And a bit part of this Qawali is also in "Raag" by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan at Noble Peace Prize ceremony. Actually all songs in "Raag" was composed and sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Sahib The Great.

Qalandar Saainؒ was known for his great spiritual personality as he was a holy saint, and in that qawwali Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan sahab sang about his miracles that he was able to do by the will of Allahؐ.

Ustad Nusrat and his nephew Rahat have specialised in a form of spiritual music which is called qawali, it originated in India , legend has it that great sufi saint Hazrat Moin udin Chisti came to india and set up his abode in ajmer, he wanted to preach the teaching of Islam, but no one came, except for random groups of musicians who would frequent him in the evenings along with their instruments. one day the saint invited them to add music to the prose he had written, , the words were divine influenced and spoke of HIS Majesty, His Greatness, (which is present till this day) it was so powerful that hindu population of surrounding areas came to listen and be inspired, this was also effective because bhajan is an integral part of hindu religion , so the similarities were present. But just because unlike bhajan, the qawali was focused on the singularity of the Creator people started converting to islam, Qawali has played a vital part in converting hindus to followers of Islam, thanks to Sufi saints and the medium called qawali.

Nusrat is training young Rahat here on stage. I love it. Basically Rahat got this stuff spoonfed since he was a youngster. There are vids he was a younger kid even singing along. So cool to see again. I love it that you appreciate qawwali!

Here is a bit of improvisation he did in the 1988 Paris concert. This is basically him constructing a tune by playing with 'Do Re Mi'...or 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa'(hindustani version)...i am throwing you towards the deep end but since there are no lyrics here i think you will enjoy what he does here...and theres plenty more so if you like this i can walk you through the whole thing :)

Nusrat is training young Rahat here on stage. I love it. Basically Rahat got this stuff spoonfed since he was a youngster. There are vids he was a younger kid even singing along. So cool to see again. I love it that you appreciate qawwali!
