It's an awful bike for the street, uncomfortable, has pathetic low end power. You have to rev it to 12000 rpm to get any power, low down a 650 class of bike like a sv650 would be faster , the r6 is a waste of time unless you are using it for the track
I’ve ridden both bike and I would choose the 636 over the r6. Handling’s great on both bikes. I was really hoping that I would be crazy about the r6 after riding it because I really like the restyle that they did to it. It’s a really good looking bike but I just wasn’t crazy about the engine and it was really uncomfortable. The 636 is really close to the feel of my 08 cbr600rr. It’s comfortable for a sport bike and the engine has good useable power even within low revs. The 636 is currently my favorite in the 600 class.
What a fantastic bike, only spoilt by the extremely high price tag which will surely make the Kwaka 636 sell even more at £2K less! Great review thanks Mark

Hi Michael ,yes I had a quick play with the d modes as they are called ,the most aggressive had great throttle response but I preferred the standard mode ,my ninja has just high and low power modes ,the low power is mainly if you get caught out in the rain .....I haven't used it yet lol :)
One question: how is the on off fueling like when transitioning from on throttle to off and then on again as you would do when entering and then exiting a corner? Thanks
how would you say the powerband is? when you rev it does it go straight to 10,000 +, is it responsive? does the power come out and the bike pull? or does it need to rev then climb the rpms and then pull? if it revs straight to powerband sweet spot on demand then i would like it if not then ill stick to 636.
Hi Frankie the engine is very responsive,it revs very freely and once it hits 10k it flies to about 16k ,it is quite strong at say 5k but not a patch on my 636,I would no way change my ninja for one of these,I find my 636 engine to be perfect for the road and it's £2000 cheaper All the best mark

Almost 12k for a 600cc bike! How is that justifiable? I bought an 18 month old Tracer 900 for 6k, and suggest the Tracer is more versatile than the R6. Crazy price.
Um yeah...the problem in those sentences was the word "Tracer"... Lol only joking 😁 The Tracer also has problems of its own. Ride at speed and you get its infamous speed wobble. Ride for over an hour and youl feel how hard the seat is, or general discomfort for a tourer... The screen...Ok let's just skip that. Suspension, forks, back brake, no cruise control on a tourer?.... No bike is perfect but a price tag shouldn't be a barrier to buying quality
@@londonsounds6212 What's the problem with the Tracer? Sure 600's can be very powerful, I don't think power is the issue, point is 12K for an R6 is a bit much.
@@applecorpI know 12k is a lot but we are comparing bikes from different categories. If we do that we should also compare things like the forks, the suspension, the back break, the screen, the riding comfort, the wobble that Tracers are commonly critiqued for against a performance sports bike like the r6. The Tracer GT fixed a lot of the issues, even something as small as a longer swing arm made a good difference, the screen is a bit better (still not great for a tourer!). Some will be common to both bikes eg. Undoubtedly the r6 is not comfy on long journeys either. I like the Tracer. The bike I'm really interested in is the Yamaha Niken
@@londonsounds6212 I've heard of the speed wobble, I've not encountered it but then I don't do crazy illegal speeds for it to happen. Seat issues and windscreen issues can be levelled at pretty much any bike out of the box, they are all subjective depending on the rider. I've never had any bike where the stock screen suited me, rear brakes are never that great and they should never be relied on either, they're only an assist to the front brake or for use in slow movement. All that said I'll be the first to point out any issue on any bike and the Tracer is far from perfect, suspension is trash and the fuelling leaves a lot to be desired, needs a custom ECU flash.
The new R6 also uses Yamaha’s D-Mode System, which provides three different engine maps: A, B, and Standard. A is the most aggressive. Naturally, it was used for most of the day at Thunderhill, even in the rain. Standard would be great for urban rides thanks to a smoother power delivery. B is for slick conditions thanks to extremely soft power delivery, yes it has different modes ,but wouldn't really recommend this for a beginner at least until you have a few years experience as it's a 160 mph missile !
Does it have different modes? For beginner.
All the best mark
I'm a noob srry for asking but u dont use clutch to shift gears?
It's got a quickshifter for clutchless upshifts :)
@@markpulling12 oh i see! Thnx for the quick reply
I have never heard an r6 sound , does it sound better than the Daytona?
No I'd say a Daytona 675 sounds better ,but r6 sill sounds great :)
@@markpulling12 Thanks, :)
Hi Mark why would you need a litre sports bike on the roads when Yamaha can put a package like this together 😁
Agreed nik, 600cc is pretty much all the power you need for the roads these days all the best mark
How much is the bike cost with the accessories & akrapovic full system
With everything inc akro I'm guessing £13 k. Eeek
@@markpulling12 How much you are paying per month as a loan?
@@markpulling12 Can you give me the accessories list that u add to the bike? Im buying r6 (next year)
Its a great looking bike and like others have said the price makes no sense
I think it needs to compete with the Ninja 636 price wise thanks Mark
You will be more surprised if you know in some country the price for 2019 R6 is almost 25,000$ after shipping and tax. :D
What is the speed of a motorcycle?
160 mph ish
Might get even more downforce if you make that rear license a bit bigger
Chris Gmail actually it create lift not downforce
