Marner definitely needs a change of scenery, I think he goes to Nashville

For sure, I think he would thrive anywhere. Nashville is interesting also!

Marner's a bum. Since he signed his contract, he was only 3rd overall, at the start of the season, in 5-on-5 points in the league behind McKinnon and McDavid. A little injury problems and he dropped all the way to 5th overall, getting passed by Matthews and Kucherov. Top-5 productive scorer in the league isn't good enough. They should deal him despite him having a full no-trade clause. Knowing he probably won't accept a trade to a team with no chance of winning, he'll go to a team that's up against the Salary Cap. To make it happen, the Leafs can retain the maximum 50%. Of course knowing there's no competition for this deal, you'd only offer the Leafs back just enough table scraps to make your team cap compliant.

Ok it's a bit ridiculous to ask if they're making the playoffs...
Who's going to be better than the Leafs (in regular season performance) for next season? Florida? Yes for sure! Boston & Tampa? Maaaaaybe but both have endured significant losses to their teams... Detroit, Ottawa, Montreal, Buffalo? C'mon, get real. Toronto once again finishes 3rd in the division, squares off against the 2nd place team in our division first round in the and surprise surprise we lose badly because our top 4 forwards who earn more than 50% of the team's salary cap (Marner, Matthews, Tavares & Nylander) don't know how to play in the playoffs....they've NEVER been able to perform in tight-checking games.

It's not necessarily the players fault. The money means very little. The coaching was the biggest issue. Now that 3 of them are in their prime, better defense, better goalies and a new coach, I think they may surprise everybody. They won't win the cup, as no Canadian team will under Bettman

@@jeffreycairns767I'm trusting you're either too old, or too young to know anything that happened more than 2yrs ago, but the Leafs 'core' have been coached by not one...not two...but THREE nhl coaches with the EXACT same results each time. Coaching isn't the issue.

@mattrix4200 Actually, they've had 2, this will be their 3rd. Also, only 1 was in their prime. The other 3 are just getting into their primes now. I'm not sure what people don't get about it being a TEAM sport and the last I checked, teams have more then 4 players. Unfortunately, when you have high end talent, you have to pay them more to play for a Canadian team. I do believe they made a mistake signing Nylander to his newest contract and Signing Tavares to his last one. Tavares is good and yes SJ offered him more but they still overpaid him. As for Nylander, he's decent with with the puck but besides having 1 good year (ofcourse it's his contract year), he's never come close to 100 pts., He rarely back checks, he doesn't play defense of anykind, and often leaves the ice or casually skates back towards his end. Marner comes in 2nd for pts every year (except last year with Nylander's contract pending) and leads the team in goals and points in the playoffs since 2017. The number of fake fans claiming "he's useless in the playoffs" are clearly not paying attention. Matthews is a scoring machine and alot of that is because of Marner. Tell me what I'm missing, oh great one
