One of my late Grandads, and Dad's favourite comedians. Have several stories about Mike but this would end up longer than my Uni dissertation. One of Britain's most underrated comedians and all-round entertainers. And having met him, a proper lovely guy.
Mike is the best ever! As a Yorkshireman married to a Lancashire lass I can appreciate the humour, went to see him in Bradford years ago, best four hours of my life!
saw him in a pub in the 70's in high Bentham the brown cow pub he lived in the village spent the night with him and a few more brilliant bloke had us in hysterics all night he lived in the village

Been following him for years I first saw him on TV next day went out and brought everything I could find even now age 59 still walk around with earphones in listening to him I get some strange looks because I can't stop laughing heard the jokes so many times but never get old

My childhood is Mike Harding this never gets old just gets funnier as you get older this budgie story was also on a vinyl record my Dad had he had many of his vinyl's saw Mike live twice in local town of Workington and Carlisle in the 90's🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I remember him coming to York, back in the late '70s "Captain Paralytic And The Brown Ale Cowboys at York Theatre Royal" - As he might have said himself, What a Bloody Performance! Well, it was!! I especially remember Mike's "little poyim" entitled "Ackroyd's Funeral" - A rather poignant poem, because I had a granddad called Akeroyd. The poem was a barrel of laughs until granddad died in 1981. As funny as it is, I find it hard to listen to the poem, even to this day. Favourite performance of Mike's, in my eyes? "The Old Green Iron Lamp" - brings tears to the eyes every time.
I had a friend who knows him and sees him regularly and he is as funny off stage according to her. I have all his albums. Mrs 'Ardin's kid being the funniest.
He was a good mate of one of our art teachers and came to our school in Stevenage, '76 or '77 I think, to play 3 gigs in one day: one for 1st/2nd/3rd years, one for 4th/5th years, then another for the 6th form and staff; the material for each gig was tailored to the specific audience. Brilliant. And I'm not sure he even charged for it - if he did, it was a peppercorn. A couple of years later a bunch of us filled the school minibus to go and watch him play at the Cambridge Corn Exchange and had then beers backstage with him afterwards. Great guy.
Watched him at the Manchester Apollo about 1978ish I was thirteen...I laughed so hard it hurt....the only gags i remember were collecting his mate after his holiday and his teacher Miss Worswick....
Clearly know nothing about proper comedy. Mike is a storytelling comedian. Could you not hear the laughs? One liners in a story. Go back to watching Michael McIntyre. The worst comedian to have lived.

Monty Python dick emery morecambe and wise there is lots more but iin my opinion he was not funny but thats my opnion only...

Hi Mark, yes I remember the Brown Dirt Cowboy album which was bought for me by my Mum & Dad one christmas. A brilliant time for Comedy.

I saw Mike in Preston. Lancashire years ago and I still have a tape about when the marsh ion landed in Huddersfield fiel great

He became up market when he started presenting country music shows. I remember the good old days of the Rochdale cowboy.
