This is my favorite Lego video game... no questions asked. I just think that the replay ability is VERY high. I still haven't fully finished that game yet! If a sequel came out for the Switch, sign me up!
I think this is a really good game. One thing I think would make it better would be the ability to change the surroundings from day to night - imagine Lego City at night, all lit up - I think it would look great.
I'm glad this game is going to get the recognition it deserves with the remaster. I'm picking it up again on the switch and pretty syked for the co-op and just playing it again. Still one of my favorite games on the Wii U and ever
I got the game when it came out, 100% completed it, and I'm still replaying it today. Game was far better than he said it was and its my favorite Lego Game to date
There's also the possibility of a potential sequel where they could introduce a partner for Chase (which could also add to the story) and allow for offline/online co-op.
how about xenoblade, last story and pandora's tower? granted they have been out for a while in japan, but they are realtively new on this side of the pond.
But that's like a tradition in Lego games. I had a Wii and I had every stinking Lego game for the Wii (except Harry Potter and LotR) and co-op made it better.
World of Warcraft? I could keep citing examples but I am sure you still would not get the point....BTW the single biggest market is mobile single player games....
Actually, it is the seventh LEGO title that does not have a tie-in to an official license, as LEGO Racers 1 and 2, LEGO Island 1 and 2, LEGO Creator (which is a different thing from the current LEGO Creator LEGO toy line, though it is the same in its philosophy), and LEGO Rock Raiders all came before LEGO City Undercover.
Coming Soon: "Join the Chase! LEGO CITY Undercover is looking for new recruits on PlayStation®4, Xbox One®, Nintendo Switch™ and STEAM® in Spring 2017."
10/10 People don’t realize how great this game was. Yes “LEGO Batman, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and marvel super heros we’re classics. But I’m not joking this game was and is now thee best Lego and top 10 best game. This isn’t just nostalgia cuz I replayed it 3 times (Wii U) when I was little and 2 more times with my little brother on switch.
"You keep living in the late 80's and early 90's." ....But you own a CRT and play sega genesis. Your 27 and you troll nintendo videos all day. You need help.
60fps was never a selling point of the WiiU, but they did promote HD rendering. Many, many devs would opt to run at 30fps if they could push more effects, just like how most ps360 games render at 720p or less for the same benefit.
This was a really special game. Most Lego games put me to sleep and usually feel like a stale chore to play. This game was a delight from beginning to ESPECIALLY that insane finale. It was charming, hilarious, incredibly likeable, and just a joy to play and explore. It's not trying to be cinema or pack in as much brown as possible, it's what games used to be: pure, blissful fun. One of the best games I've played in a long time.
About time Tt broke this habbit of sticking the name Lego onto every successful movie/comic book imaginable. It's been a long, LONG time since we had a Lego game that relied on it's own original characters and an open world since the Lego Island games.
I love the fact that you understand this! I adore my WiiU, it's my pride and joy, and I don't mind a couple of mindless shooters (Goldeneye on Wii is one of my favorite games for example) but I also love all the other stuff such as this, Metroid, along with the many other rewarding experiences that Nintendo is so well known for.
Knack, Killzone 4, Drive Club, Infamous 3? Funny how they've already shown more in house for their system that hasn't even launched yet then Nintendo has for the Wii U which has been out for FOUR MONTHS!
If it can't handle showing a single player experience without a drop in framerate and massive load times, I don't think a split-screen mode is particularly possible. It does look like a lot of fun though.
I love this game but I have a huge problem that maybe someone can give some advice, I am having some major audio problems during cutscenes. Almost half the time the voice overs are gone and all you can hear is footsteps or other sound effects. The loading to me isn't as big of a problem as the review states but everything else is pretty much on point for me at least.
Hmm its a spiritual successor thats why it ties into ico at the end with the boy who has horns and then the shadow creatures which appear as well, look exactly like the ones in ico.
how so did it hurt the 360 when it came out a year before the other two systems? in fact i am predicting with their high price tags and easily breakable hardware the ps4 and xbox reveal wont sell well at all and in fact help sales for the wii u.
I always wondered why they just dont simply fix the loading before releasing games or in this case at least make a patch through DLC or something. The least least least they can do is put something on the gamepad screen that could entertain us whilst the loading is in progress like some stunts or funny stuff we did during our gameplay.....
Nintendo Land, Zombi U, AC3, Trine 2, Little Inferno, Mass Effect 3, NBA 2k12/13(Not sure lol), Tank tank tank, CoD Black ops 2, New Super Mario Bros U, Sonic and Sega All star Racing, Batman Arkam asilum Armoured Edition, Just Dance 4... Search for a little more of info next time man. Here you have some to start! Sry if i forget( I probably do) some games, but these are the ones that i can remember. See ya!
There could be a patch on the way to better address the load times. I think that was the biggest gripe in this review. Still... 8.0 is a great score and I am glad.
However, if you have a Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, or Xbox Series X port of LEGO City Undercover, they also have cooperative game play, as well as significantly shorter loading times, than the original Wii U version of the game.
They say they have a lot of 3rd part support but thats what every hardware company says until later down the line you realize where are all the games? Nintendo and Microsoft does this a lot often.
This game is criminally underrated. Pun intended.
It’s much better on the PS4
The ps4 version has almost no load screens, looks better and runs better, great game
Thanks I'm about to buy it
Thanks lol bought it on Playststion store for $7.50
Thanks for the info, about to buy the game.
In my opinion it's the best Lego game
lego gta
for wii u
judassson thats what this basically is
judassson thats also what i always tought.
+ITS A DIO imagine if lego city undercover was as big as gta 5?
Family friendly gta basically
And Xbox, PC, ps
TFW a Lego game has better driving AI than Cyberpunk
Did you watch that video to
@@kuwabarakazuma6313 Came here from Crowbcat
Bro what!? I was just watching the cyberpunk video and came here 🙄😮
An 8 year old LEGO game at that...
No.
This is my favorite Lego video game... no questions asked. I just think that the replay ability is VERY high. I still haven't fully finished that game yet! If a sequel came out for the Switch, sign me up!
It needs a sequel
I think this is a really good game. One thing I think would make it better would be the ability to change the surroundings from day to night - imagine Lego City at night, all lit up - I think it would look great.
This is one of my favorite games and its Lego! There needs to be a sequel
Topham your thoughts now
I'm glad this game is going to get the recognition it deserves with the remaster. I'm picking it up again on the switch and pretty syked for the co-op and just playing it again. Still one of my favorite games on the Wii U and ever
Topham same here I'm getting it for the ps4 though
Technically it does on the 3ds but it's a prequel
Topham. Are there guns?
Glad this is getting a remaster to consoles. Could maybe add multiplayer now and fix the locking screens.
the wii u version is so cool tho, his police screen thing is the wii u gamepad irl
"A really good game just shy of greatness." Score: 8.0 GREAT
...really?
It deserves an 11
hehe nice, GADEEEEEEEEEe that like number.
Looking at a 4 year old video for a switch game, lol
Theoddguy lol same, but for my ps4 ;)
Theoddguy same but for my xbox
Theoddguy same! But on my wii u
That’s the closest we get to current gen. (It’s currently on sale for Switch)
@@lexc1560 i bought it on g2a for 6€ (pc)
The loading times are not that bad. It gives you time to think about your next plan and gives you time to get a drink or something.
that's the only thing good about them
Or go pee
This game reminds me of GTA 5
because of the loading times of course
This game is the reason I can bare long load times in games
Unless you got the Series X
Better than cyberpunk

Am i the only one who came after watching the switch port trailer?
Sniper GG nope
Almighty Nintendo Pharoh do you have it on your switch
Not yet but it's definitely in my must buy list.
It's a remaster, not port.
I love this game. This game is so underated. Really big map and so many things to unlock.
I have the ps4 version. Im 32 years old and tbh i love this game. Its just a sit back and relax type of game
We just be playing lego GTA
You know the hindsight knowledge of Lego Jurassic World makes the T Rex foreshadowing.! LOL!. :)
This was my favorite game of all time
Did anyone get this game and think it's better then how he said it was?
Yep
It's far better.
Jordan Starr It's truly one of the best hidden gems out there.
I got the game when it came out, 100% completed it, and I'm still replaying it today. Game was far better than he said it was and its my favorite Lego Game to date
Totally agree. The games fantastic fun, and it sorta just fell under the radar.
For the switch its even better. Way better actually.
Yes because they kept the exclusive Nintendo content in the game while it was removed for the other versions.
I love this game. One of the best Wii U titles in my opinion.
So true, testify!
Only started to play it recently and it's fantastic fun! Love the collectathon elements and the open world exploration.
The main offender for loading screens in this game I find is when you go from the Police Station to LEGO City takes forever....
Here, here! I agree with that 100%. That finale was absolutely INSANE and amazing at the same time.
There's also the possibility of a potential sequel where they could introduce a partner for Chase (which could also add to the story) and allow for offline/online co-op.
10/10 Best game of the generation
"Who fucking cares about game mechanics"
you might want to read over that sentence one more time.
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS FOLLOW THE DANG TRAIN, CHASE MCCAIN!
Only announced in North America at the moment, but yes. It's called The Chase Begins and it's a prequel.
What I love about this game is you can play as a whole bunch of the different mini figure series characters.
Try to put your audio setting to Stereo instead of Surround. We've been having trouble with a couple of titles including Skylanders.
Still better than Cyberpunk
Dumb comment
is the load screen update from nintendo in september going to fix the in games load screens that take too long
Well the new Switch version has Co-op so... 8.5 ?
Yeah but it removed the gamepad functionality so love both equally
@@sudd32x14 but its the same game but better
how about xenoblade, last story and pandora's tower? granted they have been out for a while in japan, but they are realtively new on this side of the pond.
not all games need co-op. You guys really need to lay off of the co-op / multiplayer crack pipe
But that's like a tradition in Lego games. I had a Wii and I had every stinking Lego game for the Wii (except Harry Potter and LotR) and co-op made it better.
years of use? Battlefield has to come out with a new game every year or so just to remain relevant...
World of Warcraft? I could keep citing examples but I am sure you still would not get the point....BTW the single

AnhYeuEmMaiMai69 Note that almost all the newer LEGO games have local co-op
Well,now it has co op¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Purchased last week. Very large world, and lot's of fun. The best "GTA" I've played since GTA 3.
i dont hate the load screens
ikr it gives you a chance to get a drink
+Brandon Thompson or relax a bit ;)
All of the problems you mentioned got fixed in the ps4/XBox versions
The game is only $8.99 on Eshop hurry up and purchase immediately!!!!!
JohnnyGamer Haddadin i did! :D
Yes switch version is the best since it has extra content that was removed from the other versions that aren't Nintendo consoles
I remember playing this game in both 3ds and Wii u
I really like this game, the best thing about it is that it reminds me of the Naked Gun Movies!
Oh Leslie Nielsen, how we all miss you!
I wonder how long this is out before it comes to other systems? Most games that are exclusive from a 3rd party come on other systems at a later date.
Still gold in 2023
This feels like the most fair review from IGN in a long while
Actually, it is the seventh LEGO title that does not have a tie-in to an official license, as LEGO Racers 1 and 2, LEGO Island 1 and 2, LEGO Creator (which is a different thing from the current LEGO Creator LEGO toy line, though it is the same in its philosophy), and LEGO Rock Raiders all came before LEGO City Undercover.
In a nutshell: It's GTA for kids. Everything is AWESOME !!!!
I’m so glad the coop and loading times were fixed in the Xbox port fantastic game absolutely one of my favourites
anyone watching this after the ps4 and xbox one trailer
I'm just hoping they can do something about the load times
Lego gta hits hard
Perhaps we'll see an open-world Lego game in the future that uses Star Wars or DC licenses.
Lol
Hello prophet
Lego City Undercover looks like GTA V.
I think this game deserves a at least a 8.5 because it was fun entertaining and I actually did not find that many long lasting load screens.
Basically GTA Lego version XD
True!
One question regarding the load times... Did the reviewer have a physical or digital copy?
this would be epic on PC
i play lego marvel avengers on my friends pc, it was great. too bad this will stay on wii u.

you could say that about any early console game release though not really a specific problem with the wiiu
I love this game!
Is loading time reduced when you download it?
Lego gta
I still love this game... If TT would make a launch title on NX as a sequel to this, I would buy NX day one.
As well as to ps4/xbone/steam

I just picked this up on steam and this version has co-op and the load times are only a few seconds.
