    Guessing the heavier tires had an advantage in the sled pull.

    What about handling, which ones handles best ? Also did you notice if radials or bias ply continually scoring higher?

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  5 лет назад +1

      Most of the tires were bias ply. We did notice that the lighter tires did better at climbing and the heavier tires did better at stopping. When it came to pulling and stopping, the type of tread and the tread pattern made a difference. Lugs that did not "fold over"' did better for both tests. Better handling... we rode these tires in short bursts... but did not ride them for extended periods of time. Overall comfort or handling was not part of this particular test, but we will get it worked into the next test we produce. Thank you for watching and for your inquiries. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

      @@chaparralmotorsports thanks for the reply.
      I know the 14" Bear claw HTR and the mud rebel RT are radial design, those are what I'm looking at for my rzr since the slingshot does not come in larger sizes like 28" diameter.

    How long did this take to put on the tires for every test

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  3 года назад

      Hello Mark, the entire testing process took several days. After a couple of tire changes we got a system down and could swap out all four tires in just a few minutes.

    What places did the Kenda bearclaws come in for each event? I've been running them for a while and I've noticed braking isn't there strong suit but otherwise they do pretty decent

      Brad, thank you for your comment / inquiry. The Bear Claw's (original ones) are our best selling ATV / UTV tire, hands down. I'd say Big Horn is next... Here is a quick video showing the Bear Claw in each test mentioning where it placed: ruclips.net/video/XawCauBJoOw/видео.html Sled Pull = 4th ** Hill Climb = 6th ** Downhill Breaking = 11th ** Top Speed Breaking = 21st ** Mud Pit = 21st *** The Bear Claw HTR did really good and took 3rd place overall. It can be seen here: ruclips.net/video/joY6JquiMd4/видео.html Thanks for watching. Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

    Always remember once the hole was gone threw or dirt driven on and loosened up . it will never be the same for an "accurate" comparison for the next tire going threw. not my opinion its a fact . entertaining tests none the less

      Hi Caperfisher, thanks for watching our video, we see your point. You are correct, it's extremely difficult or impossible for us to replicate the exact test, path, and conditions for each and every tire. But these test give you a general idea as to how the tires perform in the terrain types. Thanks for watching and commenting. Chaparral Motorsports Team.

    This test was amazing and thank you so much for doing it. I am seriously considering getting a set of slingshot xt’s for my 2018 kodiak 700. There is barely any reviews or long term info on the web for them. I trail ride but hit every mud hole I find. How do you think they will hold up to occasional rocks and ice that we have here in Michigan?

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  6 лет назад

      Hello getbigordie423, thank you for watching. The SlingShot XT's are really neat tires. Did you watch the video where our Brand Rep talks about why the tire did so well? Very interesting. Take a look: ruclips.net/video/zAozEaS0mok/видео.html They should do amazing in snow and the grip rocks really well. I think you will be impressed at how much of a well rounded of a tire the Slingshot XT.

    The ITP Blackwater has too aggressive of a tread pattern for that hard packed sled pull. Do a sled pull on a softer track and I bet it would come out close to the top, the quad was bouncing the front end off the ground as soon as they took cuz those tall aggressive lugs were trying to get traction. Notice how well it did in the mud.

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  6 лет назад +1

      Yes Sir! The Mud Lite XTR would have scored much higher than 7th if it would have scored a couple places higher in the Top Speed Braking and the Mud Test. Just 4 points less and it would have taken 5th. It is a great tire at the top of the pack.

    Was the Kenda Bearclaw Evo 592 in the test, just curious on how it compares to the Kenda Bearclaw HTR 587. I saw the HTR in the video and it performed very well and the EVO is supposed to be the next generation of the Bearclaw. It's been impossible to find any videos on the EVO's performance or reviews other than by Kenda and they don't even show it being used. Just the standard lineup commentary.

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  6 лет назад

      Hello Ed Burton, no the EVO was not tested in our 25" Tire Shootout. The EVO is the next gen of the Original Bearclaw, which we did test. The HTR is the next better than even the EVO, as compared to today's UTV standards as it is 8-ply and Radial, versus the EVO 6-ply bias tire. The orginal bearclaw, having come in 16th place of the 21 tires tested... looks like it was in need of an update. I am curious how much better it is than the original? We will reach out to Kenda to see if we can get some answers for you. Thanks for watching! - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

    It would be cool to see you guys focus on general tire types in their relation to performance. Things like directional tread pattern vs neutral, radial vs bias belt ect... Maybe even how some mid range mud tires like Zillas or Cryptids do in a test like this... Obviously they'd do well in mud but it would be interesting to see them pull and climb.. You're test set up is awesome, very in depth and informative.. Some serious surprises in this series... Great job!

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you for your response. We are currently in discussion on what to test next and your suggestions are right on par. Like taking the most popular "v-style tread" tires aka: GBC Dirt Devil, Slalsher AT301 and ITP Mud Lite. Or all of the tires with "Maxxis Big Horn" style tread like the BGC Dirt Tamer and test them... as they all propose to "be similar" as they have nearly identical tread patterns. - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

    • @DirtObseXXion
      @DirtObseXXion 6 лет назад

      Great news! Then it would be cool if you took the winners from each category and stack them against each other for the most ideal pattern.. That would be awesome from a consumer perspective..

    Man, you guys ran an awesome experiment. I only wish you would have tested more popular tires! I've never heard of half the tires you tested. Would've been great to see how Bighorns, Pitbulls, Holeshots, Grim Reapers, Viprs, and Black Diamonds stack up.

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  6 лет назад

      Love your comment utah wanderlust700. Maxxis decided not to participate. The Holeshot tires were more ATV Racing than the other tires we were testing. Didn't think they'd hold up... and the other tires you mentioned are super MUD tires, but not top sellers of ours nor are they the best for general use. We have been talking about doing a couple more tests. Top 5 mud tires. Top 5 Sport ATV tires, etc... So much to do. So little time. Thanks for watching! - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

    • @utahwanderlust700
      @utahwanderlust700 6 лет назад +1

      Chaparral Motorsports That's too bad that Maxxis didn't want to participate. It would have been fun to see the Bighorns tested with their better brother...the Vipr.
      Glad to see STI was in on it. You really should try their Black Diamond XTR. It looks like a meaty tire, but it really works well in everything the Rockies and the red rock deserts can throw at it. Head to head against the Bear Claws, it is a tad better at everything, I think.

      Not a good quad but a great one, even better is the Yamaha Grizzly. Polaris is overrated IMO. I own a 2009 Grizzly 550, excellent ride has only needed batteries, a spark plug and oil changes
