Three Irish fans perform beautiful 'Fields of Athenry' in French train station

Irish supporters have been in fine voice during Euro 2016 as Paris, Bordeaux, Lille and various other cities have played host to the legions of fans that have traveled to support the boys in green.
We've no doubt our French hosts have joined in with countless versions of 'COYBIG', 'Shane Long's On Fire' and 'Olé, Olé, Olé' but there's one song that's quintessentially Irish.
You may have heard a few different versions of 'The Fields Of Athenry', but this stripped-back version featuring three Irish fans in a quiet French train station is just something completely different to what we're used to. It was filmed by Barry Conlan at Valenciennes Station just a few hours before Ireland's memorable win over the Italians.
Even with such small numbers, it's just as powerful and as poignant as the the crowd-roaring renditions in stadiums.
The three fans are Drogheda men - Brian Connolly on piano, his brother Des Connolly on lead vocals and Sean Maguire supporting him. The piano is a frequent fixture in the station for whoever wants to play it, but we doubt anyone will perform a better tune.

I was in Bordeaux not long ago meeting a lot of different people and when I mentioned that I was Irish, everyone said how great the Irish fans were last year. Winning hearts sometimes is greater than winning a cup.

I was commenting on the beauty of the guys playing .I'm a Celtic fan we sing it week in week out at Paradise our countries are intertwined by Glasgow Celtic FC. As a proud scot at any international game we cannot sing this song because its an Irish folk song we will leave that to our Irish brothers and sisters we are both celts 💚

Irish fans are just awesome! I don't really like professional football because of its bad mentality (simulations, corruption and others. Rugby is better from my point of view) but I must admit that you guys enhance the football's reputation. You're combined (not sure if it's the good adjective corresponding to the french meaning lol), respectful and joyful. I'm almost sad that we have to play against you during euro.

As an Englishman who loves an Irish accent whenever he hears one, I hope there is a chance of Irish and English/British friendship in future. Of course this requires historical facts about British crimes in Ireland be known.
English born people still make up the largest percentage of immigrants and tourists here. English people are welcome in Ireland. We do have some issues with your Government and military (who doesn't) but most of us also have friends, family living in Britain too.. it would be nice to get the rest of our country back but that's not really down to London anymore, well within reason..
