Can you make money grading cheap cards?

- When people first start with raw-to-grade, they tend to gravitate towards cheap cards, but a lot of people would say you can't make money that way.
I took a look at what I've graded and sold to see how much profit I've made on cheap cards, strategies for what to get graded and more.
Apps/sites I use.....
----
whuppit.com/ for tracking grading accuracy and profit (built this one myself-use RUclips50 for 50% off your first two-months)
marketmoversapp.com/ for tracking pricing trends over time
www.gemrate.com/ for checking gem rates and population data

Killer vid, only suggestion is to show the cards ur talking about more....need them visuals
Good suggestion. I can definitely make sure to do more of that in the future on these.
This was very in depth and informative, thank you!
Great video! the answer to that question is easy: "it depends on the collector". People who make a living off of cards, yes, it might not be worth it. For me, this is ONLY a hobby. I buy raw cards for $1-$3 dollars and grade them and sell them to local sports cards stores. I always come close to at least doubling my money. The key is education. Educating yourself on what is being bought.
"It depends" is not anyone's favorite answer, but almost always the correct one. :) And fully agree on educating yourself on what you're buying. There's a lot of learning involved-learning what sells and what doesn't, what prices are likely to dip or rise and when, how different cards grade & their common issues, etc.
Just came across this video. Really cool to see you crunch your numbers down and share that with everyone! Excited to see more! I've definitely been roasted for grading cheap cards but there is a lot of profit to be made there for those who want to put in a little more work.
Thanks for the shoutout as well! I was definitely surprised to hear my channel mentioned with some of the other ones I love watching!
Yours was one of the very first I stumbled on when I started getting back into the hobby. Thanks for all the incredible content you've put out there!
@@everycardastory No problem! Looking forward to seeing more videos from you soon!
Your app look fantastic! Already registered!
Oh nice! I appreciate the kind words! :) I'll check in with you there to see how you get along. I've got some fun stuff planned for it, I think.
The problem I’ve found with grading low end cards is the amount of time and work required for a $30-$50 return. And sell fees are a pain. But I guess if you enjoy doing it the time spent is not a deal breaker for you. My personal opinion is grading a card with a raw value under $30 does not make sense.
I think you hit the nail on the head-it comes down to how much time you want to be spending on this and what your goal is. The per-card profit is a lot lower, so to make anything significant you need to be grading a lot of volume, which takes a lot more time.
What’s the ste you’re using for you’re analysis I can’t find “Whuppit” I love the breakdowns
It's whuppit.com/ (check the vid description for a discount code)
If 9s of modern cards cost less or more of raw will be the downfall of psa
I think it's going to be really interesting to see what happens with 9's on the ultra-modern stuff long-term. There's a lot of them out there, which I think is part of the problem, but it's really hard to imagine them staying cheaper than raw down the road.
Definitely feels like value for collector's who don't mind nabbing gorgeous 9's instead of paying the 10 premium.
Lower grade like psa 1-7 you can make some money. I heard psa 1 is worth more money than psa 9
