When I've build a Portal map, I detected the bow in the offhand and changed the model, so that it just looked like the portal gun was held a little bit differently to pick up cubes. Also the player could drop the portalgun he was holding, then I deleted the item entity and the player got the other Portalgun. I think that adds a nice feeling to it, because you can control with your keyboard and don't have to scroll. The map is looking pretty nice, I really like it! Keep up the good work!

The menu gui is a armor stand that is switching model. I also used the rx, rxm, ry, and rym tags to have the player highlight the text. I then execute the command by having the player punch an entity and use a scoreboard value to detect the damage given to the entity. It's complicated to explain but it does require a lot of models and fine tuning.
This is way amazing! And it gives the same feeling from way back when we'd play the Atari 2600 version of an arcade game :) Seriously awesome work. I'm impressed!

DUDE WHAT THE HELL!!! THAT IS AMAZING!!! HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE IN MINECRAFT?!?!?!?!?! Tho... you should use chulkers or whatever they are called since they are entities and you can stand on them! That way you can make a realisti elevator! Hope that helps.
It's already 100% functional with sounds and a moving elevator vehicle you can stand in too. The elevator vehicle does have a custom hitbox I created using shulkers.
No, the disabled devices are deadly lasers, and the enabled devices are not deadly lasers, they are high energy pellets. Every time you push the button to turn on the laser, the laser beam will not fire, and only sparks will turn on when you step on the button, then the sparks turn off when you step off it. Glados will say: "Hmm... that laser is not working, I'll try and fix it."
A few suggestions: Remove the hearts, and gui in general. (As much as possible) Give arrows the NoGravity tag so they fly in a straight line Use worldborder for the red vision tinging

Nice going on the map! I honestly can't wait for it to be done, even though that might take a few more months or years. (That said if you don't give up on it, which would be a shame.)

+Babbtox I plan to recreate it as accurate as possible. My goal is to fully recreate chapter 1 which is quite a bit of work for just for one scene where GLaDOS wakes up. Once chapter 1 is released, you could play it like you normally do with any map, but once chapter 2 is released you will have to download that world and override the previous one. Except you could still go back and play chapter 1 since I will build everything on the same map.
Is this still being worked on? Because if not, I think you should release the unfinished map save. (And if it is, make another update. We are all secretly craving one.)
Yes it is, I have something big coming soon that many would be GLaD to see done. This is more of a hobby than something I want to rush. Another problem for me is that I have no dedicated team which causes things to take a bit longer. Also we all have lives outside of Minecraft and sometimes things get in the way.
Hey, not sure if you'll see this, but you can replace the invisible charged creepers with another thing. String. Just replace the string models with some sort of barrier and then animate it. You could use colored glass for the transparency issue.

Linkin The version this video is made in is 15w47c but the map is currently running the latest 1.11 snapshot. The map is not yet finished since I'm the only one working on this when I have time. I do plan to upload another video relatively soon since it will show many of the changes to the map, like more models, new loading screens, better GUI, better portal textures, and working elevators.
Maybe you could make any level addable via a one-click install into the existing world. I've seen a MC-Edit filter which can transform a region of a world into a single command (or more if the region is bigger)

I have been able to speed up the portals. In 1.8, the portals took around 1.5 seconds to spawn where as now in 1.9 they spawn in under 0.2 seconds. There was a bug in this video causing the tickrate to be less than 20 which caused some delays. For the fast paced parts of the game I will experiment with what I have currently but, if the delay between firing the portal gun and spawning the portal is too long, I will replace the arrow with fireballs since I can have them travel almost instantly.

I just applied the images to a bunch of models and played them in order by using a few timers and a lot of /replaceitem commands.

The map is actually updated to the latest snapshot version and will continually be updated as the versions come out. I have not got around to modeling the cores since Iv'e been reworking many core mechanics that just never felt done to me. The elevator picture I linked you to took me around 3 months to create all those models. Don'r expect the map anytime soon though. This is more of a project I work on when I have time. If you are already using a custom resource pack, why not change the texture of the arrows that are fired?
He also is using an arrow for the portal gun so he can’t use the same texture for an orange portal pellet, a blue portal pellet, and a bullet.

The armor stands are one block in front of the door. I just change the head pose to make them rotate.

This was uploaded over a year ago, I spent a good portion of this year modelling the elevators, so that's why they aren't in this video.
