Ashley is definitely 'hands-on' working on her car. It has to be empowering to be so involved. The attention to detail both Ashley and Doug have is unlimited and admirable. Belle and Maverick certainly have awesome parents/ role-models.
I would never have had an opportunity to see the inside of an engine; and have someone take the time to explain things to me. Thank you!!! I'm enjoying learning something that I didn't know!!!
I LOVE that you are so detailed on a car that some would see as not worth the effort. It’s great to see that not everyone is part of the “throwaway” culture. It reminds me of my grandparents who I look up to greatly!
I have a '92 S10 4×4. It's been my main vehicle for 22 years, I think because I was able to replace anything that went out on it, cheaper than any new vehicle. But really the distributor, a couple of barons and the fuel pump are the only things that have went out on it in 22 years. It's been a huge blessing because I have burn wood for heat, hauled more furniture than a body should and all the remodel supplies for hubby and my new-to-us home. We're, husband and I are getting ready to put all new wiring harness on it. Was raised to throw NOTHING usable away and it has paid off!
A little heads up at this stage. Check both the front and rear main seals! If they even remotely look like they are leaking, change them now. A heck of a lot easier to do that now than after you install the engine and see they are leaking and need changed. Also, totally clean the engine so you can also see if any other leaks are visible. Always easier to do such things with the engine out and sitting there... Thumbs Up!
I wish you had your daughter out there learning this. My dad was handicapped and he depended on me to follow his directions using my hands to learn all kinds of basic skills.
Great job Ashley! You go girl! Doug, I hope the cut on your hand heals quickly. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us. Big hugs to your family and a big pat on the back for Ashley.
Ashley is becoming a mechanic! That is great. You learn as you go, you will never forget. Like watching you both work because you do explain why for the decisions you make. Your both so neat in your work and looks so nice in the end. Enjoy your videos very much.
I love you guys. It's okay Ashley, everyone is nervous when we're unsure how to do something and you're so brave for doing it on camera. Bless you guys!
Good job kids! Glad the horn (beep) works! I recommend using a lamp light or flashlight to see how your shift lever markings look, Ash! Doug I’m with you about painting the engine well! You guys are a pleasure to watch!
Back in the 80's and way before Photoshop, we used these letters on printed photos and then photographed the whole thing to create layouts for medical journals. I loved using them and it took a lot of practice. You did a great job your first time. Way to go Ashley!
Ashley is amazing. Your children are a testament to her (and Doug's) good parenting. She was also so good with your collection of animals in Michigan. Not only is she a cute little thing, she's such a hard worker on the house, even going under the house and up on the roof. And no task seems to intimidate her. This is a whole new skill set. Look at those greasy hands. I am totally in awe of her. You go, girl!
Thank you Ashley, you in power us women 😁 Doug is a wonderful person 👍 you too make it worth my time to watch everything you do thank you 😊 from Green Bay Wisconsin 🤗
Its funny, normally you couldnt pay me to watch a car restoration but you guys make it interesting. So proud of you Ashley for getting in there and working on the engine!
I love all of your projects but this is probably my favorite. Way to go Ashley! So many folks have no idea that you do as much as Doug because you just work and aren't as interested as being so extroverted. But those of us who have been here since the beginning know you are just as capable as he is and that he knows that about you too! You are BOTH great helpmates to EACH OTHER. Keep up the good TEAMwork :)
Oh wow guys this project car is looking so good, I love the job you did Ashley on the shift gauge, that goldy color in the background is really cool looking, I am really loving how things are looking, that water pump looks so great. Thanks for another great video and I always look forward to seeing how this car is coming along. I hope that you have a safe and fun week ahead, sending love and hugs, bye!! 😂🤗💜💚🐢🦎🐝🐞
Always good to replace parts while the engine is out. Glad to see Ashley doing some jobs to prove that she can do it. going well Thanks for the video from UK.😃
The little car is coming together nicely. I'm with you Doug I would have had to paint the inside of the engine bay also. Just to dress it up a little. I really like how you'll take the time to repair all the little items as you go it's going to be a neat little car when it's done.
Doug we are considering buying a home with one bad beam like you had under your home, and a very slow leak in the cast iron plumbing, because I watched you, I know it can be fixed! Otherwise the house is perfect for us! I feel like since I know what it takes to fix I won't be taken by the repair man, others were afraid of the repair because the company said that they Had to level the entire house to fix one beam ! They need big jobs to pay their crew. The house has been inspection and no other repairs needed so thanks to you we found our dream home ! ❤️ I have enjoyed watching the children grow and your many houses but made beautiful with your and Ashley's touch thanks!
Great job, Ashley! 😊So happy to see another woman not afraid to get her hands greasy. I spent 30 years getting mine greasy on a a Log Truck helping my husband.. your car is going to look amazing…❤
Ashley, I am proud of you. Doug, I am proud of you as well. Doug, for letting Ashley be hands on and you there to support her any way you can. Rare find. Keep up the great work.
Great job! Time consuming a lil but a good distraction away from the house reno. So Doug painting the engine black....nothing to do with what exterior color will be. My guess is Red, Teal or Pink. 🤔🤔 IF it's Barney Purple I will crack up....🤣🤣 Just don't let it be camo tan. 😳😳 That color is an odd one I see on a certain model truck I've seen often driving here in Jacksonville. Doesn't matter what *I* think... I know. I just admire ya Ashley for being so hands on. My Dad taught me how to check the fluids in my cars. Im 60 now and still do it. Recently did a radiator flush.... 💪 Hey kids!! Don't forget to check your blinkers fluid too!! 🤣😜 Ha! Ha!
Let me just say that you two are so intelligent and knowledgeable about soooooo many things! I have been watching you guys since the start and I have never been disappointed in one video, you both are blessed with talent and I love your channel so much! I check everyday for a new one lol 😂 love you guys! ❤️🥰
I believe in you Ashley....just remember Doug's there for support and some help if he can ! Got get it girl ! Sorry about your hand Doug...take care of that cut !
Very neat job, well done to you both. Ashley, I love the look of the new gear shift lettering. I would never have thought of the stick on letters nor the iridescent paint on the underside. It looks amazing. Y'all have a Blessed day.
Ashley a girl after my own heart i loved being able to get my hands dirty doing engines with my hubby, the feeling is like " yeah i got this " lol well done sweets hugs to family take very good care x
So awesome that Ashley is on video and talking more. I know anxiety can be crippling but you're doing great and you've got a ton of support in this community.
I watched the whole video before I commented. All I can say is ‘WOW, WOW,WOW!’ You guys are so talented. Ashley I love the changing gear display, it looks phenomenal. Be blessed.
Ashley….your doing a fabulous job with your car, it’s going to be beautiful when your done…Doug love how you support Ashley through it, sending you all some ❤
Really a great idea doing the belt and water pump. You kids are smart doing pre-emptive maintenance. Get all the hoses and gaskets and any other rubber parts you can, replaced while the motor is out. Good job on the shifter cover as well.
I guess it doesn't take much to entertain me but oh my gosh, this was fun to watch. As always you all amaze me with the tasks you choose to take on. Love this channel!
Good move replacing the water pump, timing belt and tensioner prior to installation. They are fairly inexpensive parts and easier to replace with the engine out of the car. The reason why those nuts that secure the transmission mount to the subframe were difficult to turn and tighten was because the threads on the mount are interference threads. That is normal and not due to the paint. The threads are slightly undersized to prevent a nut or bolt from loosening when exposed to hard vibrations with the engine running. What most call a "motor mount" is technically called an insulator or dampner by automotive manufactures. They have two purposes. 1) locate the engine and transmission in its proper orientation, and 2) insulate or dampen the vibration of operation from the subframe so that the occupants in the vehicle are less exposed to the vibrations and have a smoother experience driving the car.
Cool! Great to see that engine come out of its hiding. Ashley, I think you could totally finish the car by yourself if you wanted or had to; you look like you're doing good with working on everything. I'm sure Doug's helping direct things, although the more work you do, the less he gets hurt *LOL* Poor feller's been accident-proned here lately, tell him I said to quit doing that! >>:=p Can't wait to hear this thing start up for the first time and move on its own around the property. להתראות!
I always think they should teach to boys and girls alike in school how to change a flat tire, check oil and change it and refill it in shop class and freezing and canning food in home economics along with rising a garden to save money...I taught it to my kids when I home schooled them and they've all used it to some degree...they all ended up knowing more than their counter parts in the public school
I love how you both aren't intimidated to try and fix, rebuild, remodel, restart, anything! What role models you continue to be to your viewers not to mention your kids. Great content!
Hi Doug and Ashley. Thank you for sharing another great video. Very interesting! Ashley you are amazing with this project!👍. Keep safe and God bless your beautiful family 👨👩👧👦 💞
I love how u guys have developed ur team work. Each with ur own quirks that blend together beautifully. Ashley ur creative abilities r spot on. While I can appreciate the mindset that drives Doug. Perfectly in sync and it doesn’t matter is it’s carpentry or auto repair. U make each other shine.

Ashley for the WIN! The shifter looks great! This car will look better then factory when it’s done! Nice job, guys!!

Ashley is such an inspiration! I love seeing her involved in the rebuilding of the motor. Great job y’all! ❤
I am impressed with how talented you both are
You go girl .Cars from this era are great to rebuild. So proud of you all.xx
The car body will look clean and fresh painted white with all the improved plastic parts you've painted black, awesome.

Awesome job Ashley 👏 I must say Florida has been really good for your family. God Bless you all in all you do.

Ashley...you can do it honey. Be well, be safe...to the whole family. I appreciate your Sunday blog 😊
This is definitely the most that I've ever heard Ashley speak in a video. Congratulations on letting your personality shine Ashley.
Good job kids! Glad the horn (beep) works! I recommend using a lamp light or flashlight to see how your shift lever markings look, Ash! Doug I’m with you about painting the engine well! You guys are a pleasure to watch!
ha ha, that's what I was thinking Ashley, "I hope we remember where all this goes". Doug's pretty smart, I think he can remember
Back in the 80's and way before Photoshop, we used these letters on printed photos and then photographed the whole thing to create layouts for medical journals. I loved using them and it took a lot of practice. You did a great job your first time. Way to go Ashley!
I'm stoked to see the final product. Here's an idea, paint it the same color as the bedroom.
Great to see Ms Ashley not afraid of any challenges in front of her! Great work Ms Ashley & Mr Doug
Put a new cam seal and crank seal on it while its apart. You can tell they are seeping.
I agree they are very easy with the motor out

Thanks! This series is really highlighting Ashley's personality for us, enlightening. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
Love it!! Thanks for showing and telling about the water pump. This channel is the right balance of talking, showing, and sharing your experiences.

Thanks, Doug, that red bothers me too. Neat job, Ashley!
"Who thinks I can do this?" We all do. You got this. 😊
That car is going to be running a lot sooner than expected, can’t wait to see what materials the seats will be👍
Oh boy, ITS ENGINE TIME. Scary! ❤ Brave work friends.
I watched the whole video before I commented. All I can say is ‘WOW, WOW,WOW!’
You guys are so talented. Ashley I love the changing gear display, it looks phenomenal. Be blessed.
Great job, Ashley!!! Can't wait to see it completed and the FL Antique Car license on the back. 🥰
Yep, I'm soo looking forward to getting that antique plate!!
I think you can do this Ashley. Don’t doubt yourself and I love that your husband is empowering you
You should add totals so that in the end people can see that it’s probably cheaper to keep cars going over dumping and buying new.
Love the little honk...lol car is coming back to life....hugs
Ashley….your doing a fabulous job with your car, it’s going to be beautiful when your done…Doug love how you support Ashley through it, sending you all some ❤
You guys are amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🏴
Considering I know nothing about car repair etc... I am really enjoying this series thanks ❤
Look at that grease on your hands Ashley! Amazing job young lady!👍❤️
The car is coming alone nicely 👌
Its nice watching the process as you prepare to install the engine. Nice to see the two of you having fun with the process.

Great job Doug and Ashley! I love watching you work together as a team. ❤ You are both amazing!
The shifting assembly looks Awesome! You did a fantastic job restoring it. Good thinking to replace gaskets while the engine is still out of the car.
Can’t wait to see it run! The gear shifter piece looks great! Great job Ashley! Great job painting the engine bay Doug.
I’m really glad you all decided to paint the engine bay. Much better!
Thank you Doug for spraying the engine bay. I wouldn't understand not doing that while the engine was out.

Very few people would tackle something like this. Y'all are doing a stellar job and Ashley is amazing 👌
(ashley- "who thinks i can do this?") without a doubt we believe you can do whatever you are determined to do. - loving these car Episodes.
Ashley was smart for wearing black while working on the car! Looks good on you also!
looks good, I like the stained glass look.
It takes the same energy to do it right as well as wrong. I love how you guys take your time in doing everything you do. Keep it up.
Wow Ash Your attention to details is to be commended that shifter thing came out so good!!
Great job Ash!! Well done Doug! Blessings to you all.
I'm glad you painted the engine compartment. Great job on the shifter panel.
I look forward to this car redo every Sunday!
I love how you both aren't intimidated to try and fix, rebuild, remodel, restart, anything! What role models you continue to be to your viewers not to mention your kids. Great content!
