for beginners: instead of practicing (tags, letters, lining) with your expensive, good supplies, use basic cheap markers and save your good stuff to do full pieces. you can also find decent supplies at a dollar store or some place cheaper than buying from places with a little higher price
Very true
Am I being paranoid for worrying about what store I buy from? I feel like IF I was caught, they would identify me by essentially the cans
if theres a bando/ chill spot in your area, search for caps, thats where i find most of mine. if theyre clogged throw them in a jar of paint thinner for a day or two
Absolutely, that's a great idea for sure. A couple times I came across a bunch of brand new caps that I think someone must have spilt. That can be great as well haha
rack caps off cans.. hairspray arm n hammer has a female fat theres the elmers glue cap ny thin, rusto fat, etc
@Skvllv1ll3 I just told you. Steal caps off of cans in the store. Find arm n hammer hair spray it has a female fat cap for Rusto. Find the elmers glue cap, it works really well on the cheap Quick Color or Touch N Tone cans, you can find Rusto Fats and NY Thins and stuff on a lot of domestic products. Picking up caps off the ground is a last resort lol and then you would need to clean them with a solvent too.
Can’t the cops chill in the parking lot
Wow good thinkin I always just throw my caps away after a use
good wideo! i can add here:
- use pens and acetone to extract your own ink.
- if your acrylic/water based marker is low on paint you can add a few drop of water to make it work again
-try to make your own mops. its worth it.
- collect old paint leftovers you can find on popular spots and collect paint to the botlles. its a great mop/marker paint!
Absolutely! I feel like I should have added that making your own mops is a good thing to do but I didn't even think of it when I was recording lol. I'm glad you said it
Yeah I started to use shoe polish bottles. Built in flow control valve and usually they have large tip for big fat tags.
Also a lot of stationary shops have bingo blotters and you can buy multi packs for a fairly low price. Which is basically what a mop is.
@@robertdale2964 ive never heard about such a thing as bingo blotters. theyre deffinitly not avilable for sale where im live.
steal!
diy mops are hela fun to make and you get like a sense of gratification idk if thats wierd
RACK!
The biggest money saving tip for me is homemade ink and paint, i have alot to talk about this subject, but for many of you new graffiti writers would be boring...
So here's what i do: 1. free the preasure out of a can 2. Take something to open the can, (u will do that on the bottom of the can) 3. Poor the paint and the ball inside a bottle of your choice.
This method works especially for mops and if you want to make it better, poor some leftover ink or paint in it, if its too thick, diluate it!
yea im doing the same for the long time. i specially like to do it with chrome cuz its in my opinion the most drippy of all spray colours!
Absolutely! For me, the DIY is half the fun of graff
@@ScizGraffiti real talk. Mvfs spending thousands to learn to sneeze on paper and call it abstract. Try that here ffs. Your gonna know to fix up. I use chrome and blacks home brew mixed with my own ink. Dot 3 is your friend not so much for your mops if you planning for longevity tho.
@RUclips Algorithm turn it upside down and spray
i wanted to know if i can use printer paper ink in markers, knowing that garvey was first used for labels
If you can't buy a new mop nib you can replace the fabric part of the nib with something like a bit of an old sock or shirt.
oh true. I've never actually done that. Thanks for that man
actually here in my city almost all writers use local cans, diy markers and cheap marker we don't buy expensive stuff
I think that's the way to go if you have lots of local stuff you can buy. There's nothing local around my area unfortunately haha
graffiti is not usual here sciz maybe that's the reason we have no supplies available
True. Same in my area
Refilling solid markers with a mixture of candle wax and oil based crayons.
Never heard this one... care to explain a little more? Like ratios etc.
If you made an ink that is NOT opaqe at all, you can make a mixture of 70% brand paint and 30% your homemade ink. It works. I did it and the paint is as opaqe as always.😊
Home made mops are so unique and writes in all different ways, surfaces, and have this kind of a good taste because youve done own hands... nice video!!!
Yup. Working with a DIY mop is the best feeling :)
Yes! Been looking for something like this!
Glad I could help!
Hey man I'm surprised with how much I've been using your channel. Even the older content.
Thanks for making things happen. Thanks for letting us see how things actively write and talking about cost. I'm not someone that lifts things (just not me) and my nephew (my cohort) doesn't have the money. I'm funding everything so I love knowing where to go and for what.
I got a moltow dripstick for under $4. It was under the register, and I'm pretty sure it hadn't been asked about for years (judging by the dust) at a major art supply chain. I just asked if they had any mops because I didn't see anything and that's what they found.
I'm going to go buy them out now that I know I like the mop. I spent $12 on some liquid gold (too much!) And absolutely loved it with the moltow.
One Krink squeezer mop was like $17 with just white ink at the same store.
I'm going to split some Sakura streakers, but I'm going to build something to feed the paint sticks through with a blade down the center so it's a super professional cut and make my own multi colored paint sticks.
Really glad you're finding the videos useful! And that's a great score on that molotow! That would have been a good deal for one of those even 10 years ago probably! Big ups man! 👊
Bro I love how informative your vids are. Watch n rewatch😎🤙
Thank you man! Cheers!
Hell yeah I was just about to comment on your newest video "hey sciz can you do a video on mop/marker care? I wanna get the most out of my supplies." Then thought, "honestly he probably already has" and here I am haha thanks for the tips I was gonna use straight up paint thinner lollllll
😂😂 glad that worked out! Hope it was helpful
thanks so much for this this is very very helpfull for me keep it up sciz
Thanks! Glad it helped
Thx for Uploading good Videos👍
Thanks for the great info. You are much appreciated! 😎
glad to help. cheers!
i've got my own personal tip if ur tryna get up with stickers as well as markers and cans, it's go to office supply shops and buy blank labels which generally are quite cheap for like 1,000 for about 10 quid instead of maybe 50 for 10 quid, it's what i see people in my area do and it works quite well
you could buy a bucket load of 228 labels for free if ur in the us
@@hunck3r376 provided you live in the U.S.
Great video, thanks for showing especially for me how to take care of my mops, because like a week ago i spilled 3/4 ink due to my nib coming off with the cap
that is the worst when that happens -_-
Absolutely about isolating the acetone vapors. Art work need not be poisonous. Art is everywhere.
Just discovered this channel subbed too and pls could you do a review on the Montana pocket sketchbook i would appreciated! Great video btw
Did a tag for each time you said nib. Nice vid bro
haha nice
i always soak my caps in acetone and reuse them. sure they're pretty cheap, but waiting for a pack of caps in the mail to go piecing is tedious. take all your used caps, put them in a jar, pour acetone until it's just barely covering the top of the caps. let them soak for about a day and rinse in warm water for about 5 minutes. let them dry before using them, and you have brand new caps again.
edit: also kick your cans. when your can is just about empty but you need to get another couple lines out of it, take the cap off, set the can on the ground, and stomp on the top of the can. it'll crush the top just enough to push the straw inside down a little bit further to get the rest of the paint out.
you deserve more views
I appreciate it man!
Yo thank you man i have mtn street mop i will clean the nib and for pump marker too ty man again!
No problem bro! Glad I could help
@@ScizGraffiti i wanted to throw both of nibs but i will try this out
Definitely worth it given the price of nibs
are you an Ontario/Toronto writer perhaps? Cool to see that Dollarama sticker on that bottle of nail polish remover :D
Ontario yes, Toronto no :)
you can also make some homemade ink by mixing acetone with pen ink and it can clean stains easily
a good idea for sure :)
Pro tip: Bucket paint fills. Especially on hoppers if you paint trains. Even if youre racking all your paint this will get you the most bang for your buck.
Sketch out your piece with dollar cans. I always have a couple in my bag specifically for that purpose. Again even if your paint is free theres no sense just blowing through it as fast as possible haha. Racking is 100x more stressful than painting ever will be
for sure. A lot of people don't know this, but you can go into any paint store and see if they have any mistints. They will sell them for like 5 or 10 bucks to you since they have no use for them
Always re use underarm deodorant stick and chapstick can be used as mop or streaker
to the 2nd tip , can i do it also with a squeezer nib?
I bought two cans of spray paint at walmart so I could decant them for the paint
If your into doing canvases you can stab your empty spray cans close to the bottom for different coloured dots on a spray paint canvass back drops.
Leather gloves, safety glasses, and shoes are recommended and remember only stab cans that the aerosol is 99% used, not cans that clogged or malfunctioned or else you will get an explosion of paint to your face.
this is somewhat dangerous, so I wouldn’t recommend it to the really fresh beginner.
Very true. Can definitely throw the cans in the fridge to lower the pressure a bit for some extra insurance when bursting them
For me making my own ink, man its a delicious red that ive seen get 10 coats and still bleeds through. They had to replace the fucking entire door cause of me. Legit felt bad lol, it took a week to get that stain off my skin. Best part seeing the shock in a cashiers eye as i purchased a full grocery cart of just pens. : p
how do you make your ink
What do you add to your pen ink to make it so bleed-through and stainy?
@@brunobrauns9889 fish oil gel caps and brake fluid, the bleed through and stain is unreal.
@@Lil-Britches how much of each do you add?
@@greg_mpats6014 fish oil gel caps, brake fluid, rubbing alcohol and idk..... like 120ish red bic pens cut in half. Stuff it in a gateraid bottle with iso alcohol shake every hour for like 4days. It will RUIN ANYTHING IS COMES INTO CONTACT WITH! Do this OUTSIDE! The brake fluid with make the cover buff peel away at the paint.
For nibs I use dollar store bingo marker nibs
Subbed just bc you said “hate to mention them.. but, krink” 😂
😂🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Nice video man. I was wondering can i use ethanol instead of acethone
ooo That's a good question. I actually don't know to be honest since I have always used acetone, but I was able to find some threads online about professional painters using it to remove paint, so probably?
I would imagine anything that can breakdown paint should work. White spirits, acetone etc.
You can but aceatone is way cheaper.
Can i also use isopropyl alcohol to do a nib reset
true dat!
1tip for beginners always store and carry your mops upright and the nib will never come off with the cap
I haven't found that so much. I keep all my mops stored upright and it definitely makes sure it doesn't leak and stick like you're saying. But for me I've just found that some mops and caps are just plain worse for that. Like the grog ones, idk if it's cause their paint is so sticky too, but I find the grog caps stick no matter how careful I am and how clean I keep the sides of the nib. And then some others I've absolutely never had a problem with. haha. Definitely a good idea keeping them upright though
#1 - Rack
#2 - That's it
How much would u value your askew can and the orange can?
I'm actually not sure. The orange one is Berst. I've had them both for at least 7 years, probably longer. So I'm not sure how much they'd be worth nowadays
definitely make your own paint there are enough recipes for hundreds of paints / inks or come up with your own recipes
Absolutely! That's way more satisfying once you find a good formula you like too
@@ScizGraffiti yes and its waay cheaper
any1 know how to take out the ink on something with a mixing ball, like a posca?
for the poscas you can unscrew them but they unscrew the opposite way of normal markers. (left to unscrew for the pascas)
@@ScizGraffiti ok thanks :)
Hey and can you hit up "Tron" in any review
For sure! I'll get you up in a future one
With mops i use bingo daubers and home made ink and some times i make my own mops its pretty fkn awesome (also some crews in the city think ima cop, how do i prove im not a cop?)
lol who cares what they think. You don't have to prove anything to stupid people haha
Yo sciz whats up whare in ontario do you live ???
👇canadain gang
Were did u get the mop from
check the description man :)
This should just be called graffiti marker maintance.. >_>)
Alternate title idea :) Nice
bro i fit into the demographic lol
five fingers to save money😂😂😂
*buy acetone*
Exaaaactly
my auto correct is making me say robbers instead of dobbers
How to save money 101: hit racks.
just rack
Just rack it lol
Just steal it
step 1
rack
step 2
ask others for there old markers and refill
step 3
Dont get caught racking
idk if many would want to donate old markers to ya but if people are dumb enough to give them up then sure haha
How to save money on graff supplies number 1. Just steal
krink makes like,, semi decent steel tips but jesus FUCKING christ i am not paying 15 dollars for 40ml of paint and a valve made from scrap metal ever again
1. Rak supplies.
2. Scavenge/save used cans and transfer to single can.
3. Stick up the kids painting at your spot for their supplies.
4. Get free bucket paint, from Craigslist, dumpsters ect.
5. Keep a jar of acatone for cleaning caps.
6. Get up and hold down your spot!
Stay up yo!
how to save money: steal!
3 dislikes already? to all the dislikers of sciz stick to tagging ur room with ur krink mop that ur mom payed for ●_•
😂
Step 1: Steal.
Wow. You're revolutionary
