There is just something about New England scenery that just lends itself to model railroading especially when it’s done right and yours is done beyond right I look forward to further progress updates All the best.
Beautiful layout Marty….really like the open country scenery and old New England industries/structures…need to go back and watch your forced perspective videos….Merry Christmas
I definitely enjoyed that a lot! I like the curve with the super trees with the gradual hill. I subscribed too!! Great layout basically what I’m trying to achieve!
Hi Marty. Great looking layout and thanks for the update. Do you have any issues with only using the turnout switch blades to provide power to the frog section. From what you said you only use hand throws for the turnouts and therefore no other electrical switches to power the frogs. I have found that over time you cannot rely on the blade to make good contact on the outer rail to take power through to the frog. I use the AUX switch contact on my switch machines to power the frog for reliable powering of the frog. I also have a dropper from EVERY piece of rail on the layout to the DCC buss. That way you get good power to the locomotives and do not rely on track joiners to carry power or having to have keep alives in the locomotives. BTW nice to see someone NOT using red and black for the DCC buss for a change as it is not plus & minus and saving those colours for real power supply buss lines like 12Vdc for distribution around the layout. Having colours other than red & black helps with wire tracing and fault finding too. Cheers Brendon
Brendon, Thanks for the kind words. I obviously wasn't clear enough - that one Peco turnout leading into staging I showed is the only one of the layout that's hand thrown. All the other turnouts are thrown with Tortoise switch machines - and the frogs are powered using the built in switches in the Tortoises. I've found while powered frogs are critical with most newer diesel locomotives they are absolutely essential with brass steam engines. I think powered frogs and keep alives are key to getting reliable performance from brass steamers. As far as the wire color choice, as I said I went with green and white since that's what I had on hand!
How about a section whereas a fan can provide wind that wisps the grass and the trees? Good luck on that but if possible then video realism would abound.

All the best.
Great looking layout... I agree with manual turnouts in the yard...
This layout looks amazing!! Love the videos!
Amazing layout and attention to detail. I love that little red truck, I'd love a full size version, but it still wouldn't look are good as your model.
Most impressive!
Your scenery is spectacular. I love how realistic you placed the fall trees and the coloring is spot on.
Thank you so much 😀
What a lovely layout with that beautiful New England fall scenery! Nice large layout space as well. Rgds from Holland, Joachim
Thank you very much!
Very iimpressive scenery! Really liking how it looks like you are there in person!
Thank you very much! I like the walking around the layout approach to these updates - makes them easier to record as well.
Love the rusty ESSO sign! :)
Me too! I'm told that it shouldn't look weathered and rusted like that - but I like it!

Interesting thought. I think the wind effect would be noticeable on the static grass - to get it to look like through the trees would be a challenge.
@@cvsne678 It definitely wouldn't be easy but if you did you'd have something (a realism) that nobody else has ever done.
