Song originated on Krf in 1916 as a remembrance to Serbian people and soldiers who crossed Albania fleeing from danger. It's one of the greatest Serbian tragedies as the conditions in Albania were very harsh and many people have died, tens of thousands. Still, over 150 thousand soldiers managed to regroup and play a very important role on the Solun (Thessaloniki) front which was the turnaround of the WW1

Duuuuuude.....y'alllllll.... I'm a metalhead and blues heart and classical mind and guitarist and pianist and multi-instrumentalist for so many years..... and for 3 1/2 months now (beginning of Feb. '23 to now May 18) I've been an accordionist, and I've barely touched my guitars since picking it up 😮 It's a harmonica on steroids and hand reed organ/autoharp (bass side of Stradella bass system) all in one. It's a one man band betwixt two hands, yo. I tell people that I recently started playing accordion and I expect that they're going to laugh and snicker and giggle and shit but then they are overwhelmingly positive about it. Accordion was the shiznittle till The Beatles came around and suddenly everyone wanted to learn guitar because that was the cool thing to do. But nowadays, I find, since guitarists are a dime a dozen quite frankly, people are actually MORE IMPRESSED with an accordion player because it's such a rarity!

@ruhrpottkanake The statement with the numbers as it is put here is not quite correct, and people (mainly in Germany) tend to forget that so many Germans have Slavic ancestors (Wendish, Sorbian, Polabian, Polish, Kashubian). As for this song itself, it is artificial, composed by Jaromír Vejvoda as Škoda lásky.

This was nice, but they missed out on many fantastic made-for-accordion styles for Brazil, especially in the northeast. Their choice of song for Brazil wasn't even written for accordion. They should investigate Brazilian Xote, Xaxado (shashado), and Forró. The southern regions of Brazil have other completely distinct accordion styles. @@clasherdanet8699 Kinad. We have two versions. Original, which is not, and translated english version Beer barrel polka. Original text is about lost love. But the first version was only instrumental.
The song "Rosamunde" has a german Text, but the melody and Polka in general has nothing to do with germany. I think it was because of Ernst Mosch. Technically, He was a german and made Polkas to hits. Today, his birth-region belongs to the Czech Republic.

Spain, Serbia and Bulgaria were really beautiful!

@@JustDuetFFM Thanks for interpeting Donauwellen in this video. Probably my favourite waltz. It represents Romania in a way most other Romanian songs or pieces don't, which is probably why it's one of the most popular. Not Slavic, but not fully Latin either. Thank you again
its not that different
It’s quite similar to the Romanian rythm actually and maybe other Balkan ones too.
@@sticlavoda5632 Are you kidding me !? A waltz representing *Romania* ? Maybe DOINA! But I get it, that's not a nice style for the accordion.
“Rosamunde” is actually Czech (Bohemian) later known as Beer Barrel Polka in English speaking countries
Finally someone pointed it out
Rosamunde is a german word for "pink mouth" or "pink lips"
But the song is synonymous with Germany and their culture of drinking, since more people know what Germany is than Czech Republic
@ruhrpottkanake Beer Barel polka/ Škoda lásky is originaly only Czech !! composer Is Václav Vejvoda, not germany not austria

They also missed Newfoundland, Canada which has a very unique style.
