A great band, great musicians, great song writers and great entertainers the Rascals are!!!! Too bad Felix is hidden in the back as he belts out this great tune, Ive Been Lonely to Long. Rest In Peace Dino Daneli.
I totally second that emotion that they didn’t need any gimmick with a sound like theirs. These dudes were way ahead of the blue eye soul before another incredible group came along. - Hall & Oates . 👍👍👍
Great and historic television preserved. Alison, you are appreciated by many many fans of great entertainment... including the old Al Martino fans (and I do mean Old.... like me). Thanks again (and again and again) for all the wonderful video postings!
James Brown and The Rolling Stones on the show too...Stones were on VERY EARLY in their career The bands played LIVE so many were likely hesitant to suck... Young Rascals Stones James Brown Moby Grape All stellar players
Mike Douglas show was the best for getting bands of the 60's & 70's on, his interviews with Sly stone was great tv in the early 70's, sly was great, those shows were fantastic.
This is live out of Philly! And look closely in the background, Gene Cornish is using a Standel Artist series amplifier, looks like two JBL 15" speakers. Notice the speaker chrome dome on the speaker.
Alison I saw Your latest Video with Your Father The Great Al Martino and as The Co- Host on the Mike Douglas Show in the early 1960's and I just loved it! Sincerely Your Friend Thomas Colina of The Playlist "AL MARTINO'S GREATEST HITS" By Thomas Colina!
These guys are really good live in Felix behind that really big ham in B3 organ oh my God can you Magine going on tour with that big Orgaan When everybody else we’re playing vox continental organs are the four fees Oregon anyways really good video
@@mariantreber8055 The Little Rascals was a hugely popular show in the 1950s and well into the 60s. There was no TV in the 1920s. The Rascals were well aware of that show. It's where they got their name and the idea for the outfits.
I'm a huge Rascals fan, but just thought I'd toss in the fact that Ray Manzarek of The Doors covered Bass on a Rhodes Keyboard Bass. They were a trio w/a lead singer. And it wasn't long before Guitar, Bass & drums power trios like Cream were filling huge arenas. But I get your point! I saw The Rascals live & they sounded plenty "full." What a great group!
Actually, only 2 musical instruments, organ and guitar. Just wonder if Felix ever played bass pedals on his Hammond Organ? I don't think that was the case because you can't hear any bass pedals. Just heard this live version today for the first time. Note how the little fill in harmonies by Gene and Eddie are done by french horns on the record. Living in the midwest when the Rascals came out, all I knew about them was their records, of which "Good Lovin" and "Grovin" gave me the impression that they were black guys.
Ironic that these guys while very successful, out performed the Beatles live, with better musicianship, and darn good writing skills, but didn't get the same level of success. goes to show you, being in the right place at the right time means more.
The rascals were huge. But they didn't stand the test of time. Steven van zandt went to bat for them big time to get them.in the hof. They had been largely forgotten.
It's Lea from Mantoloking your cousin. Louis took me and my sisters to the shipby mantoloking bridge when I met you. . Then you David would visit our house on the beach.
I disagree. Not sure how old you are. The Monkees at the time, with their TV show hit were red hot in popularity, like it or not. As far as pure talent and longevity, the Rascals win all day long.
That's what I was talking about. The Monkees were a "ground breaking"' quartet, that were famous for being, untalented singers. They were marketed as personalities, and made a successful career at that. Rascals were less popular and more talent. Most people know all four names of each of the Monkees, not so with the Rascals. Rascals are forgotten in popularity.
Actually, they weren't untalented at all. Davey had a pretty successful career in musical theater before the Monkees, Mickey had a good voice and a truckload of charisma. Mike had a pretty successful career after the Monkees.
Love them! I love Eddie's accent "teeny-boppas" ❤
the rascal were and are the best band of all time
The Rascals were extremely talented singers, songwriters and musicians. The best band of that era.
Wow, what a voice of keyboarder!!!!! Out of the park!
I love this guy, he and David Brigsti both great vocalists.Handsome talented Eddie never gets enough mentions for what he brought into the Rascals.

The rascals didn’t need a gimmick their songwriting spoke for itself
So true 👍👍👍👍 Also those knickers were not even cool then !!!
I always thought they wore those knickers because they wanted to look like the little rascals. Eddie was the only one wearing them by this time.
Great band!! They were the heart of the 60s. Fell in love Eddie then; still in love.

Wonderful, classic video that brings such great memories❣🎶👍

Ali- I was wandering around RUclips looking for Rascals songs and I found YOU! BABAY! :) AWESOME!
Dino should've said...."no,...Paul looks like me".
He might be one of Paul’s replacements.
He looks nothing like Paul.
@@mariantreber8055 He looks like Ringo.............when I take my glasses off.....
Luv the video. Gr8 live performance. Luv the Rascals 4ever.
Great how they perform 'Lonely Too Long' live and fill in the blanks of the studio arrangement. These guys lost nothing when they went live,
Mike Douglas might have been a square but he had the Young Rascals and Moby Grape on for us to love. Also "live". Thank you.
Mike Douglas was not square! He did get a little more hip in the late 60s-early 70s.
Rolling Stones and the Harpers Bizarre too.
@@harvey1954 Also the Hollies.
@@bhodges00 Haven't seen it yet. Love the Hollies.

Now that's LIVE rock and roll.
Such a great band
The Young Rascals Live!! Can't beat that! Long Live the Rascals!
Thanks for sharing! Love their energy and raw talent!!
first time i ever noticed the tambourine pads, makes sense
i remember seeing this when i was a kid
Thanks great performance I never saw it

Dino did look like Paul. Such a handsome man.
Made my day. Thank you.
"Michael, I didn't know you knew Johnny Fontaine!" ---Diane Keaton, "The Godfather"
'bah bahhh bbahhhhhh!' sooo good
Love it!😎
It's odd how so many people never make the costume connection between The Young Rascals & "The Little Rascals" & their 1920's Era garb.
And that so many don't realize that a "gimmick" was what got you noticed then, in the sea of suits.
1920s was a hundred years ago. I was not around then to see Little Rascals. My parents were growing up, then.

Thank you Bill!
This is a lifetime ago.....
Dino was the best drummer!
No Doubt!
Just wondering if Dino snare drum is tuned hi or medium.but I like that bass drum sound rip Dino 😢
I guess Al Marino (Johnny Fontaine) never "got that part in that movie!"
1:47 Who was that speaking in an angry mid atlantic accent?
Professor Irwin Corey. 😊
Amazing sound for only 3 guys on instruments.
Amazing is right! And their live performances were something 2 behold. Awesome. And yeah...w/only 3 instruments!

DEeMON They may not have been as exalted as the Beatles but they were definitely big with hit after hit. Everybody loved them and their records .
You can't compete with the songwriting quantity and quantity of the Beatles catalog, they were a machine releasing hit after hit.
not sure but didn't The Young Rascals perform as one of the opening acts for The Beatles 1965 Shea Stadium concert?
@@fbtool yes, it's s no doubt, but the overall superior musicianship of the Rascals I'd obvious if you are a musician

Felix and his organ are set up bad... should be sideways! Great clip... great group... great song...
was mei brooks the rascal clone?
Pat Cooper I believe.
Next...The History of Drugs
Mike Douglas didn't have a clue.... Great band.
I remember the Mike Douglas show. His show would book all the major bands of the time and he did not know shite. Not his generation, obviously.
he had a clue he had the Stones on in 64 always had rock groups in the mid 60's, UNHIP? Yeah!
Each time Mike Douglas interviews a band from this era he comes off square or way out of touch.
That's because he was. Most of the TV hosts at that time were around his age and just never "got it."
Was Pat Cooper the mook?
no. professor Irwin Corey.
Come on, are you serious? Pat Cooper was not a midget. Irwin Corey is the funny, loudmouth.
Why couldn't have Eddie Brigati learned how to play bass? Felix sang most of their major hits. Taken some of the workload off of Felix.
The Monkees? That's not saying much.

@@mikedunkling6840 And Peter Tork, despite portraying the resident flake in the group, was no lightweight, either.
The Monkeys were a made for tv band.
Never mind Dino looking like Paul McCartney, I think Eddie looks like Mussolini!
Taking a cheap shot at Eddie but still a great performance and video.
