got an edition 40 just before xmas. Amazing car for a daily driver, all the right bits, Dsg, pano roof, buckets, DCC, Upgrade infotainment, Dynaudio, folding mirrors, rear view camera. Actually had one instance of somebody taking photos of it!
Hi Emalewis, thanks for posting. If I saw an Edition 40 I'd take a photo of it as I can count the number I've seen on the road on one hand! Great car, enjoy it :)
Hi Blitz, that's a great question. I think the Mk7.5 R is a lot more appealing than Mk7 with standard nav, heated seats, more aggressive front styling and nicer standard interior. CS doesn't have heated seats as standard but it does have nav and the special seats and body styling are at least match for R if not better with nice aero bits inc spoiler. Power to weight ratio will be similar so it's really a question of whether you want AWD. I'd personally prefer the VAQ diff of the CS and buy some winter tyres just in case as then it will be better in snow than an R on its normal tyres. The other thing is exclusivity, I haven't seen many Mk7.5 R around as yet but Mk7s are common as muck, I can count the number of CS I've ever seen on one hand - I've seen the same number of 7R just today! The CS bucket seats are so nice and not available even as option on an R so this would be icing on cake. Either way I'd want DSG on a daily and DCC. I'd be happy with the stock 18s on CS, I'd only want Pretoria 19s on R as dislike all the others (but that's subjective of course). CS should be better on fuel due to less weight and transmission drag. The Mk 7.5 has more modern infotainment but the standard nav on CS is perfectly fine unless you really have a thing about big screens. But both are great cars!
volkswizard Thanks for the detailed reply mate appreciate that and you’re right with every point you made I must say for the interior of the 7.5 R is a lot better except for the seats of course but there is something getting me I just seem to want a CS especially after watching your great vids on them I’m gonna have a long hard think about which one to purchase can I just ask have you drove a standard GTI 7.5 yet and if so are they any good as I might grab one of them?
I believe they do. The Clubsport S is 310 PS, Edition 40 is 290 PS on overboost so they need to have the full fat version of the EA888 engine (unlike the GTI/GTI Performance)

Also very good. Be nice if funds stretched to a Clubsport S or even an Edn 40 but will stick with looking for Mk7 Gti for now.
Still a great car especially as they are now well below £20k but I'd stretch for a PP model
Yes definitely looking at Performance pack, just hard to wangle a deal with VW dealers even with MK6 GTi as part ex.
You obviously have never had or drove a edition 35!! It's a hell of a car!!
Great video! gti clubsport its a great car!! Please share the intro music, is fantastic!!
Hey Fran, glad you enjoyed the video including the music (link below!)

Hi Andrew what would you prefer as a daily driver a golf R mk7.5 or a Clubsport 40?

Not driven a 7.5 GTI but a PP version does look attractive, quite rare in comparison to base model though which is a shame
do these come fitted with the bigger turbo of the golf R?
