These turbos are going to go down in history as a major mistake………
Unfortunately, they were forced on car companies worldwide because of Biden‘s policies!
I had the 1986 toyota pickup with 4 cylinder turbo i drove it over 300,000 miles with no trouble that's all toyota used to make was 4 cylinder engine's the V-6 and V-8 are the ones that are new now
@@davidchenette1091 that was back then when the 22R/E engines were made tough and could handle the turbo.
@Oni64 there way better now
@ but I bet they don’t last like the non turbo engines. I guess time will tell.
Still not worth it for that overpriced junk
Yeah I’d rather buy a Ranger. Still pricey but closer to its value
😂😂
4 cyl with a bed only half a sheet of plywood will fit in and mpg that can be attained with a 5.0 coyote! I think not...
You hit it perfectly. I'd love to downsize but I need something in return, and a more complicated engine with the same mpg isn't it.
furthermore the price is almost the same, more value with getting a full size if same price
A thorn in there side, is definitely an understatement. Caveman Auto Review said.
4 door with useless back seats, perfect
@christos881
You're joking, right? Who buys a midsized truck for the back seats? Also, go sit in the back seat of the Tacoma. It's very comfortable for a short trip.
Theirs quite a few of them for a reason
HUGE DISCOUNTS- Another click bait vid. Those are not huge discounts chief. I have 3 dealers with 150 units within 50 miles of me. Nothing is selling. I tried to get them up under $30 on a base 2 door 4WD steel wheels this past friday night. NOPE. Listed at multple dealers for $32K. And 2 dealers still tried to start me a $41 MSRP. STAY WAY FROM THESE TRUCKS
Yes, never trust dealer discounts
My god Ben, you should cut yours hair and trim bears.
How many of my bears should I trim?
You need to take better care of yourself boss. You are in the entertainment business, not saying you need to look like a weatherman but the lack of effort is very apparent.
@@atlasfan2079 sorry, but you look like a crack dealer....clean yourself up!
A weatherman 😂?
Wow that back seat looks tight. I have a 2002 and it also tight but looks like there is more leg space than the 2025.
The dealerships in my area have 4x4 SR5s crew cabs for $38k, which in my area is cheaper than similarly equipped trucks. The others are all over $40k.
I paid just under$35K (full list) for a 2021 SR5, extra cab with 6 ft box, so $38k isn’t too bad when u figure in inflation IMO.
Except the new Tacoma’s have massive transmission problems on record.
$35k should be current prices, not for a 4 year old truck. I have the same.
@@tropicthndr There was a small number of transmission issues on a specific prduction run during the 2024 model year, but they fixed the impacted models and immediately discovered and removed the issue from production.
Wish I was able to wait to get these discounts. But sharing an old Subaru with my wife was starting to become a real challenge. I love my 24 Taco, if you consider rising costs everywhere and that this truck has much more useful tech it’s almost justifiable in price. Even the base model looks really good minus the tiny wheels.
I Lemon Lawed my 24' Tacoma, and they just bought it back on January 17th. By far, the worst paint and finish on any new vehicle I've bought. Not to mention, these Toyotas have a major design flaw. First, they widened the stance. Then, they limited covering the tire tread by tapering the fenders and flares. Their splash guards are tapered, too. So, the design leads to basically sandblasting your truck. From various road or trail debris! It's worse when the vehicle is in 4WD or you own a Limited with AWD. When I talked to the Toyota Rep, they knew there were problems. However, they didn't think they would be this bad. They offered me another Tacoma, but I declined. Seventeen times at the dealership in less than 5 months. With 1,782 miles! No thanks, it's time to move on. What's it going to look like at 3 to 5 years? Didn't want to find out!!!!!
I think the ranger and gladiator might be a better purchase.
Especially with high last year model discounts on the Gladiator.
I’m not optimistic about Toyota’s new platform but I would still trust them before Ford and Stalantis
Ben, can you review a Tacoma SR xtra cab 4x2 with the steel wheels. Just want a base pick up with a 6ft bed. Don't need 4 doors.
You don’t want a larger car payment?!? That’s crazy 🤪
Just remember if you get a are base model Toyota takes away 50 hp off the engine...xd
@@1976axerhand That's true, but it might not be a bad thing. Less stress on such a small engine.
Glad i picked up a 2023 before they ruined the platform and overpriced it. The V-6 is the biggest reason people bought them for the ruggedness. If your going to get a turbo your better served with a colorado. Me personally id get a frontier now if your looking for a dependable midsize truck.
Yeah ok let me know how those 2 trucks hold up in 4 years after every major part goes out on it and it rattles going down the road and every bump in the road ,, good luck!!
@@cajunboy6792 its a popular opinion
Ben you have to do something with the cave man look.
Reviewing new vehicles is so easy a caveman could do it.
😅🤣😂🤣😆
@ 🤣🤣🤣
The new Toyota trucks suck in my opinion,
Toyota tacoma is too pricey. High payments. Insurance, registration. Plus fuel and maintenance, tires, etc. This base is still too expensive.
I don’t get why the 4th gen sr5 tailgate isn’t dampened when the 3rd gen sr5 was.
Toyota’s research indicated that not many people on soy based diets buy their trucks so they concluded the owners were physically strong enough the manually raise and lower the tailgates.
38k for a new 2023 Tacoma TRD OR or 40 plus for this? Simple decision for me.
Ben, always mention the lack of V6 and V8 engines when you review... Maybe they listen? 😂 Absolutely #1 dislike.
SR5 is the sweet spot. But how much?
Very nice SR5 that's i needed but I brought the tacoma trail hunter
it's all about price. When you can purchase a Gladiator Rubicon or Colorado Z71 for the same price as the SR5 Tacoma. I am looking to replace my Silverado when I look at Tacoma TRD off road it was nearly 64K. And people complaining about engine cylinders are literally blow hards. All the Ecoboost variants are more popular than the Coyote. Soon the PowerBoost will become a more popular option than the Coyote. Buyers care about performance and driveability than cylinders.
Wrong
@benjaminyoung1746 what's wrong bot?
@@benjaminyoung1746 exactly what I thought low information bot. Go chum the waters elsewhere.
I sure wish somebody would go into each Tacoma model and find out how much headroom there is!
I know myself, the only tacoma truck tall people can get into, are the 6 foot bed and perhaps the sport model. I’ve sat in the regular Tacoma‘s and my head is always have about an inch of head room for headspace. I’m 6’2
Huge discounts is suprising
A quality turbo motor could easily last 250-350k miles. However, I have doubts that the turbo itself would last that long, or the transmission with all that torque down low.
The Goliath 2025 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Vs The David 2025 Volkswagen Taos SEL
Nicer, bigger wheels and I would consider it. Otherwise a pretty cool truck.
SR5 is not the base model 🤡🤦🏻
Toyota alienated their core audience because they thought their sales and domination (Midsize category) would never go away. Higher prices and less reliable. Not a good combo
Bro, what issues are you talking about? Every vehicle has minor issues when there is a change besides for a few transmission issues there hasn’t been any major issues with the new taco.
@@cajunboy6792 I understand there are teething issues with new vehicles but having both TFL and Truck King BOTH have their test vehicles fail catastrophically (In 2 different ways) wasn't a good look. Also the Tundra having MASSIVE engine issues was another blow to their reputation recently. I've also heard about build quality/materials also being downgraded in the new gen
@@Wicked_Runs The front differential issue was in a pre-production truck. TFL was using the settings incorrectly and overloading the front differential like bone-heads, and Toyota figured out the failure point and remedied it before production. Why do so many people see one minor imperfection that was fixed before production, and completely bash the actual production truck? It makes no sense and looks bad on the thousands of people angrily commenting on every RUclips video about the truck. Get a life, man!
@@Brian-og4uu Another massive recall
@ I don't see one recorded since the main May 2024 recall. Toyota changed parts in production around that time and haven't seen notable failures on the newer units yet (as far as I know)
I payed 46k for a f150 xlt 4x4 super crew. With 2.7 ecoboost v6
The four cylinder turbo on these Tacomas will be a very reliable engine. Toyota has been developing four cylinder turbo engines for decades. Take advantage of the discounts now. You'll be happy you did.
Dude, just google turbo engines and see what the odometer says. Yeah, skip the ford ecoboost with 200,000 after 5 years. Anyone decent car should last 250k in 5 years. High mileage cars trucks are non turbo non direct injected engines non auto start.
SR is a base model
Not bad looking truck
led lights or not
Yes
It’s not 1998 anymore bro
Sup Ben!
2025 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Double Cab Half Cab 4X4!
Recently rented a Tacoma Off Road base spec in Northern California...here are my thoughts...cheap interior...way too much plastic. Seats comfortable for a short trip...after 1+ hrs in traffic I was dying, couldn't wait to get out of the truck. Non Hybrid engine was ok but felt very underwhelming, no character. Infotainment system...seriously they need to outsource this to a tech company because they really don't know how to make a good UI. I liked the styling and the new dimensions but just feel like they went cheap everywhere. Was looking forward to this launch and was ready to buy but the value isn't there for the price points. The SR version you test drove is a $32K truck not $42K...If they want to charge those prices then need to refine the interior, get rid of the plastic and offer a different powertrain.
He test drove the SR5. The SR is even less and is the true bare bones model.
@@c1rca23 The SR 2 door version is less common in the streets.
Still overpriced…Should be $30k for a base model..I always wait till 3 years into a redesign b4 buying so 2026 would be it….
Bro you can’t get a cheap hooker for 30k what world are you people living in geez!
19 in the City? Lol i have a 24 rental with 3k miles if i get 17 im lucky. I drive it like an old person..xd
SR5 isnt the base model dude
Loaded Trail Boss with way more features for 43.
Hmmmm
frontier or ridgeline !
38 grand for this one
No bad are u joking 😂
Outstanding Video As Usual 🇺🇸 🌎 🇺🇲 🇺🇸 🌎 🇺🇲 🇺🇸 🌎 🇺🇲 🇺🇸 Thanks Ben😊😅
Manual AND auto are junk
Still to much no thanks good bye toyota 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Bye!
Remember general motors is in the process of announcing a 800,000 major engine recall on there V8 s just go look its on the Internet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You'd think all car manufacturers would know how to build engines that would last 500K miles by now.
Isn't toyota going to do a bunch of transmission?Issues
Ben, thank you for the heart, but it does not give me my answer🤣😭
No. That was fixed relatively quickly after they identified the issue of debris left in the tranny during the manufacturing process.
@@freeone1545 only issue we have been having is transmission program problems that are fixed really easily with a reprogram. Only one truck has been in for a motor problem in 8 months which was a lose belt from a bolt backing out.
🤦♂️
$42k for a truck that sits 2 people. Plasticky. Engine issues. 😂Nah.
What engine issues are you talking about we haven’t had a single truck come in with engine issues? We have had a few with transmission programing issues that was fixed by simply reprogramming beside for that this truck is very reliable.
@ ok. Glad you’ve seen all tacomas. These turbos and engine issues Toyota has had. Yes. It’s coming if not already.
Gladiator better buy
What’s the point of a short bed truck with no leg room for passengers in the back? Just get an F150…
Got get a junk ford if you want to!
@ have never had a problem and it’s big enough for a family and 2 dogs. The Tacoma is for teenagers.
