Nice video and shop tour. One of the questions that came to my mind that I do not believe was covered in this video is how you control / prevent sound from shop getting into other rooms and levels of the house? Do you use insulation in the ceiling, inside wall insulation, etc.?
@@topperdude2007 You're right, that wasn't covered. Fortunately, the noise doesn't bother my wife and son. I haven't installed any kind of noise dampening or sound proofing for the shop at all but the noise isn't really all that bad.
@@FishersShop Wow - thanks for the quick reply, most RUclipsrs hardly ever respond to my comments/questions! So I totally appreciate getting a quick (and honest) response - especially from a RUclipsr I have learnt a lot from and have respect for the honesty / tell-it-like-it-is whether the product is good or bad! Anyway, just to clarify the reason I asked about the sound was I am in process of finishing my own basement and have finished framing (as of Jun 2020) and electrical as of Feb 2021 but waiting on supplies of insulating material which (as with many building materials) is in short supply with bigger builders etc. grabbing any "batches" that might come in. For the 15yrs we have lived in this house since building it, we have noticed sound travels quite easily between the levels since the builders did not use insulation for inside walls or even 5/8" drywall for walls / ceilings. So we definitely want better sound isolation between levels and between rooms in basement due to more full-time work from home. Some friends (who own properties in town) recommended mineral wool which is denser than fiberglass along with sound isolation channel (but currently really hard to find at local Menards, Home Depot, Lowes, Ace etc.). Hence my question. Keep up the great work!
14:43 I liked the part where you say "I don't have any fancy clamp rack..." Then you show your clamp rack and I literally see rays of light emitting from it, while angels sing in sweet, sweet harmony. 😲😲😲
Very intelligent designs and well thought out. I have bought several plans and have worked out really well, thank you Drew for the hard work you put into your channel (and the outtakes... )
Thank you for the tour. I can certainly appreciate honoring your grandfather by using the flat head screws. I do love the trolling though. Keep up the great work (and sharing your outtakes)!!
I love your attitude towards, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". You recognize what tools need upgrades and which ones work, although they may not be perfect.
That flip top is the best thing in my little micro shop, I even added the required unnecessary walnut pull handle on the drawer . I have a oscillating spindle sander on one side and a Dewalt thickness planer on the other. Use it all the time.
Love, love, love this shop tour! My husband and I are (slowly) building our first, very small, shop and have used your ideas, tips, build plans, and so much more. You're pretty much our Fairy Sawdust Mother when it comes to shop things. As always, this video is excellent and the background eye candy (tools) is so much fun to gawk at.
Drew, I need some advice. My wife has recently realized my tactics when making shop purchases. My usual go-to is "it'll pay for itself!" and come up with some 40 year long plan on how it's a no-brainer purchase, but she's rolled her eyes so hard she now needs ocular surgery, and she's blaming me. How can I save my marriage and still buy the 4000th clamp that I desperately need to build my next birdhouse project? It's a mid-rise design if you wanted to know, very modern
Nice shop, with your plans I built a flip cart for my oscillating sander and miter saw station for my Bosch 12"compoiund although I recently moved up to a Kapex .It is always a challenge adjusting to a small space workshop and I try and get as many ideas as possible to get more organized. Thanks for showing.
Awesome to see how far your shop has come since I first found your little guitar stands. You certainly manage to squeeze a lot of out of a small space. Keep em coming Drew.
So pumped you did this Drew! I love how efficiently and creatively setup you've created your shop...definitely inspiring! And don't think I missed the X-Acto's cameo...so awesome!
I’m planning on building a shop so I can move my tools out of my two car garage. Thank you for your detailed shop tour, lots of great design techniques and smart ideas. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
Interesting to kinda reminisce on many of the tools and projects you discussed in the video. I can recall seeing several of them in past videos. The miter saw, flip cart and CNC to name a few. Thanks for posting this and best of luck on obtaining a new drill press and work bench.
For whatever reason I always felt the shop was bigger than the dimensions that you showed. It seems very similar in size to my basement shop so it was encouraging to see the potential with good organization.
Just found your channel after purchasing my first table saw, and found the need for a good push stick. That’s coming along nicely, thanks for the free plans!! Once that’s finished I’ll be purchasing your plans for the cross cut sledge. Love the channel, so many great ideas and love your presentation.. Keep up the great work!!
Nice shop! I have 4 of those Bora Portamate mobile bases they are great if you have a smooth shop floor. Easy hack - connect them with a piece of hardwood for one step activation. Slot the ends so that the orange kickers are centered in the wood. Retain with a screw from underneath. Especially useful for really heavy machines.
That's so impressive how many beautiful projects you have done and your shop is so small. You have definitely thought everything through. Hat tip. Love your channel
I found out about you from your interview with Matt and Amy of 731, and have been watching through allot of your videos, and I gotta say you have some amazing ideas I will be trying myself, and am happy to add you to my woodworking education list as I know I can learn allot from you. Thank you for what you do...
I absolutely detest flathead screws🤬. They're quite simple in design, yet are cleverly designed harpoons for the finger tips. I totally respect the reason for why you use them. More power to you.
Imagine a blue muppet screaming and being shaken left and right like he is enraged. That’s how I feel about the flathead screws. Well played, Fisher. Tour was fantastic as always. Really hyped for the outfeed bench.
Nice shop!! You’re really maximizing the space you have. I enjoy all your content and have purchased some of your plans. I like the way you blend humor with the projects you’re building. Keep the content coming!!
Thank you for the tour Drew! I really enjoyed it! I have been following you since you started your Channel, I just bought your plans for the miter saw stand, I like your design of the many that I looked at and I needed it to be compact. I will have drawers instead since I have a dust collection system directly behind where it will live. I sure hope your neighbor never gets a security camera system, video content output will certainly slow down. 🤣🛫
You're so organized, I am embarrassed to say it but I spend half my time in the shop looking for stuff. Eventually I give up and go buy the item again. Oh yeah, nice tour, thanks.

Really enjoy the non-woodworking videos. Your plans are pretty easy to follow along, also. I've built the Flip Cart, table saw jigs, and trying to find a reason to build the Lift Top Coffee Table.

The Rikon DC works wonderfully for me. I'm not sure what soured your experience on them. I always enjoy your humor on stealing lumber from you neighbor.
"And if you think I actually do that...(strained laughter)...I do" I am rolling over here 🤣
I for one appreciate the “flat head” screws.
Thanks for all the insight and humor.
You bet! Thanks for watching
I loved your Covert lumber acquisition bit - "Yeah I do" priceless

Thanks for taking the time to share your shop with us!
You bet! Thanks for watching
you make me happy... because you reflect happiness
😊
I like your shop. Thanks for showing us all around. All that walnut. Good for you.
I really enjoyed and love how you pay homage to your grandpa. 👍
Thanks, Michael!
You’re Welcome.
Love the running joke about your neighbor!
Always super entertaining Drew. Can't wait to see that bench build you promised!
Coming soon!
Very intelligent designs and well thought out. I have bought several plans and have worked out really well, thank you Drew for the hard work you put into your channel (and the outtakes... )
Thanks, Nigel!
I only watched for the outtakes...Worth it!
Thank you for the tour. I can certainly appreciate honoring your grandfather by using the flat head screws. I do love the trolling though. Keep up the great work (and sharing your outtakes)!!
Thanks, Chad!
I feel like your outtakes are just a play by play of my everyday life.
I love your attitude towards, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". You recognize what tools need upgrades and which ones work, although they may not be perfect.
Glad you elevated the wood rack to avoid unnecessary stitches from you know what.
I always get good ideas when I see how you’ve set things up. Thanks for sharing! And I love the description of your drill press. Ha ha
Thanks bud! :)

That's when you print out some fake coupons that say "Buy a clamp and get a free dinner for you and your spouse!" :)
Or "I stole this clamp from my neighbor."
Every time you want something new, leave room in the budget for a kohl's gift card (or whatever store is her natural habitat)

Good balance of interesting to old subscribers but also friendly to new ones!

I am hyped for the fisher work bench!
You and me both!
