The interview guy usually has the most insane diet in the world, too. Like "I'm a really frugal guy. I feel like this is a universal way to depict inflation by news media
And the sad thing is that some people believe things like this and blame the government for everything, just because things are not like they used to be, which is a good thing.
@@mramstedt
No it’s not a good thing that things are now much worse than before
Not at all good
And the govts EXACTLY what’s to blame
@@YeshuaKingMessiah people will choose the government, so it’s people to blame, like your neighbors
@@YeshuaKingMessiah What is worse than before, please specify. Minimum wage has not increased since 2005, so not much change there. Affordable US health care is still lagging as the republicans can't agree to anything to move forward. Salaries are up 8.22% compared to the same from one year ago. Inflation is currently at 7.75%, so salaries are still slightly ahead. Unemployment is almost all time low at 3.7%.
From someone who used to work in local television news back in the 90s, some things never change. This is so true. Lazy journalism.
OMG. There was a BIG WINTER STORM. One of many last winter. But it was over and the snow all cleared off the roads and drives and sunny by early morning the next day and I was outside around 10am, blowing my neighbor's drive - and long after the 5am peak neighborhood snowblower time when all the snow had been something to see but not anymore - and I'm the only one out there now and a local TV NEWS van barrels down the street, hits the brakes and pulls up.
A young skinny woman with perfect hair and very heavy makeup jumps out with a microphone and clipboard (to get my name), camera guy driver to follow and asks if I want to comment on the storm and snow from the day before. (Ie get on the evening news).
I was just simply "no". The look on her face was an expression of pure contempt. She jumped back in and they drove off faster than I could blink. Obviously on a deadline to get that kind of content. The annoying thing is that heavy snow in our region isn't even news.
It's not lazy, it's local news. They have a handful of employees and like 20 stories to shoot, edit, compile, and present every night. That's a crapload of work, if you've ever had to do video production.
Typical ENG work. Short story, limited time. Typical.
It’s not lazy, it’s pretty wholesome, and they actually talk to real local people, unlike the mainstream news. I love local news.
It's what the people want , they wouldn't copy paste a formula that wasn't working for them.
I used to work in local news. Don't forget about the "snow is coming" story or the "the snow is here" story. Shots of cars driving in snow, shots of salt trucks, obligatory interview with guy/gal about how they are going to go stock up on bread, milk, and eggs at the store. Maybe throw in some shots of kids sledding. Call it a day and do it all over again a few times per winter.
Still comfy to watch during a snowstorm tho 😌☕️🌨
@@wtDrakeI only see this when I got a feeling schools closed. It’s so nostalgic😂
Growing up in Florida, "It is about to rain today" or "There is a thunderstorm somewhere around here so we might get a tornado going in some direction we don't know yet." Favorite shows are interrupted by a weather map and weather reporter more often than any Presidential speech, even if it turns out that nothing happens in the local area, weather-wise.
Exactly. We always get slammed with predictions of massive, world ending snowstorms, yet they never happen. And when we do get snow, its never that bad, its how people react to it that makes it so problematic
@@steverobertson1729 you speak wisdom

The shopping cart POV video included the sound of the obnoxiously out of whack wheel balance / alignment which made this that much more believable! Haha

"making ends meet" and "lawmakers" accurately describes this recession
"Captain, sensors have detected an allegorical innuendo!"
"They show the federal reserve and money being printed for some reason". Yeah maybe because the federal reserve printing money is what drives the inflation bruh
@@SirSketchable That's not entirely accurate. The Federal Reserve has to print money here and there, and doing so can sometimes lower inflation.
The car alarm going off during the interview is totally on point
I have worked in local news for the past eleven years. This is spot on. Would also like to point out that the national packages that we run locally are exactly the same - except they usually include regional stores that our local audiences can’t relate to (IE I am in California, where we don’t have Kroger’s)
Same (two years in local television & six years in local radio). Or my favorite when they're running a national package based out of city "X" on the subject of public transportation and reference the "local" acronym used for that department (Ex. BART instead of "Bay Area Rapid Transit" - out of San Francisco) or referencing an elected position but it's called something completely different than in most cities. Chicago being a great example ("Ward" instead of "District" and "Alderman" instead of "City Councilman"). And the Kroger thing is the same in my hometown of Chattanooga (Kroger actually left our market in the late 1980s). You have to go three hours to Nashville to shop at one.
@@jonathancook7616 Exactly. I JUST got home from our morning show broadcast not five minutes ago, and we ran one of these packages - but instead of grocery shopping B-roll, it was Black Friday/Christmas shopping VO.
In CA, Kroger’s is Ralph’s (west coast). Just the same as how Carl’s Jr. is Hardee’s (east coast)
It's just "Kroger". We don't need to type any extra 's.

They never show the scariest graph, cumulative inflation from 1776 to present. The 1776 dollar is equivalent to $1.03 in 1906, $2.24 in 1946, $12.60 in 1986, and $34.25 by this year using official inflation numbers. The graph is pretty much flat until WW1 then slopes up gently until the start of the 70s where it turns like hockey stick.

It's not exactly WW1, but near that date. 1913 is when that shift started happening (and usually inflation charts only go back to 1913 because of this) because the Federal Reserve was instituted then which had the power to control the money supply and print money at whim ever since, which is why there was such a drastic change then.

@@lennellwaltonboxer you should be glad you’re not white because you don’t have to see your country destroyed in front of your eyes. Inflation does not have to run on for10 more years. The reduced level of Domestic Oil production, and lack of Gasoline refineries in this country is at the root of the problem. We haven't built refineries in this country for 20 years. That is restricting the supply on gasoline artificially keeping prices high. High oil prices goes into everything; Plastics in cars, furniture, Diesel fuel, jet fuel, farmers fuel, fertilizer, rent, home heating, electric power companies the rely on natural gas. This is a manufactured crisis, and the American people need to protest at the ballot box in November elections, and 2024 elections. Unless are really dumb, you should not be voting for Democrats. To save your standard of living, and future, vote Republican in every office, and school board across the United States. My family voted Democratic for over 50 years, but this Democratic Party is not the same party. It has a lot of control the world globalist. If they don't cheat in the election, we can turn this all around.

Here is the truth about inflation. If a report comes out and inflation is 'dropping', that doesn't mean things have gotten cheaper. They are still getting more expensive, just by less than before. A story about inflation "showing money being printed, for some reason."
The very definition of "inflation" is an inflated money supply, which, of course, makes the money worth less. In turn making everything cost more.
Everything else is about "the cost of living".
thank you, honestly I was looking for someone to point that out
Inflation just means a rise in the average price level. Whether that's due to the money supply or not doesn't have any direct bearing on the definition of the term.
reductionist monetarist brain rot
That would be true if we were actually experiencing inflation and not companies price gouging to account for profits lost during the COVID pandemic
This inflation isn't primarily caused by money printing nor price gouging though they are factors. As another poster said, inflation doesn't always equals money printing, just means prices are increasing. We had a pandemic that killed millions, people lost their jobs, trade was constrained, and now we have the Russia-Ukraine war. Supply chains were massively disrupted and if industry A isn't producing a good or service like it used, it effects industry B which is reliant on industry A, and industry C is reliant on B, and so on and so forth in a complex web.
Great video….precisely why I stopped watching all news local and national. Same things happens the first week in summer when it gets to 90…..they just re-rack the old footage of water hydrants on, swimming pools, thermometers, hot black pavement, and a dry farm field. Same thing happens with a “high gas prices” story. Or “winter weather”. In fact, it seems that since all the stories have already been done, news will be automated/autonomous from here on out.
