    I would be that happiest man in the world if I could even play half as good as Anson!

    Anson is such a great player. Tasteful phrasing, beautiful 'Stratty' clean tone and very unique style. A blues master.

    • @cheesetoast8312
      @cheesetoast8312 5 месяцев назад

      Agreed, I would say he is a fret master because blues is simply a style limiting his knowledge and earlier work. I know the public is urged to categorize styles but Music is Art and Art is never to be compared, it is simply to be apprecieated and enjoyed. To be a master of any style is a challenge no human can posess but our music continues to mezmorize those who think we as the propergators of said style are often magical to those who dont look like us. Fretwork is all pure mathmatical problem solving and Anson is just that. I do agree with your statement but I am basically an ass so forgive my tone as it was really out of respect.

    It's the spacing in Anson's playing - among other things - that make it so soulful and great! He let's the band fill in the spaces instead of taking it all for himself. He's one of the most underrated blues guitar players ever - simply fantastic! Thanks for posting!

    • @johopeweisz
      @johopeweisz 8 лет назад +1

      True. Now, underrated by whom. Not me and a few bluesafficionados I know. I had him sign my strat;)

    • @OldSchoolBluesGuitar
      @OldSchoolBluesGuitar 8 лет назад +5

      Well, for one thing, all you hear about are so-called guitar heroes like Joe Bonamassa and Eric Clapton - I'd take Anson any day over any of those guys. Any, day.

      Absolutely. Beautiful phrasing and great classic 'Strat' tone. Only discovered him a couple of years back. One of my favourite players!

    I don't understand the hate for Otis Grand, they were both fantastic. Otis was a showboat, but seemed like he really was feeling what he was playing.

    Been listening to Otis and Anson for the last 20 years. I never really got Otis' style to begin with and I still don't. He seems to play for himself, and himself only. I come away from his sound feeling like I've just been arguing with a used car salesman. Anson though, he's just got it all. Loved his style from the first time I heard it and I still do.

      Apples and Oranges. Otis can play just as economical and subtle when he wants. Live performance is about contrast. If both these guys were playing the exact same tone, style and phrasing this shit would get old REAL FUCKIN FAST!

    He has learned it from Jimmie Vaughan. Even visited T-Birds record, was it in the early 80´s? But he plays still great guitar with soul. His work with Sam Myers is exellent too. Very tasteful man.

      Sit yo silly ass down with that BULLSHIT! Anson and Jimmie both grew up on the Dallas scene playing the same clubs and were peers. No doubt they both influenced one another.

    Otis is great, no doubt about it, but Anson is something else, he plays from the inner place where real music comes from, he´s cool and gently but hot and fiery at the same time, I dont know how it sounds but have a lot of sense to me.

    I think Otis just got it handed to him on this one ...he is great ..but how different can some blues players be ??....So much of it is seduction ....like the way Anson plays ....nothing to prove ...just trying to get whats in his heart out ...and that my friends is the real blues ...the always fast always loud ...style ...that everyone claims is a SRV influence ....is really overdone ....SRV was so much more than all that ....

    you can tell that that Otis Grand dude has a huge ego. even when Anson is playing he's lurking around in the background looking impatient/playing too loud/cutting back in....ugh...I hate players like that.....

  • @ScreaminJames

    I'm disappointed in Otis. Cheapening himself by being an Albert Collins tribute act. He usually cheapens himself by being a BB King tribute act...
