Thanks for posting this. I have an 05 Stratus with a 2.7 in it. First thing I did was tear down the motor and replace the water pump. And since I had to remove the timing chain to get at it, I also replaced the timing chain, chain guides and tensioner, shaft seals, serpentine belt, alternator, valve cover gaskets, coil packs and sparks, and the oil pan gasket. Job took me a week and cost me $500. 40k miles later I’m losing coolant and it’s not coming out of the weep hole or going into the oil. WTF where is it going?!?
I just ran into this problem and there are two possible answers to why that weeping hole is leaking. #1, the water pump has failed, and #2, the thermostat housing has a small hole, and if your car ran hot enough, this small hole on the housing will rupture, causing fluid to into the weeping hole and exit the weep hole. In our case, the thermostat housing and the water pump was bad and needed to be replaced. If your vehicle is higher mileage and was almost over heated or over heated, id recommend replacing the water pump, thermostat and thermostat housing to fix this problem. Otherwise, you'll be chasing a problem over and over again. Best of luck!
The V6 all have this problem. First had to replace radiator because of leak ($1200), then water pump due to thermostat housing. Timing chain must be replaced as well when pump goes out (2200).. F*** this $h1t. Ill just get another car. Its still at the dealership
My 2.7 2007 dodge magnum overheating blowing all my coolant back out the expansion tank overflow tube the pressurizing out weep hole what's up help me?
I have the same problem and I replaced the thermostat and the o ring on the inlet pipe and it was good , I tested it with water ran it for 5min no leak then I replaced the water with coolant and it started leaking again . I think the o ring has to be from the dealer or oem spec, I found out that it’s the water pump weep hole so the water pump is bad . Don’t buy American cars you will need a engine if you over heat
I replaced the o ring on the aluminum pipe along with new thermostat housing and mine is leaking agent and now its been 6 months and it is happening again but worse
I’m come across this solution myself. Only logical fucking answer. No way that’ll just hold. I’ve heard that replacing the water pump, you need to actually run the engine to get the seals to Break in, so my plan is to plug the weep hole, considering my car isn’t leaking coolant into my oil. And run it for some time, then unplug it and pray that it’ll hold the coolant. Kinda sketchy But I am not taking that fucking car apart again FUCK THAT I’ll update you guys with the results. Seems like I got the car with no freeze plugs, and everyone’s kinda overlooking it, they wanna jump to the conclusion that the housing is bad or the thermostat or the yadda yadda. But I just replaced everything and I’m doubtful.
@@miriamgranger7129 yeah, I had to unplug the weep hole where the thermostat mounts to the car, and re install the thermostat to get it to stop leaking, there’s a certain amount of torque the bolts need, if you over tighten it, it’ll leak if you under tighten it it’ll leak

What did you do to fix this issue

Weep hole is an overheating exit for water pumps breaks through something I find out when I overhaul it myself
Dude what's taking you so long to put water in there
My 2.7 2007 dodge magnum overheating blowing all my coolant back out the expansion tank overflow tube the pressurizing out weep hole what's up help me?
Mines doing that now
Mine is doing the same thing. Did anyone figure it out!
Not sure about the weep hole but replaced the thermostat housing and thermostat plus the radiator.

Facts
did you figure out what it is ? I changed my radiator new thermostat & now about to do the water pump since it still leaking water 😐😑
you replace the O ring for the heater to the thermestat housing
AFdesignsI
it was the water pump
The problem was the new water pump?
I fixed mine. It's the thermostat housing an $8 part.
Bro you still had the water hose for the heater hose connected..it runs from the Reservoir to the fire wall...it cycles lol
I got the same problem. How do you fix it ?????????
did you find what was leaking?
yes this hose is going to the heater hose so I need to check their heater hoses pipes
Scott price
did u find out what the problem was?
still no answer
so nobody knows what was the problem or why is leaking from the weep hole
Thank you . I did a quick fix J AND B WELDING AND IT STOP THE LEAK SO FAR . WEEP HOLE J&b welding easy yeah.
Garcia Garcia you not suppose to seal up the weep hole it’s there for a reason
Did you have to take something apart to get to the weep hole to seal it?
Garcia Garcia pendejo no debiste sellar ese oyo,!!!!!
Did you find out the problem
usual have that prob if not oem mopar water pump
I replaced the o ring on the aluminum pipe along with new thermostat housing and mine is leaking agent and now its been 6 months and it is happening again but worse
4.7?
Same question here
so how did you fix this problem .
Garcia Garcia I got rid of the @@@@@@
did you get it wright ?
Weep hole has a rubber o ring thats attatched to thepart that inserts into weep hole. Just had that problem
young gamer 900 you mean the pipe that goes into the thermostat with the o ring on it can cause the weep hole to leak ?
I have a dodge charger 2007.V6,2.7 engine. The problem is from the seal inside water outlet(lower hose housing)Thermostat housing.
I have the same exact car the same year and everything and it does the same thing that it shows in the video do you know what it is
i have the same problem as of now with my 2007 dodge magnum and im very puzzled!!!
Hey from what I found out there maybe a crack in the block. Did your run hot? More than once?
Scott Price it has a small drip. i havent changed my water pump as of yet
Ok. Than you may be ok. I change the water pump three time. Make sure u get the correct one. If u do it yourself..
Junior Silmon same here it's a pain in the ass
Your water outlet
Use a needle to insert it to the weep hole
more likely have the thermostat housing is leaking
All new hoses jackass!!!
And the lower hose not hooked up!!
How could the thermostat housing be leaking and it’s coming from the weep hole?
look like the thermostat housing gasket
Same BS on a 3.5L '06 Magnum. Thermostat is original, water pump replaced twice.
It's the car
You have to let car run for like 5-10min to allow water pump gasket to seal then leak will stop, especially after new waterpump
You need a motor
🤣🤣
They looks like muscle cars, but engine is piece of 💩.. especially 2.7
I made a video on this
Freeze plug
Lean Skeet ...so if he change his freeze plug it will stoo da leak?

So don’t need to change water pump and do you know the torque
Just get ridve it the car is going to keep giving you problems get a honda or something else
word i regret putting new tires and shot on this car. now I wanna get rid of it. I hate American cars
