I’d say there’s a few things. Of course the financial incentive is good. But also there is an appeal to experience something different in life compared to what we’re used to. For me it’s being able to understand a totally different world view or outlook on life - whether culturally or religiously. It’s always nice to experience ‘different’ I think.
