I didn't know mackerel clouds were rare, I didn't even know they had a name I see them all of the time and just assume it's normal and don't think about it
In the Midwest, I see them frequently! I was surprised to see them here.
They aren't in the least bit rare. They are one of the most common clouds types and also don't necessarily predict approaching storms. Sometimes they appear simply because there is a pressure or temperature change approaching. This video is very basic and generalized. Still, altocumulus clouds can be beautiful, particularly at sunset.
Same mate same
i though mackerel cloud were common i see them a lot of times
btw i live in jambi, indonesia
Same
1:28 this cloud is too common in philippines
I was really waiting for the glow cloud...

concerning a Mackeral sky, I had a friend that called it a "buttermilk sky" because it looks the remains of a glass of buttermilk.
I was looking at clouds for an hour today (i usually never look at clouds) and now your notification came up,what a cloudy day...
DigitalGhost 333 You looked at clouds from both sides now? You really don't know clouds at all.
Mike Simonian ,nope no i dont

you know there are a lot of sheep clouds in Israel and storms dont come after them
and we see them usually in the summer
Fuck israel
They don't always mean storms. Sometimes they just mean that low pressure is approaching. This video is pretty general and makes quite a few mistakes.
I once saw a cloud like the thinking emoji 🤔

85°C? That’s 185°F! When is the stratosphere that hot? I think you mean it has to be lower than *-85°C* because polar stratospheric clouds require very cold temperatures. Wikipedia was an easy fact check.
Kitterz I actually have pictures of those clouds in Southern California and Southern Utah. A lot of them...
But only after massive chem trailing
Dawn A I don’t see any of that in my area of Michigan. I know a very long time ago there were experiments in cloud seeding, but much of that never really worked out (Vietnam War). I can’t imagine it’s extremely prevalent-but I’ll be long dead before any govt data would be declassified if there are any experiments like that.
-85°C is also pretty cold don't ya think? 😂
@@bishopchrist5191 not for the skies (Mesosphere can be that cold)
@@-csotanypure-5106 The only clouds that form in the mesosphere are noctolucent clouds.
My reaction? Total fascination as I love anything weather related!! These clouds have been exytraordinarily beautiful! Thank you!
Да, отлично смотрятся. Однако это - образцово-паказательно подобранная облачность.
Here in Oklahoma we get the mammatus clouds usually after a thunderstorm. I remember seeing it one time after a tornado around sunset when I was a kid. The clouds were black and the sky light from the setting sun was red, giving it an ominous but spectacular view.
I would have loved to have seen that, I bet it was amazingly beautiful
I have been lucky enough to see the Mammatus clouds three times here in Lutherstadt Wittenberg, Germany.......the first time was in 2002 this was a precursor to a huge storm, which lifted the garden shed of off its moorings ...The second time was a very gentle start to the clouds....gradually building up toward the West at Sunset....which then coloured the Mammatus, the most amazing colours of Pink, Purple and peach...the Third time was during the day...and the highlight was to see about 10 Storks....flying in front of the coming Storm.
June Johnson I always thought they were normal, I’ve seen them 8 times living on the coast of Texas. The gulf brings many storms, but oddly enough they are never before a hurricane. It’s strangely terrifyingly quiet before a hurricane and you can sense the danger.
At 2015or 2014
My Brother and I saw this weird cotton clouds and it turned out to be a rare cloud
Mammatus cloud
I live about 50 miles east of the Rocky Mountains, and see lenticular clouds often. In summer I've seen mammatus clouds as well. They usually appear after a storm.
Number 2 I have seen it twice within the last 3 years now.
Jonathon Mecklenburg Same i see it like once or twice a month
God i cant spell thats why i edited it
I've seen the shelf clouds once as I was driving home. There was a pretty good storm that came with it, though nowhere near what I thought. I definitely pulled over and took pictures!
I have seen the mackerel clouds before, and also the cumulonimbus clouds and a small shelf cloud. All of these are quite beautiful.
Back in september 2012, Malta, we had a massive enough shelf cloud to remove all daylight right at 7pm (it gets dark at 9pm) That same thunderstorm produced 300mm of rainwater in 2 full rainy hours. A hunter was struck dead in his car by CtoG lightening too. I was able to witness that all from a church bell tower...
Duca C_04 wow. My question is...how? That's honestly terrifying!
@@shelbycantrell1222 i know.. The time when the shelf clour rolled in, i was ringing bells for feast... It got dark in 5 minutes.. It was the worst storm i witnessed.... After the cloud rolled in i sudden stopped all bells and went running streight down... Thunders were lightening every second all of them close c to g... Then i awaited the storm to stop.... 2 hours of heavy downpour i saw all from a small window about 2 stories unferneath the bells in yhe bell tower
Duca C_04 wow. I have never seen a storm that bad. Just wow.
Duca C_04 and by the way, I am new on your channel. Just subscribes.
I remember yesterday i saw cloud that looked like collosal titan.
Another one you missed was virga. It appears as rain but never touches the ground. Super saturated clouds rain into the atmosphere but super heated ground evaporates the rain before it can reach ground.
Virga is so beautiful, but it's frustrating when we need rain so much...wonder if you could drag a big sponge thru it with a helicopter...
You must also live in the desert.
northern NM, Taos county, high desert, lots of virga. One time near Albuquerky, at sunset, the virga was purple and pink.
moo moo We get that a lot in Tucson too. Especially during monsoon. We really do have purple mountains here.
NOPE IT HAARP!
Mackerel sky seems pretty common where i live
swegboy jenkins i didn’t see the video yet where did they show it?
I feel like I'm on cloud nine watching this. So strange but beautiful.
I love your channel and love learning about amazing things that the world has to share so keep up the good work guys
You should talk about fog, which is what we get when clouds are on the ground and it's not a tornado.
Take care and God bless.
Jason Irelan i think we know what fog is
Awesome :)
I love to see clouds.cloud are so beautiful ☁️☁️
Have to say I've seen most of these living here in Winnipeg Manitoba. I've even seen the swirling start to a tornado that didn't get anywhere close to the ground, Shelf clouds that pelted my workplace with rain so heavy we couldn't see down the block, Mammatus clouds, Massive Cumulonimbus overtaking and expanding into neighboring ones, lightning dancing across the sky in the middle of the night from a mostly-glass living room. This took me back to my high school days, after I created a science fair project that earned me a bronze medal in my province. Thank you for the walk down memory lane.
Living in the midwest (illinois/missouri area) we are no stranger to shelf clouds.. just two days ago had a monster pass over my area. And yes it almost looks like the end of the world, had a few tornadoes from neighboring communities
Yeah they are super scary. Hi from Missouri.
I have seen shelf clouds before
I saw number 6 in the late 90s in the UK It was awesome. Interesting thank you
The squirrel at minute 8:34 I couldn't stop laughing ! That make my day!
I’m amazed that I’m early to watch a video
The music makes this all the more better.
I’ve seen aspiritus clouds a couple times. Theyre really cool!
I’ve also seen lots of lenticular clouds over Mt McKinley/Denali. They were pointed out to me in elementary school and I’ve noticed them ever since.
i saw this really weird cloud, it was really big and dark grey
It might of been a big storm.
Ooh...this is so weird...
Vio Rose really
The clouds look magnificent and the ones that form in certain areas I hope I can see and the rare ones! :D
Sheep clouds are pretty common where im from :) Ty for the cool pictures!
Polar Stratospheric clouds only form when certain conditions are met:
1) the temperature must be below 85°c.
....um .... it's always less than 85°c, isn't it?
Yeah because 85°C is like 180°F right?
He probably meant negative 85 celsius.
LegendMeadow I’m trying to figure that one out too lol. 85 degrees C is only 25 degrees C short of the boiling temperature of water! 🥵 lol. Must be -85 degrees C, or -121 degrees F. Doing a quick google image search, you’d typically find -85 degrees C about 80km above the earths surface
Once while driving I saw a cloud formation ahead, that looked like a giant hand giving me the finger. I don't know if the name for that is printable.
He angry at you
Cool I learned something new
Loved this vid!
AMAZING
I have just one word for those clouds...wow!
Better than the 10 strangest clouds not caught on camera.
Now these are amazing
So bootiful (beautiful)
In Wisconsin I've seen most of these. Some are actually quite common here.
I saw mammatus clouds over Terrell, Tex about 8 yrs ago shortly after my grandmother passed away. I explained it as "heaven bursting wide open because they never had such an angel!!"
Wow amazing like you
Make more weird top 10 veideo I love it
wow! I'll be looking-up@ the clouds, I'm doin' fine up here on cloud-9-☺⛅🌈 I"d love to see the Morning Glory....cloud formation what a wonderful treat that would be. ☁ Great video.💓

Very good info, luv seeing the clouds ☁️
The most common place to see mammatus clouds is a supercell (thunderstorms that form a disc and can produce tornadoes)
I saw asperitas clouds in McDonough, Georgia the day before the "Blizzard of '93", and several times before and since.
I saw the Kelvin-Helmholz over the Gulf of Mexico near Mobile on Thanksgiving Day in 2018.
Let us not forget the majestic and terrifying supercells in the super-outbreak of tornadoes 3 April, 1974.
And no mention of sun dogs, nacreous images of the sun diffracted through cirrostratus? Beautiful!
Only once have I seen Morning Glory Clouds and that was over Toronto Canada in the north end of the city. It was amazing.
You can tell when somebody is running out of content. "Hey, look at the clouds!!" *runs away*
I saw the wave clouds today and I wanted to take a picture but my bus kept moving 🥺 I was so happy to see a rare cloud formation
Oh wow I want to see the all clouds
That was sick
*A VERY INTERESTING VIDEO .... THANKS FOR THAT ....!!!!*
*Amazing!*
Very clever
Anyone notice Brendon urie or was it me 😂😂
Nice
I've seen clouds a few times in New Zealand that look like a soccer ball, feels creepy looking up at it, seems like we're in a dome.
amazing channel good work 👍👍
They're all wonderfully beautiful
I love clouds, I take pictures of them all the time.
I come from the Midwest I see most of those clouds and I love every minute of it even if I'm caught in the middle of a meanest nastiest storm of the year
Once again I am amazed.
I was so lucky that I could see some mammatus clouds! I was amazed but nobody was that wholehearted as me... However I took a photo of these beauties maybe someday people will appreciate them. 😊
Those clouds are very pretty.
BEFORE THE THUNDER *THUNDER!*
The thumbnail looks like an awesome DeviantArt picture.
Where I live, in south Florida, cumulonimbus clouds and shelf clouds are very common here in the summer, when our daily thunder storms roll in
I like the Van Gogh artwork.
Take care and God bless.
Whoa awsome
Amazing to various clouds
I have to look up at the sky more often every day.
I love your videos and they are strange
I always love the way that he prounounces "'Merican" words.
Saw a beautiful cumulonimbus formation after work outside of a gym, it was nearing sunset so the top of the cloud was this fiery orange color and blended into a beautiful red/violet bottom, felt weird that I was leaving the parking lot only to park again just to breathe in what I was seeing, but this chick parked 2 lanes over and just gazed at it too XD
Glad I wasn't the only one taking the time to actually notice how beautiful the sky really was that day 😄👍
oddly satisfying to learn these clouds
Lovely, all of them 😘
With number 9. It was on a November morning sunrise, but these clouds weren't white. They went from a yellow to a dark purple. It was incredible and beyond beautiful.
undulatus clouds? or is that asperatis?
ok just checked asperitas is the new name for undulatus.lol
Enjoyed seeing the different clouds and hearing the narrative on each.. Question about #5. In the narrative, 85° Celsius was mentioned. We were wondering if the value should have been 8.5° instead of 85°. Shortly after that, the narrative mentioned these clouds in the polar regions.
Please clarify. Thank you.

I swear I've seen the polar stratospheric clouds. It was beautiful and kinda scary especially cuz I had never seen anything like it before!
Wow
Saw Asperitus clouds in Hemet, can few years ago. Never thought I'd count myself lucky to be at a Hemet Walmart...
The thumbnail ain't strange, it's fantastical.
I learned alot about clouds in one day wow
Seen them all except the Kelvin-Helmholtz formations. I wish I had I photograph clouds a lot!
9:05 "as sinking air warms up and rising air cools down" shows arrows that represent rising air heating up and sinking air cooling down. I think this is an error?
Fall streaks clouds. I want you.
