The 2.8 l v6 was never used in these. The first generation used 4 cylinders exclusively, and the 2nd gen had a 2.5 l v6 option, but the 2.8 wasn't available.
I don't think so. I believe it's the "METRIC" bellhousing pattern, because it's the 60* and not the 90* like the 4.3 V6 and the first gen V8's. The early 80's Cherokee's and Comanche truck that had the anemic 2.8. And the easiest engine swap for them was the 3.4. Because it was an all round better engine.
This 2x4 Tracker came with a 1.8L. The 99-2004 4x2 came with the 2.0L engine. I’m getting ready to take a perfect 2003 2x4 Tracker and install a 5.3 with a power glide. And a 4 Link 9in rearend. My 5.3 will be stock with a cam. Possibly setup for a single turbo down the line. I hope to run mid 10’s N/A. My Tracker is original 70k miles and zero rust car out of Alabama. With full cage and strip interior I hope to be under 2500lbs without me in it, ready to race. The 2x4 trackers make great light full frame race cars. Easy to build and make go fast.
I bought a 1991 Tracker black with black top and the green TRACKER on the side. Automatic with a 4x4 mini stick. You had to get out and lock the hubs then put it in 4 wheel drive. The damn thing was gutless. I got pulled over by a Texas highway patrol and he said he clocked me doing 100mph. I laughed and he said this is serious and I agreed it was seriously funny. I was on I10 going from Houston to San Antonio with the top partially open. Just the sunroof part you would unlatch and fold back then Velcro. So it's like driving a paper bag sideways with the open part of the bag facing ahead to catch all the wind. I said there is no way in hell I even could have remotely gotten close to 100mph. Maybe if we were going 65 then we went off a cliff a really deep cliff. I said I can't go that fast. I've got 80 hamster power with 94 ft pounds of torque. He laughed and gave me a warning and let us go. I really couldn't get faster than 70. The vibrations would get so bad by the time we'd get across town I've got rheumatism and no fillings in my teeth. But it got the girls and being ages 18-24 when I had the little car the fishing was GOOD! Ahh great times..
@@thelastholdout Last time I talked to the owner at the track, he said it has a swap from a CTS-V. I dont remember if it was single or twin turbo, though.
@@jackdaniel1848 thank you for the correction! Either way it's a hell of a machine. Only thing that would be funnier is throwing a Tesla engine into it or something.
What would anyone suggest i have a 2.5l 24v v6 2001 suzuki grand vitara 4x4 idk what i should do if i should swap it for 2jz gte for more space and better performance but it is a offroading car so i kinda like both ideas💀
I have a very nice little 2002 Vitara and I don't think I'll feel complete until it has a turbo on it .. anybody out there know what I need to get that job done...
Chevrolet made a version and called in Chevrolet Tracker, how the "geo" came about I have no clue. I live in Denmark and my version is a 2004 Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.5 V6 Automatic
Sounds like a whipple under that hood... Not sure what its attached to but with the power to weight ratio and the driver hooking it up and laying down 9's... It doesn't seem to matter... Porn is porn though... And we all want a peek under that skirt
not at all, the time and effort it takes to redo all the wiring and get everything working with an engine it was never intended to run with is massive.
I mean... technically they do? The Geo brand as a whole is just rebadged Suzuki vehicles. But yeah, the Tracker is specifically the Geo branded one; the Suzuki version is the Sidekick
Just a heads up Tracker fans, if you're Tracker is equipped with the GM 2.8 V6, any small or big block Chevy engine will bolt right up.
That's Great info thank you
Which means any Powerglide, th350, th400, 700R4 will bolt to that, also, even 4l60\80
I have a built to spec 4L75+, behind my gen IV 6.0

Gotta love the announcer. Up next is a Suzuki Samurai or whatever...

Sounds like an ls with a turbo or turbos
It's a turbo 6.0 V8 taken out of a truck apparently. Just read an article about it because it was put up for sale.

Dang what kind of engine is in there my 94 Suzuki Sidekick don't do that?
Wow 😂 he woke up and chose to win
Geo Tracker, not Suzuki. The Suzuki version is called the Sidekick

It's a Suzuki Vitara in Australia as well.
If I recall correctly, it was the Vitara basically everywhere but the US, and possibly Canada

what is the cc?
Has a 5.3L in it
