Sounds like the Jam2 has come full circle back to its roots, small battery, light weight and slightly detuned. The OG was my first ebike. Really liked it and often have nostalgia pangs…..
The ‘SL’ style bikes were always going to be the evolution of the E-bike, as batteries get lighter and more efficient with improved/lighter motors. In the next couple years SL style will be up to the 80/90nm of the regular E-bikes I bet.
Orbea rise 60nm 19kg h30 base model £4200 it’s come down since I bought mine. Shimano ep8 motor Only downside is slight rattle costing down hills from the motor. It’s epic fun. Relatively Light. Relatively Inexpensive. Carbon models lighter but smaller battery 🔋 Correction. £3915 on monster. Incredible. Relatively speaking of course that’s still a lot of money.
I'm probably more in the market for a lighter eBike. At this price and power they're very attractive. Spent a lot on my Mega but didn't feel it too much on finance. £3915 is doable and at just 19kg.... awesome.
@@pennywood5653 and that’s the “cheapest” heaviest one. If your on finance that might open the window for a lighter carbon model but they do have a smaller battery. Or a better fork (bomber z2 is good but not as good as the fox rear shock) and wheel set (which has splined discs where you really want bolt on jobs) but it is all good enough for the vast majority of riders. Cant argue with 19kg and 60nm of power for that money. Not in my book 👍 Oh should point out, to be fair the rise does not have a removable battery. Charge in the bike only. Hopefully that won’t disappoint anyone too much? But it is 540wh on the alloy hydro frame models 👍
The one thing is the 30nm motor doesn't pull as many amps as the 60-90nm motors. Hence the smaller batteries. They should last the same amount of time. That being said, if they can make a 500-700w battery light enough, the motor can be bigger cause it doesn't weight much more at all.. If the future motors can put out 90nm of torque and only pull a quarter of the amps you can have a 200w battery and it will last the same amount of time.. and as battery tech gets better as well that could very much mean that both could end up weighing 5lbs for the current distance and a larger one that can run for 10hrs at the weight of a super light.. and so on and so forth. Consumption and weight vs power is the name of the game.
It strikes me that one can draw parallels between the mid-power ebike and the 27.5" wheel. Too many people were resistant to migrating from 26" to 29", (they're only for XC, only for tall people etc), so the industry came up with something in the middle, the 650B/27.5", so people would find it easier to transition. Similarly lots of people think full fat eebs have got way more power than they need, are too heavy, and are only for old/unfit/lazy riders. Hence the need for something in between, Not saying it's a perfect analogy, but still....
Love the format. Often Podcast are just reaaally long… but you guys mostly hit a sweet spot of casual talking and still getting to the point!
We try mate! Haha

Late watching this but I'd like to see an agressive hardtail ebike too 👍

If the lightweight eebs were at the current level when I bought my first eeb, I would have chosen one rather than my full power one
Interesting. What eeb do you have right now?
I'm waiting for her but she doesn't arrive! 😢
Nooooo she’ll be on her way!
@@TheRideCompanion maybe an 8.8 is coming!!! 😊
Can't afford both? Won't be a problem when you sell the analog not long after getting an ebike, due to lack of use.
