How do we use filters while using this pagination method?

There is one issue with this method. Kindly help with a resolution. Suppose i am at page number 3 when my current filter selection was having more than 3 pages as output. However while remaining on page 3 if i change filter selection and there is 1 page as output then i am stuck at page 3 only. I cant go back to page number 1. Kindly suggest. Thanks
