you see him rip it away and carry on, fantastic!

Barking & howlin'....cryin' & moanin'....Stella performance.❤blooz4life.

Great tone, I agree. But for my ranking, SRV has him beat by a slim margin.
Love this track. If that intro, doesn't get you, you're not alive.
@@JPGtampa It’s not a competition. Ronnie loved Stevie and Stevie loved Ronnie. I love them both.
@@matttibbits5654 I love them both as well. But notice I said "my ranking" 👍🏾
falou tudo!!! OMG, isso é muito bom!!!
Nobody is even close.😍😍😍😍👌👌👌👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Love Ronnie and Anson ...see Kid Andersen and play very very similar to Earl ...and other cats 😊
Dave Maxwell on keyboards- he was Freddie King's main man in the early 70's.
Insanely brilliant playing, one of the very best blues guitar players ever. Whoa. Hey Now.
🎸🎸🎼🎼
Best strat tone I have EVER heard......this is insane!!!

Thanks for sharing this masterpiece from Ronnie Earl never saw this before but being blown away by his guitar playing puts him right up there with all the great blues legends.

Hell Yeah ✌🏻😎🎸🎶🎶🎶🎶
That's the way it's done son. Ronnie Earl - bad to the bone. And kudos to Mudcat Ward who broke a g string @ 1:19 and powered through
correction - D string!
Brilliant
2:35 bass player broken string?? a rarity indeed
WOW - Get Up Dance
Yup
Who are the three who gave thumbs down and why!? Ronnie loved Magic Sam
I ask the same question many times at the videos I view. I suppose it was coming here by accident or more like they were looking for some hip hop schitte or maybe c(rap) music.
If you can't get into the blues, then you must have a hole in your soul.
Amen.
♥♥♥
In his prime there was nobody better!
As SRV would say, "The Real Deal"
srv IS REBORN.....!!!!!!
Beast on guitar.

Sue Foley doesn't play anything like Ronnie Earl. And what do you mean 'his shit'? Does he have the copyright on blues?
Besides SRV Ronnie has one of the best flows and tones out there.
Sean Costello makes that my list of 3
Play that strat!!!!
So where can I find tab for this? 😁
did anyone notice that the bass player broke a string at the 2:34 mark
Ronnie Earl starting playing guitar in his early 20s
THIS IS SO DAMNED HOT MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can cry but surely Ronnie Earl was Stevie ray vaughan's teacher
Nah man, they both were taught by the same masters: Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, Magic Sam, Freddie King, BB King.
Anyone know what chords he's playing in the head?
Well, in the intro, apart from your usual 10th fret D chord, I hear a G9, a D again, a passing Bb9 (chromatism) and an A9. The rest is easy, a typical I - IV - V blues progression where the I chord is D, the IV chord is G and the V is A. Pretty straightforward.
Are you sure that's Mudcat Ward on bass? The guy with cowboy hat.
Definitely yes
@ 2:42 I've broke a lot of guitar E strings but you have to be playing pretty had to break a bass guitar string.
The bass player breaks a string somewhere around 2 minutes in
"1"
He is the man.
énOrme
Frank Zappa on bass
SRV was influenced by Ronnie :-)
Am I listening to Stevie ray??? Ronnie is a breast, he can play the blues with authority!!!!
My God.
