If there's ever a way that Felix can see these comments, he should know that there's PLENTY of fans who still listen to ANGEL on a regular basis, and enjoy and respect his talent.
Seen Angel 1975 76 77 Toledo OHIO River Dome 10,000 sceaming fans on there feet Great stage show smoke bombs magical appear8ence on stage talking hologram wit basses Mic Jones then Felx Robinson. Still Listin to there music
They were my first concert in 1975, with Mickey on bass. Then I saw them again at Superjam 78 @ Busch Stadium with Felix, for that period in time they were one the best live bands you would ever see. Their production was way ahead of it's time
I remember you, and you and the band were wonderful! I listened to you all thru High School. Bought the vinyls the day they came out. It was a very challenging time for me health wise, but your music was part of what helped me make it thru. Thanks, and God bless!!!
great to see this! Felix was one of the reasons I started playing bass as a kid. White Hot is still one of my favorite albums of all time. Great to see you Felix.
As a bass player, I enjoyed playing along to their albums in the late 70s. Felix got a great sound out of his (Music Man?) bass that was the same sound I liked. Cool to see this.
saw them twice in 77 and again in 79 in south bend Indiana! killer show great band, still have all their vinyl, cassettes and one cd of in the beginning!
I agree, I saw Angel with Styx in Chicago, one of the best shows and memories of my teenage years... I still listen to Angel, and always LOVED the On Earth As It Is In Heaven album, cuz you could flip it upside down and it looked the same... Keep the Rock Alive, brother! :)
I loved Angel. I remember seeing them in Concert in 1978 and it was the most amazing show I have ever been to in terms of production. Later Gregg's new band would play Sneakers in San Antonio and you could walk right up to the stage which was an awesome experience.
Thanks for this interview! Angel was a pivotal influence for all the glam-rock bands that appeared on the 80's. We all need more bands like Angel today.
I saw Angel with my sister in 77 or 78. Great show. The magical appearance on stage was mindblowing. We managed to meet the band after and my sister took off with Punky and left me. Felix was kind enough to let me sleep in his hotel room. No sex but some lovely cuddling. He was gorgeous then. He's looking damned good now. Hope life is going well for you Felix. I remember my sister teasing him before she took off by quoting the bible, " Felix trembled" Not sure if he was amused.
Live Without A Net came out around the time I was dabbling in bass, about 13 years old. So imagine listening to Felix's solo, realizing there's an electric bass sitting in the same room with you? Shhhhhhheeeeeyiiiiiiit... THANK YOU, FELIX!!!!!
Saw Felix with Angel in Toledo in - I want to say 1978. Pretty sure it was the White Hot tour. Angel headlined, Starz was the second act, and The Godz opened the show. Godz, Starz, and Angel - interesting bill. Anyway, Angel kicked ass. They were awesome. (I also saw Angel open for RUSH on the All the World's a Stage Tour in 1976.)
Too bad Mickie Jones couldn't keep himself together, heavy drinker who passed in 2009, rock in peace. With that being said, Felix was a great addition to Angel. It's sad they didn't have the success in the States but KISS was Casablanca's baby.
This guy and all dudes in ''Angel'' got so many girls back then..When girls saw Angel, they loved them instantly..It was a trip..Oh Quiet riot got lot of girls too.. Its all about the girls you know? ha!
Great info...I first saw Angel at the Tower Theater here in Pa Whit Hot was the album and was instantly a HUGE fan of the music. Barry's Drumming influenced my playing to this day...and other drummers sill mention it to this day. Angel almost came a little to early for that time...had MTV been around no doubt they would have been even bigger than they were. PS even though Frank and Barry carry on the name that ain't no Angel but a bar band. BTW your bass work on 'Got Love If You Want It' is kilr
GREAT interview, don't be so self-depricating, alot of musicians I talk to mention Angel as a big influence and a hugely under-rated band, I know that's how I feel! Greg M.-Nashville
Why did Felix replace Mickey in the first place? It could only be because he was better looking and fitted in with the new "pop orientated" direction the group was taking from 1977 onwards.
I learned about angel because a guy I jammed with claimed to be their bass player. Clearly he isn't Felix lol! At least I learned about a really awesome band from back in the day.
So Mickie was ousted because he was doing a side project and not 100% into ANGEL . That makes more sense then the previous nonsense that was being spread about Mickie .

Totally agree with you I listen to them all the time!!!
Felix Robinson + Barry Brandt = one of the best rythm sections in rock and roll.
Over and out.
What a great bassist he was and humble guy he is. I'm grateful to see you well Mr. Robinson! You are a fantastic bassist :)
Angel was the best !
Great interview.Thanks.
Nice to see you doing well. Saw you 5 times. All in PA. What a great band. God Bless You.
Love ya Felix!!!!!!
Felix looked like a rocker back in the 70's. Now he looks distinguished, like a teacher. Good to see this, and good to hear his story.

The bass lick on "Got love if you want it"...amazing!
I know how Angel is and who you are . You guys were the best band ever in the 70's.
Great clip, this fills in a lot of what I didn't know about Felix's background pre-Angel. Really down to earth guy it would seem. thanks for posting!
THANX.so cool to hear from this guy.great singer to.
Angel was one of those bands, like The Rockets & The James Gang, that most mid-west rock fans will remember for sure!
