you left out the best interaction!!! elemental shamans have mastery and mastery will also proc it, meaning i could fire off a lava burst, which procs the staff and mastery off it's cast, then have the mastery spell proc another staff cast. AND the dot thing can proc extra lava bursts, since flame shock ticks are what proc them it's so deliciously satisfying to have as an elemental shaman. i had it back in the day and it was amazing.
@@Lizzieeeeeeeethat sword carried me to 2.2k in 2s on unholy aha when my friend realised the tentacle procs scale with mastery it’s ridiculous and 2/3 at once can turn a losing fight
Haha legend cheers, genuinely i don't think most people actually know its a thing lol because no one ever even mentions it. Its always like, subscribe and join as a member but i never hear anyone ever mention super thanks
Now THESE items were LEGENDARY and deserving of being Orange, double spells for the staff, and 6 seconds of spamming Eviscerate for massive, stupid but fun damage - incredible. This is one of the highs of Cataclysm.
Seems like the legendary daggers benefit sub the most. Since it's a spec with all the different finishers that you have to juggle, getting that proc instantly lets you "get caught up" really well. Sub will still have dogsh*t cleave/aoe though. I expect all the sweatlord rogues to be running assassination mainspec for most fights and sub offspec for any heavy single target fights (throughout the expansion). The benefit of going sub for single target fights before you have the legendary daggers may be negligible, whereas post-daggers I think it will be a big enough gap that everyone will want to do it.
I only remember with my S.p that this staff was more of a debuff XD Everytime the proc was on the Instant Mind Spike and boom the Mind Spike copy would remove the dot on the target
The proc chance on the caster lego is also different depending on whether you're a pet spec or not. Pet spec had higher proc chances for spell duplication due to generally having less sources of damage instances from the caster.
I'd like to see them speed up the process of getting these items by either reducing how much u need or increase drops from bosses. I say this because we'll have less time in cata then we did originally.
I just want Prepatch nooow and Cata a bit later, we have been in ICC for way to long now. Even so long that i started playing SoD instead until Prepatch is is out 2035 or so it seems like.
Not at all. I'm an Ele Shaman who got the staff first in my guild. Out of all the classes Ele Shamans see the biggest dps increase with the staff due to Elemental Overload (4 spells from 1 cast)
I have the staff, and yes it should work with atonement as it duplicates the smite/holy fire with the same spell id which means it should proc talents like atonement
wait for atleast deep into cata classic beta so we can see how their version of cata works, any kind of new bug could be found out which changes numbers a lot or if they do some custom change. so far seems fire mage is by far #1 because of the combustion mechanic.
If it works like it used to back in the the day it is most likely going to be insane prio to Fire Mages due to duplication of combustion. At least back in the days, Fire Mage was the only caster that used this staff over dragon soul heroic weapons, meaning being true expansion BiS. It was big rng tho. While on private servers Elemental Shaman is known to be very strong with this weapon, pserver have some very wanky things that were never confirmed back then. This could be either due to bad Elemental theorycrafting back then or private server bugs/different interaction. Nobody knows as no sane guild gave the staff to an Elemental back in 2011. That being said, only time will tell. Classic iteration have never been 1:1 due to bugs and modern theorycrafting. However, I would imagine Fire Mage still having one of the highest prio. Small note: Its almost certain that they will buff the drop chances of cinders for the quest, same as Shadowmourne. So most, if not all, will have the staff. Don't think it will matter as much as it did back then.
not much at all, you level or buy boost to 70 and then level. then you can grind some gear in the alpha/beta/gamma, there's alot of pugs going depending on your server obv, and you can easily join some runs.
So I intend on maing a discipline priest for Cata. Would the legendary staff be good for my class as well or no? Healing by dpsing and having a weapon that can proc addition attacks just means more healing too right? Enlighten me please
@@CapOfXavand for good reason. Higher overall dps will always be more effective in progression and clears. Just how wow is and almost every other game lol
I'm an ele shaman main.. back in the day the staff not only proc overload, but back and forth proced.. I looked like a ghost buster just a solid stream of blue with bumps of red. It's amazing. =^-^=
i first mained an ele shaman in cata and the guild decided since i was the raid leader for so long w/o getting anything special they voted to get me this staff first in our group. i can tell you it's F'n nuts for an elemental shaman. the flame shock extra ticks can proc new insta cast lava bursts from talents. the lava burst can then proc both mastery and the staff, then the mastery proc can also proc the staff. it's such a satisfying thing to see when playing an elemental shaman.
Sort of a moot point because combat won't be the big spec in cata. Most sweaty rogues will run assass for most fights with sub offspec for single target fights. Combat is not a bad spec by any means, but there's not too many fights where you'll want to run it over assass/sub. If you have a fight where there are exactly 2 targets the entire time where you could constantly hit both, then combat would be king, but there's not many fights like that.
Well i can tell you from first hand experience levelling my paladin on the beta, as soon as RXP sent me the beta version to test my levels were a hell of a lot quicker. That's not to say you NEED a levelling guide because as you say its far more linear but there will always be an "optimal" way to level for speed.
I clicked the video. Then realized it said legendary. Then remembered that the fabulous community doesn’t community fuck all. I’ll catch up on the next one.

Your highest production value video yet!
You forgot to mention that the Staff works with Elemental Shamans mastery overload so you can duplicate spells up to 4 times instead of 2 ;)
Yea it wasn't a full break down of every spell interaction just an overview of how they work
@@Scottejaye PFFTTT what a liar!
could've easily included it, he just doesn't play wow

Like 3-4 classes with that staff just get juiced on it and that is when elemental started being hella huge on dps.
I had that too as ELE, so OP!!!
Gurth'alak, Voice of the Deeps is a purple legendary 😂
Absolutely, certainly top of my list for honorary legendaries :D

Excellent job on this video! The effort is visible and it paid off.
Crazy, Sulfuras and Thunderfury still hands down the most legendary of them all but due to being so revered for so long. Icons.

@Scottejaye Will you do a video of your prefered 10 man raid comp for Cata?
@scottejaye what do you think the class prio will be for the staff ? Is ele shaman wielding the staff just a dream cause it's a staff?
Not at all. I'm an Ele Shaman who got the staff first in my guild. Out of all the classes Ele Shamans see the biggest dps increase with the staff due to Elemental Overload (4 spells from 1 cast)
Does the staffs proc work with Atonement priests damage to heal? It was not mentioned so I assume it either isn't a thing or was forgotten about.
Since it takes talent modifiers into consideration when making the duplication effect, I'd assume Atonement is calculated into the spell, ye
Yes it procced atonement healing, but since the damage is arcane it doesn't get buffed by priest talents.
I have the staff, and yes it should work with atonement as it duplicates the smite/holy fire with the same spell id which means it should proc talents like atonement
I’m so ready for Cata. Most of the sweatys will play it and maybe sod can be normal.
Lmaooooo it’s the inverse you just are so hopped on your own copium you can’t see it. Classic andies are the sweatiest nerds of all time
I do hope they change the drops for personal and that 120/25 drop the same amount of reagents ;D
Finally Cata content coming around!!!!!!
Now let’s talk about PVP cata plz ;)
Would you say a rogue could obtain the legendary daggers without being in a main guild? just puging
Who are you prioritising for the staff? Class Order?
*shutters* god the kultiras music gave me ptsd and made me sick. bad times those days
Are the daggers op in PvP?
yes please , jaffa here . guide to the rogue daggers :)
Where everyone plays a caster until Dragon Soul then rerolls to rogue.
to those who think they're getting a legendary:
you're not getting a legendary.
everyone will get em now
Any good reasoning I can use to let my Resto druid get Taragosa 😇
OS boomie maybe 🤔
@scottejaye Any indication on which caster will be prio'd for staff based solely on raw numbers?
Fire mage/Ele shaman>Everything else is pretty equal
wait for atleast deep into cata classic beta so we can see how their version of cata works, any kind of new bug could be found out which changes numbers a lot or if they do some custom change. so far seems fire mage is by far #1 because of the combustion mechanic.

I quit playing Wotlk shortly after it launched, how much of a grind is it to level a new character to 80 to be prepared for cata launch?
not much at all, you level or buy boost to 70 and then level. then you can grind some gear in the alpha/beta/gamma, there's alot of pugs going depending on your server obv, and you can easily join some runs.
All gear will be replaced in theory best bet is getting 80 and farm gold
Right now none at all. With RDF and 50% XP boost. Did 63-66 with zero effort on my Resto shaman yesterday just doing dungeons
Honestly it'll be really easy. If you don't buy a 70 boost or if you do, just quest while continuously in RDF and you'll be 80 in no time
definitely some grind if you don't like leveling, but not too much
So I intend on maing a discipline priest for Cata. Would the legendary staff be good for my class as well or no? Healing by dpsing and having a weapon that can proc addition attacks just means more healing too right? Enlighten me please
It does (atleast on private servers) however.. good luck convincing a guild to let you have it over a DPS :)
@@CapOfXavand for good reason. Higher overall dps will always be more effective in progression and clears. Just how wow is and almost every other game lol
How does overload work with tarecgosa? Can you potentially fire off 4 spells?
seems like if the stars align, 1 lava burst can result in 5. But i'm not exactly sure if this has been changed
Yeah with overload i would think that this would be better for ele than other casters

Why would you need a leveling guide for cata? It’s completely linear
Well i can tell you from first hand experience levelling my paladin on the beta, as soon as RXP sent me the beta version to test my levels were a hell of a lot quicker. That's not to say you NEED a levelling guide because as you say its far more linear but there will always be an "optimal" way to level for speed.
I use zygor but im thinking of trying rxp 😊
It's better than leveling in classic.
I agree, I have all the rxp guides for vanilla-wrath but it seems a lot less beneficial for cata zones.
Ppl that like to rush to end game current content
Hot take but rog daggers aren't as op as the staff. Warriors ret paladins and unholy dk pump like mofos with the 2h sword from madness of deathwing
