Watch Out: I am aiming for creating a Indiegame(xboxllivearcade/psn) similiar to REZ,but even more awsome, next year when i finished my masters degree. If youre capable of doing anything that could be helpful creating a game(except for music),send me a mail.
Original Soundtrack from REZ ripped from the Disc.
Track: (Adam) Freeland - Fear (is the Mindkiller)

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
― Frank Herbert
This game is like an art masterpiece. I played this 20 yrs ago and still thinking about this stage - Fear is the mindkiller. Perfect form of art - visual, music, game, philosophy.. and beyond.
It really is the entire game coming together. The level is as long as the rest of the game combined, and really hits on everything. So freakin good
I played it on the Dreamcast 22 years ago and I play it today in VR on the Quest 3. Level V is still the best place to live in.
Nothing in life gets close to the feeling in Rez when you have that perfect run & the music just melds & it ALL CONNECTS. Ready Player One wishes it was Rez.
Makes me feel like a superhacker cyberspace entity, especially in VR :D
@@jayqueue6784 it does look like that when you see the game XD
Especally in Rez Infinite's Score Attack with thr slightly harder Area 2, with all the ships shooting missiles at you
It's really amazing how this game track is so much better than the soundtrack version. It's almost painful to compare.
Ages ago, life was born in the primitive sea.
Young life forms constantly evolved in order to survive.
Some prospered, some did not, all sorts of life ebbed and flowed like the tide.
In the quiet rhythm of the mother sea, life grew.
Always seeking to survive and flourish.
Soon life began to advance towards land, opening new habitats.
A great prosperity came, as life conquered even the highest mountains.
Mass extinctions came wave after wave, but empty niches always quickly refilled, to once again prosper, grow, and reproduce.
Someday the next great emigration will occur, as we leave this existence looking for another.
The journey will begin anew.
I hold within me, the memories of all that has passed.
Who am I...
Basically yeah
+justquant Your Resonate virus
OH MY GOD!!! actually the screen that has the message about malware sucking nowadays originally had this text in alpha versions of the virus
justquant
Ayy, lmao
I dunno about that
OH MY GOD!!! I do. I made the virus.
Since nobody in the comments said it, the voice in the song is Cage Kennylz, New York underground rapper
Wow man thanks!
Stage 5 was just so different than the rest of the stages. So memorable. What a tune
Oh yeah!
Which reminds me of how R-Type Delta and Final's last stages were also different like that.
@@ikagura Oh yeah - R-Type rules! R-Type fans unite!
Goodbye, Dreamcast. You were too perfect for this world.
Horrible SDK
I played this on PS2 and since then every console that has supported it Dreamcast isn't part of this tale!
After 20 years I still miss my Sega Dreamcast.
@@jjp8050 the game originally released on the Dreamcast first the PS2 version was a port made later, not the original
So true. PS2 was amazing but Dreamcast was its equal a year earlier w/ gems like Soul Calibur, Jet Set Radio, Resident Evil Code Veronica. 2 most disappointing Sega moves- abandoning DC & Panzer Dragoon Orta exclusive to Xbox
Had this playing while walking home in the rain once, matched so well.
3:17 is fucking mind blowing. Love that drop. Worst part about it, it only is in the game rip. No official version has that part.
You can make it happen yourself if you play the game right... I remember intentionally playing badly to extend measures just to transition layers at the right time for maximum real-world groove.
Amen, fam. Nearly two decades of thinking the exact same thing.
Hopping on your comment six years later to wholeheartedly agree. Most mindblowing when I had the game hooked up to my 5.1 surround system (on the XBLA HD release, the Dreamcast version is hella rare in PAL territories), the volume cranked then BOOM, drop of doom.
All I can say is that it hits HARD in the VR release...
wonder if it’s because they couldn’t clear the California Soul sample for an official release…
The transition at 8:40 shifts it to the best part of the track. I always played this level in Rez just to hear this section. The noise that hitting the eight little gate activators always blended perfectly, but it really hits home during that section.
Awsome!
I was asked to play at local Technoparty back in 2006.I heard that there was a videoprojector installed in the club.So i asked if could bring my ps2.They said yes and the people danced infront a 6 by 4 meter big projection of my buddy playing REZ.It took nearly 3 hours before someone asked :"Is that videoprogramm or a game???"
I turned down the music and yelled:.this in the background is an underground videogame called REZ.Its awsome and i played some tracks of it."
What was the people reaction after you said it?
@@Ofnir- They looked pretty surprised and i think one guy took notes in his prehistoric cellphone.
Hi again, can you say to me how I can unlock the area 5 ?
@@Ofnir- Actually no. I have forgotten how i did it ~18 years ago :) Youll probably find the answer through google. I just played to game over and over and got pretty good (i guess). Suddenly Area 5 was unlocked.
Damn bro I'm only 14 but thanks👍
I always love on the level select screen, when you steadily move your way across the song samples for each level, it's like "mmm, okay, alright, cool, OH SHIT THAT'S FAT"
Aw dang it, I guess Rez Infinite doesnt have that as that version revamped the menu
Dude, this is a perfect gamerip. Fucking props to you. I never though I would ever find a perfect version.
I owe the zaibatsu my life for introducing me to the masterpiece that is Rez
It was a good run while it lasted.
I miss them.
Love this song and this game so much. Just learned that the epic sample from 3:20 is from “California Soul” by Marlena Shaw.
Thank you!
i knew it sounded really familiar
I still play this game from time to time. One of the best on-rail shooters ever.
3:17 If the phrase "fuck yeah" had a theme song, this would absolutely be it.
8:15 when I get chills when that beat drops
This song has so many goosebumps moments. 3:17 might be my favourite, but 9:11 comes close. Along with one of the most epically designed stages in a videogame, ever... this is one of gaming's peak moments.
Used to play Rez when we were coming up on x way back in the day. This music was soooo choice for that gradual rising feeling. Shit was INTENSE.
This is still one of the most beautiful games I've ever played.
100 years in the future REZ will still be ahead of the time.
Listening to this with headphones, I can feel the bass vibrate in my skull
Hearing it Rez Infinite now! Never gets old.
This was my favorite song from the game. The first time I heard how the song changes at 8:12 and how it progresses through the end while finishing the stage was absolutely awesome.
Referencing Dune with "Fear is the mind killer" is appropiate, since this game has that Dune's "slow blade" approach to difficulty; you're blasting away, getting that dopamine from every 8X next layer sound, and then suddenly you're getting your ass handed to you by missiles that you SHOULD have seen coming.
One of the most stunning games I've ever played since 86. Masterpiece! And a shame that these games are dead... Another Panzer Dragoon, or Rez... would love to see them.
Ch1n4m4nn Child Of Eden was great, it at least held the torch for a while.
True, got it also but as you said: It was fun for a moment, but it wasn't that fascinating like rez
+Ch1n4m4nn Rez Infinite was just announced for PS4 / PS VR. Rejoice!
+Nathan Ainslie Ive seen the trailer two days ago, and it looks promising, but i have my doubts that the controls via VR will be that cool. Maybe for 10 mins, but for a longer session? Im not sure.
John Galois The games lives from the beats, the percussions the sounds you make when you shot. Actually its quite not a game... I see it more like a journey.
I'm loving how gradually song evolved with every minute.
9:10 is my favorite part
Thankyou so much for doing this. I have been waiting for a long ass time for these edits to be made.
in a track set to the evolution of life, 3:16 is the first amphibian dabbing to the camera and hitting the beach like it's a dance floor
Hahaha holy shit
Rez is just awesome... It's like falling in a deep hole when you loose, because you get that much into it.
Amazing soundtrack to this game. Still listen fairly regularly to the tunes, though haven't picked up the game in years.
I thank Scott Manley for showing me this.
What, who, why?

Oh?? Where is this huge Rez sound Project?
I see so many gamer creators who love REZ and want projects based on it.We should unite.
the break around 3:25 is just insane...
This is definitely my favorite song from Rez. This remix is pretty impressive and really lends itself to the stage really well. I like when the genres are crossed in Q? software titles. Reminds me of Andy Hunter's music appearing in the mobile version of Lumines. Always a good soundtrack in these games...
Awesome rip of the full track! Somehow this song takes the best part of California Soul and makes it 10 times better- I just did a comparison and both are good but the track is legendary! Always think of that drop when I think of the game.
I think what makes this rendition so good is because of how it blends the tracks. You have the main bass lead with its distortion, followed by the suddenly crispy track section and clear sound "effect" (Mind Killer). It all comes together perfectly.
Couldn't stop playing this when it first come out. Got 100% except for the very last level- missed the last virus and got 99.9. Gutted. Something about it wouldn't leave my mind. Such an amazing game on Sega's final console......
Simply the most incredible track I've heard so far. Unique build-up! This is not a song, this is a trip. thank you :)
REZ needs a switch port. 😍
Such an amazing, versatile track. I especially love how it ends.
One of the coldest beats ever created.
F'ing amazing. Love the remix of "Mind Killer".
3:15 is my favorite part of the song.
3:20 California Soul is the mind killer
Agreed. The difference is truly remarkable. I love this version so much more.
good times. I remember playing this on my dreamcast.
Oh, beautiful. The version that is on Gamer's Guide to is such rubbish compared to what plays in the game.
This song has that feel when you smoke some good ass weed and you just REZonate in the highest possible vibration, and start poppin' and lockin' like a wocky. Wow! this could be some good tuner cruise music. A bunch of Tuners cars just driftin' around being mad fun and shit.
Wow it’s 2021 I just came across this amazing!!
Phase 6! Thanks, 3:20 mention. Those two effects give me awesome thought processes. NiGHTS would Rez in a DJ's dream, guaranteed. I NEED to watch Rez Stage 5, WITH ingame effects. Awesome.
Absolutely perfect. I love you for uploading this.
Mindblowing song.
There are multiple paths that humanity may take: our nature will shape the cyberspace, and that nature was born by the earth herself. Thus within the very core of our cyberspace, a goddess will be born.
For anyone wondering, 3:17 is sampled from California Soul - Marlena Shaw
It also reminds me of the beginning of Galvanize by The Chemical Brothers
@@asnierkishcowboy it's because the bass motion and phrasing is kinda similar. They both ascend up the scale going to root, then second, flat third and last fourth in terms of phrasing at the intro (ascending both I, II, bIII, IV but California Soul uses in the song a more diatonic ii).
Rhythm wise they both have the short rhythm phrasing section for two bars into a kind of longer melodic bit for another two bars. Also the big beat/dance underneath. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_beat
This song is purfect while coding stuff in Java
Holy crap. Thank you so much, it's been driving me crazy trying to figure out where I heard that sample.
Try out Child of Eden for ps3/360. It's not as good as Rez IMO but it's similar and still fun.
Did you know it's actually the spiritual sequel to it? Eden is the woman in REZ
Wish they’d re-release it on PS4/5
Didn't expect to see the fighting game daddy in the comments. Glad to know jmcrofts has good taste in music.
yeah i figured that out too when i heard that song just today. what a coincidence that i would look up this song and just happened to have listened to california soul
Rez, especially this level, was pretty much a religious experience for me.
That Marlena Shaw sample is absolutely banging in this
You Sir, are a man with godlike music taste. I salute to thee.
Who is here from Napoleon Blownapart’s video? Pride Never Die!
It was created by Neil Voss and should be availible on youtube.I bet loved Phony. It was such an energetic piece its just unbelievable that this was music in a nintendo 64 game (the n64 has no seperate soundprocessor, wow i am still a hardcore freak ^ ^)
The stretch at 3:17 has enough oomph to wake the dead.
This sounds so different when you're not actually playing... i'm almost disappointed, but impressed at the same tyme.
Mhhh ill consider that, when working on my REZ Project.
Even after getting the platinum I still just play this level every now and then for fun.
THE most amazing level in a video game.ever.in the history of the world.
This level is an absolute masterpiece. I don't particularly like playing Rez, but damn, this level is beautiful to watch. As far as I can tell, nothing in Child of Eden comes close.
The percussion line that plays during the... Second part of the song (?), Like around the 1:00 mark, is one of my favorite percussion rhythms ever.
I wish this actual full game rip was on Spotify.
this is an absolute banger
fuckin love this game's entire soundtrack
I wish you luck on that bro. I know it ain't easy making a game like this but you have my support for sure
My favorite track from the game, followed by Ken Ishii and Joujouka. :-)
I used the statement "Fear...is a mind killer" for an essay in school last year. In fact, I used it for my midterm. I absolutely love the effect added in phase 3 of this song, as well as another one that I forgot the phases of appearance. I think Rez is too obscure, worse than another Sega, NiGHTS. It should be brought to light once more.
Agreed, this is way better than the "official" Fear track on the Rez Gamer's Guide soundtrack
Thank you sooo much for this!!!!
REZ is in my top 3 games ever.
best track in the game!! Can you buy the OST??
This game was AMAZING on the PlayStation VR
can't wait to down load the full version on my ps4 vr mind blowing
One of the best video game song.
GG ADAM
Anyone else find this after watching Napoleon Blownapart's PrideFC video? Great track.
8:13 gets me everytime
A funny thing I noticed on Rez Infinite is that 'California Soul' is credited to the original artist despite it not appearing in It's entirety. It's used as a short set of audio cuts that are less than 10 seconds.
Shouldn't that then come under fair use? The 'California Soul' credit does NOT appear in any other version other than the Playstation 4 remaster.
Is it just me or am I just seeing things?
I posted this vid in 2009 but i added this statement later. Not sure if it was done one year ego or maybe 15 months.Anyway im working on my master thesis in math at the moment and ill graduate in march i think. Then i can concentrate on the project. At first i barely a had glimpse of whats possible/realistic for a "indie"project. But im surprised positively.I finally have a pretty neat concept but were far away from a demo showing the features yet.Therell be a project page if theres content :)
i still remember unlocking this area and i was insanely surprised since i didn't expect an entire new area just for completing the 4 areas at 100%ish (can't remember the exact requirements, but something like that).
then i just saw that beautiful "area 5" field and listened to the preview track and it was just... so incredibly beautiful!
when i started area 5 i was whispering sth. like "what the fuck, this is awesome!" and went through my first trip without drugs.
nostalgia feelings 'bobut that
Thanks for uploading this. Luv Rez
one of the best things to come out of SEGA
BIG BEAT WILL NEVER DIE
you make good critical points. I personally feel as though CoE seems to be updated re-tread of Rez's levels for the most part. (except for beauty, which is my personal favourite level in the game.)
CoE is still as fun as Rez but everything is presented more vibrantly and is fully textured. I'm not sure if I like that as much though, the wire-frame graphics in Rez are so charming and aesthetically pleasing.
Napoleon Blownapart got me here
Same...pride supercut
@dxmwolf It's also getting a PS3 release later this year, and the 360 version uses a controller, too.
So so gorgeous.
thank you for redirecting me to the REZ-like music with the info in the bio
Check out REZ HD and its soundtrack too. It has some nice edits and new tracks.
@@asnierkishcowboy I totally will, thanks for the input
@@asnierkishcowboy let me ask this too: I’m a game designer & 3D artists currently developing a game, so, do you thingk I could integrate this song into my work without any consequences?
@@yellow13_ Probably not. The song is created by Adam Freeland and contains sampels from Marlena Shaw's "Carlifornia Soul", so theres loads of potential for copyright problems. BTW. I make music.
@@asnierkishcowboy We’re on an amateur level budget, might need SFX and background music tho, if you’re into those
Sound extracting isn't so hard, just only seems to be possible with the PS2 version at the moment. I've been using those for ages to make a huge Rez sound project.
Wow I didn’t realise how damn loud the air pod pro2 are until 4:54 now I’m deaf 😂
fear is mind killer!!
