All those pcm sheets are amazing specially for laptop that reach easily 100°c, because they don't pump out like most thermal pastes. The only thing you have to be careful with is that when you take them out (it should last years according to manufacturer) because when they're cold they get really dry and hard (like really old thermal paste, even worse), so warm up the gpu before doing that.

I was surprised at how good this stuff worked out. I will keep using it.

@@TechnologyHive You can also try some thermal putty for the vrm and vrams (Not the blue one lol) cx h1300 (cheap and seller says it last 3 years) or upsiren utp8, both good.

actually, it getting hard like dried thermal paste when cold is a plus. It makes it extremely easy to clean off CPUs and coolers because it just flakes off. When I switched CPU coolers the cleanup only took about 30 seconds and 99% of the ptm7950 just scrapped off really easily using a plastic spudger.

You are supposed to "melt in" the phase change sheets (Heilos) so that it phase changes in order to spread and thin out. This increases the the performance of the phase change sheet as it will thin out even more during the first or first few phase changes while also curing. so after this initial test for the melt-in the phase sheet performance should get even better. Initial melt-in / curing could take a while and a few heat cycles to really set up, but performance should increase to maximum capability afterward.

just bought two 40 x 40 pads of this. I think I bought some fake ptm7950 off Amazon so I'm going to try this. I figure since they are a reputable company then I can trust they aren't going to give me fake ptm7950. The instructions recommend applying it to the cooler then waiting 3 mins and peeling off the plastic backing, I'm not going to do that. I'm going to apply it the same way you do any other ptm7950 by putting it in the fridge for about a half hour, peeling the backing and applying to the cpu, then peeling the other piece of plastic right away.

    Hi,
Just FYI this test wasn't done properly, dont want to be "that guy"
The phase change crap needs a burn-in period, in many cases it performs worse when fresh.
You need to either use the PC for at least a week
or run a bench that hits the GPU, not the VRAM, for 4-8 hours to speed it up.
Normal paste, also loves burn-in BTW, not as much as Phase Change but it loves it too
For Phase Change its not optional, Burn-In period its just how it works
P.S. I used MX-6 on 4090 under custom loop, it was fine, GPU die temps were always low

No worries, I appreciate all the feedback. No one is perfect. I am still using that stuff and I have not noticed any change from day 1. Same performance. And I use it on my daily system. But thanks for your two cents, no pun intended :)

I had to remove the video because I did not like how it came out. I didn't record the reball process nor the problems I was experiencing with the card. It was too vague, IMO.

I got very different result, I put Heilos on my cpu & gpu laptop, the result I got thermal throttle on Intel XTU stress test. I checked online people got a good result, maybe in case there is not enough contact pressure between the cooling block and the cpu/gpu.

It needs some time to settle in, if the temps remain bad then you most likely have sturdy thermal pads making it unable to compress the PTM efficiently. I use different kinds of putty up to 1.5mm and Laird T-Flex HD90000 pads for bigger gaps.
