The Divinyls really knew what they were doing when they covered this fantastic song. This was the first version I ever heard. When I heard Chrissie sing it, she added another level of 'sexy' to the song and I fell in love with this song again.
I only just learned that the Divinyls were covering this song. The original is so lame by comparison - it is a credit to the Divinyls that they found something here that was worth reworking.
Love The Young Rascals. I am Australian have loved them since I was 13. I am 68 now. Eddie was gorgeous. At the time they were equal in my mind to Australias Easybeats.
Thanks for posting! Never saw this when it aired, but what a treat to see it today! Great version of a bangin' song by a classic band (and performed live too). Love me some Rascals! ❤☮🌎
A three-fourths Italian and one-fourth Canadian artist/group! Interesting combination! The three Italians are: Dino Danelli (RIP), Eddie Brigati, and Felix Cavaliere. The Canadian is Gene Cornish. Speaking of Eddie, he does the lead vocals on this song and on How Can I Be Sure, while Felix does lead on all of their other hits.
I was at "The Barge" in 1965 standing right next to Felix's B3 and close enough to the band to see every move. It was an incredible summer. Leslie West and "The Vagants" Blew minds down Dune Rd. and Billy Joel played B3 with"The Hassels" at "The Eye". Talk about a Rock and Roll summer! We were so lucky!
So much style. Each and every one of them. I saw them live 35 years ago with The Association and Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Can you even imagine? Truly blessed.
Awesome. Their first hit from late 1965. Notice the “Young” missing on Dino’s bass drum, which I believe was imposed by their record company, until it was finally dropped in 1968 when they recorded A Beautiful Morning.

Not sure what show he was hosting here. King was in many movies and all over variety TV back in the day. Maybe he hosted Shindig! or Hullabaloo at one point. He paved the way for Seinfeld and many other comics.

These guys are sooooo talented, & ouch, Eddie Brigati voice is really sexy in this song (soulful, bluesy with a lot of attitude) I've noticed in this video & others that they all have rhythm, watch them move!
Yeah. The Rascals are a great band but I really love the songs where Eddie leads. There's this one and then there's "How Can I be Sure", where Eddie rocks a tarantella. Ecstatic.
@@meggiewillis9705 At 33 you have no reason to be familiar with Allen King (TV variety show host) or the Young Rascals (pop band) from the mid 1960's.
