Great install video. I'm considering this for my 2018. Do you know if it's possible to download an app on it, buy an OBD scanner and be able to monitor the trucks gauges? Like coolant, transmission temp etc
Absolutely. You can either insert a sim card and allow the unit to have it's own data connection or connect via hotspot and download apps or stream movies
@@DIESELLBZ zero. It's worked perfect every single time. Didn't have any issues with the vivid 11 unit I had in a previous vehicle either and that truck had the radio installed for about 8 months
You can’t I tried looking. The mic that comes with the head unit is a lot better than the OEM. several ways to feng shui that wire to completely hide it
Very nice tutorial. I am planning on getting a head unit like this from Santa for my 2019 Tundra 1794. I've noticed a lot of people don't run the mic and also hid the GPS antenna. Did you have any reason you ran the mic? I've just heard negative comments about its performance? Also, do we have to do anything for the JBL factory amp?
I've always run the mics but they are always terrible. This one is no different. The GPS antenna doesn't bother me on the dash I've always put it out in the open. As far as the factory JBL system there is nothing extra to do. Plug and play my friend😊
It has its own navigation installed as well as carplay navigation. Carplay will be better than anything since you can use Google maps, apple maps or Waze.
I have a 2020 tundra limited with a jbl system will thus head unit help the factory subwoofer? Are there any connections if a different subwoofer can be installed??
The head unit has a mic built in, small hole near the buttons. The wired mic isn’t mandatory but if you plan on making phone calls and talking to people, using Siri, sending txt while driving without having to put ur phone on speaker or using AirPods or other earphones , setting up that wired mic is something you should definitely do.
What Rockville set up do you have in the truck? I noticed a nozzle their on the kick panel.
Can it accept addresses or place names through microphone to navigate while moving?

Awesome, and thank you for the quick reply! Have you experienced any glitches in the couple weeks it been installed?

Sub'd, thanks brother
@@DIESELLBZ 🤘🏼😎 appreciate that homie
Couldn’t the factory built in mic be used?
I don't believe that is connected in this system but I could be wrong. I just put the one that was provided in because it was in the box

How ya liking it?
Absolutely love it. Just as good as the first one was with a few new cool tricks😊

So is the wireless calling just limited with the new mic or does the factory one work?
@ factory mic isnt reused. They have a mic built into the headunit itself or the provided external mic.
Can you still use factory navigation?

I would like to know this as well.
Does the mic have to be installed? Is that for Siri or something?
