I think the way you analyzed each sound design is really great ... sound design is an artistic work and therefore there is a lot of subjectivity ... when you are starting out, you tend to mistrust your own ideas and it can be painful if someone examine your work in a very derogatory way ... that's why I think it was really cool that you started by saying things like "Sounds great ..." "I think you did a really good job with this ..." Greetings from Chile !
I really like this idea! For some feedback since you asked though: 1) I liked what you did with the first animation. You helped make it come alive a lot more. 2) I personally enjoyed the original roar a lot better, but your attention to detail on the blood splatter was a very nice touch and the explosion felt a lot more punchy and impactful as well. 3) The wind effect just didn't sound right to me for some reason, but that was another nice touch that I think most people usually wouldn't realize was available. Maybe I just need to hear it along with the animation :P Overall, I think you shared some great feedback. I also appreciated the small window to watch the animation along with the pre and post sfx. Another bit of feedback for you: When you get to the pre and post comparison part for each animation, it would be nice to see the animation in full screen and the audio timeline in a small window. This is all just my opinion though. Thanks for the great video!
I love this feedback! Yeah, I can totally understand why you enjoy the first roar better! I think a lot of the things I added were just some ideas to help expand the sound designers horizons to see what else could be done creatively! And good note on the animation too! I'll make that full screen for the future :) Really love this feedback! It's honest, pleasant, and constructive. Thanks :)
This is really helpful. I only just got here I hope there are more episodes after this. I love that you explain why you do what you do rather than just go "I'll add this... there better". Great work.
Sound design is so cool. Ive dabbled with it on my minecraft server when i was a kid, but never got it to work in game so i gave up lol. Still, making cave drips, crow sounds, wolves howling in the distance, really brought the world to life.
Thanks for your redesign Ryan! Sounds much beter! I really need to focus more on the mid-range frequencies! PS : Ryan's secret weapon is.... The airplane passing by XD
Im a fledgling solo dev, iv been using FL studio since 2006, do you think it is a good or bad way to approach and learn sound design? i have some experience in synthesis with intruments, but iv never tried to make sound affects. ill be diving in to your videos to see what i can glean and learn. So far great job, and explanations of the whys.

Question what’s the name of the software where you integrate sounds made in a DAW?
Thanks! So the DAW is called Reaper, but if you mean integration software, you're looking at FMOD or Wwise :)
Blipsounds thank you!
I comment because I liked this.
And I'm glad you liked it!
