I love how Star Media does its historical dramas and biographies. No crappy intros, no corny storylines, scenes were carefully taken. You can see flaws now and then but it does not affect the flow of the story.
Do you think it was quartz by the face?? They used that face on a lot of clocks, mechanical , in that case, and electric. There were even electric that jumped by the second.
I doubt this will get any attention from StarMedia, but something went wrong with the English subtitles. Apostrophes became [ í ] accented letters, quote marks became [ ë ] letters, and so on.
I find it almost ironic that up until this documentary, most popular documentaries and articles about Beria were always about comparing him to Himmler and so forth, even within Russia... but once again, Star Media does what they do best and they shine a light on this man's entire life rather than just the atrocities he was apart of, and this is only part one of two, so that means alot when you have to break up the story into two full parts. I have yet to see any recent documentaries from the US that reach this level of detail and research anymore... unfortunately our heyday for this kind of stuff was the late 80s into the early 2000s. I wait however for a english subbed version of the Napoleonic Wars series.
I stumble upon old CNN reportage from 1995 about atrocities in Balkans during WW2 (the most victim were Serbian) and I was shocked how fair and detailed it was. Nothing comparable with CNN today
The comparison to Himmler is hard to avoid for a whole slew of reasons. Both were hardworking and talented administrators, and became largely indispensable to their masters. This was best illustrated when Stalin introduced him to Roosevelt as "our Himmler" at the Yalta conference.
@@Martina-Kosicanka CNN was once a legitimate news network. Today it is a politically biased opinion forum that only faintly resembles its former stature.
I appreciated the detail. Stuff I could never have found in history books nor on video. Thank you! And how you managed to make it entertaining. In fact engrossing. There's no denying he was one of Stalin's most brilliant lieutenants (much like Himmler was one of Hitler's). But the handiwork of such men creates a notoriety that is both stunning and frightful in roughly equal measure.
How about a documentary about Sergei Korolev the Soviet chief engineer of the space program? This is important because the Western documentaries about him are biased. Thank you and more power to you Star Media!
A lot of it is accurate, but they are also conveniently leaving out a lot of embarrassing and telling facts. There's more to this story than just the upside.

Khrushchev engineered his downfall out of fear for his own safety. He also feared the reforms Beria was advocating, which he felt went too far. Ironically only a few years later Khrushchev began championing substantial reform, as well as de-Stalinization. Beria was, in fact, well ahead of him in pushing for change.
Those "petty criminals" were top states men of their time, it's worth time to actually understand what moves they did in such positions for us to predict similar ones appearing and preventing them from repeating their hellish plans from being unleashed.
