  • A video showing the very first testing of Arrow Dynamics' 4th dimension roller coaster (a test section, anyway). This video was taken at Arrow's facilities in Clearfield, Utah. Notice that in this early version, the seats face forward. This concept would be further refined, and become X, and later X2, at Six Flags Magic Mountain. The concept would be used again on Eejanaika at Fuji-Q Highland in Japan, BY S&S Power, the company that purchased the bankrupt Arrow Dynamics.

The definition for a fourth dimension roller coaster is one whose seats rotate in a controlled manner

I'm so glad there's going to be another one of these in 2011. Now I just really wish I could go to China...

Actually --and I'm a year too late-- people don't say THE X, they really do say "let's go on X," or "X2"

@channyandjerry they also added audio and visual effects, thus changing it from a 4th dimensional roller coaster to a 5th dimensional roller coaster.

Nice video. Glad to finally have a video other than inside the amusement park.
Are you an employee for S&S?
Were you previously an employee for Arrow Dynamics?
    This is a great video.

None of it it's the lifesize model that Arrow made when designing the 4d type coasters.

I hate that too. You don't say "I'm talking to The Matt right now. ... It's Just Matt. You don't add "The" to proper names (he obviously doesn't know the English language)

What about Giant Dipper? Wouldn't it be easier to say "I'm going to ride The Giant Dipper"?

Stop calling it THE X. IT's just X or X2. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people add the word "THE" to the front of coaster names. Unless "The" belongs there, DON'T use it. That means NO: The Deja Vu, The Ninja, The Tatsu, The Revolution, The Batman, The Scream etc.

that large bang at the end... was that the car smashing into the wall or something then coming back?

@vodkafall Why? They're ideas were unique, yes, but all of their designs (as in trains, track systems, etc) were inferior and created maintenance and ridership nightmares.

does that suddenly make Bizarro (SFNE) a 4-dimensional coaster, then? The whole X2 being 5D because of a couple theatrical effects is just another bad marketing idea.

No. You'd say I'm going to ride THE rollercoaster, since it has no name. Once a name has been assigned it is then "I'm going to ride X or Scream etc"
You can't say it both ways. You can, but you wouldn't be correct, using "The"
I, along with others who know enough about the coaster industry consider this one of the dumbest mistakes people make. The general public knows so little when they think they know a lot about a coaster or park.
