    Fantastic bit of kit, I’m totally biased though as I own one myself. Recently took it to the Dordogne in France. The bike didn’t miss a beat, clocked up in excess of 2000 miles without a problem. Comfortable to ride. Mid range is a little poor, but that’s expected, it comes alive after 10,000rpm.

    Always enjoy the MP reviews on any bike, genuine enthusiasm and honest opinions. As you know I'm team green .. having said that the R6 wins the beauty contest ! Asked to demo one from my local yam dealer and they never bothered getting back to me. 🙄

      It's an awful bike for the street, uncomfortable, has pathetic low end power. You have to rev it to 12000 rpm to get any power, low down a 650 class of bike like a sv650 would be faster , the r6 is a waste of time unless you are using it for the track

    I’ve ridden both bike and I would choose the 636 over the r6. Handling’s great on both bikes. I was really hoping that I would be crazy about the r6 after riding it because I really like the restyle that they did to it. It’s a really good looking bike but I just wasn’t crazy about the engine and it was really uncomfortable. The 636 is really close to the feel of my 08 cbr600rr. It’s comfortable for a sport bike and the engine has good useable power even within low revs. The 636 is currently my favorite in the 600 class.

    • @19805093
      @19805093 5 лет назад +1

      try them out for at least an hour. then make your decision. but over time you will eventually tend to want the type of bike you don't have, simply because you get used to yours and you want something different because you want more power or more comfort.

  • @smileydag
    @smileydag 4 года назад +1

    12:58. You almost used 50% of it's power. It will do 90mph in first gear with a tiny touch on the fly by wire throttle. It will also get the front wheel off the ground if you go into 2nd with the throttle pinned. It is truly a beast of a bike. I have no concept of why anyone wants the 1000 without going to the track.
    Riding the R6: Twist throttle hahahahaha awesome hit the power band at 8k ahhhhh ahhh ok, too fast.

      R3 is a decent machine and it has a lot more power compared to the 125, but it'll ultimately depend on your height and weight.

    Tip put a 1 inch rise clip ons on it. ( apex, wood craft or drivin halos) makes it way better on your wrists. Also once you play with your fork setting for the road it will be even better.
    And gear it down a couple of teeth as you are not going to be doing 250 + all day on the road gearing it down will make it better in 1st gear from a, stand still.. And give you more bottom end..

      Or you can put a 15 t front sprocket on her takes the ratio to 3.06 from 2.88 so more acceleration from a stand still. Another thing also I forgot to mention is you can buy a matolli top triple clamp it's the thinner the oem so that gives you more height too on the oem bars

    Almost 12k for a 600cc bike! How is that justifiable? I bought an 18 month old Tracer 900 for 6k, and suggest the Tracer is more versatile than the R6. Crazy price.

    • @applecorp
      @applecorp 5 лет назад +1

      Lol indeed, I bought a mint condition 2015 Tracer 900 (2000 miles) for £6,500 last year. Much more value for money and as you say more versatile.

    • @londonsounds6212
      @londonsounds6212 5 лет назад +4

      Um yeah...the problem in those sentences was the word "Tracer"...
      Lol only joking 😁
      The Tracer also has problems of its own. Ride at speed and you get its infamous speed wobble. Ride for over an hour and youl feel how hard the seat is, or general discomfort for a tourer...
      The screen...Ok let's just skip that.
      Suspension, forks, back brake, no cruise control on a tourer?....
      No bike is perfect but a price tag shouldn't be a barrier to buying quality

    • @applecorp
      @applecorp 5 лет назад +1

      @@londonsounds6212 What's the problem with the Tracer? Sure 600's can be very powerful, I don't think power is the issue, point is 12K for an R6 is a bit much.

    • @londonsounds6212
      @londonsounds6212 5 лет назад

      @@applecorpI know 12k is a lot but we are comparing bikes from different categories. If we do that we should also compare things like the forks, the suspension, the back break, the screen, the riding comfort, the wobble that Tracers are commonly critiqued for against a performance sports bike like the r6.
      The Tracer GT fixed a lot of the issues, even something as small as a longer swing arm made a good difference, the screen is a bit better (still not great for a tourer!).
      Some will be common to both bikes eg. Undoubtedly the r6 is not comfy on long journeys either.
      I like the Tracer. The bike I'm really interested in is the Yamaha Niken

    • @applecorp
      @applecorp 5 лет назад

      @@londonsounds6212 I've heard of the speed wobble, I've not encountered it but then I don't do crazy illegal speeds for it to happen. Seat issues and windscreen issues can be levelled at pretty much any bike out of the box, they are all subjective depending on the rider. I've never had any bike where the stock screen suited me, rear brakes are never that great and they should never be relied on either, they're only an assist to the front brake or for use in slow movement. All that said I'll be the first to point out any issue on any bike and the Tracer is far from perfect, suspension is trash and the fuelling leaves a lot to be desired, needs a custom ECU flash.

    Does it have different modes? For beginner.

    • @markpulling12
      @markpulling12  5 лет назад

      The new R6 also uses Yamaha’s D-Mode System, which provides three different engine maps: A, B, and Standard. A is the most aggressive. Naturally, it was used for most of the day at Thunderhill, even in the rain. Standard would be great for urban rides thanks to a smoother power delivery. B is for slick conditions thanks to extremely soft power delivery, yes it has different modes ,but wouldn't really recommend this for a beginner at least until you have a few years experience as it's a 160 mph missile ! All the best mark
