Thank you so much for this! It’s amazing how close our why is. My husband and I split up a couple of months ago and now I’m trying to get out of debt and get my own home. I will continue to watch and pray that we both get what we deserve this next year!!
I love your description of sinking funds vs. savings accounts. I also use open credit lines as an analogy; sinking funds are like open-end credit products in that you can constantly take money and replenish (like credit cards) and regular savings goals are like close-ended credit products, like loans. You set your goal, save it and that’s it, it’s done. At least that’s how I look at them lol
Setting up a new year is always so exciting! You have some big goals and lots of changes coming. I too have big, life changing plans for next year. Thanks for continuing to share your journey.
As long as you’re consistent in how you categorize things your fine but some suggestions: (1) Expand auto category to be broader than just gas. Include annual registrations, maintenance & repairs, car washes (2) Expand Logan category to be broader than his allowance. Include clothes, fees for any recreation activities he does, etc (3) Consider making a category for heath/beauty vs putting those expenses into miscellaneous. IMO miscellaneous s/b for expenses that don’t fit in another category or are unplanned for that don’t have enough $ for in their respective category. Getting haircuts and needing beauty supplies & household items happens on a regular basis and is substantial enough to have a category.
I setup my Nov and Dec stickers this weekend. They look so pretty. I'll be buying Jan with your Cyber Monday sale. I enjoy watching your step by step and appreciate your openness.
Jennifer- I just got my full size workbook from TBM. Can you please do a video with all stickers needed? I know you use several from your shop and I just need to know what to order. I would like to go ahead & get my Jan-March stickers
How would you record expenses for kids that you have paid, but your ex spouse reimburses 1/2? This happens at least on 5-6 different line items per month for me. Just starting to track expenses and want to start off the best way.
The workbook through the QR is for the old workbook. I hope she updates it. This is the first workbook of hers that I bought so your videos are very helpful.
Personally, instead of saying I don’t want to be a financial burden on my son, I say, I want to be financially secure when I’m old and no longer working. The reason is because it isn’t up to me if I am going to be a financial burden on my son. My son could choose to not support me. I’m not saying that right. What I mean is this, my mom is a financial burden on my sister. But, it’s my sister who has made the decision to allow this. She can at any time kick my mom out. But she feels guilty about it, so she doesn’t do it. You cannot force your children to financially support you in retirement. Poor planning on our part, does not constitute an emergency on our children’s part. I hope I’m making sense. By being a financial burden on my son, not only have I ruined my future, I’ll be ruining his. Also, if I messed up my finances, there is a high chance I didn’t teach him good financial practices either. So, when I am old, he won’t have the finances available to take care of me anyway. What a disaster. Thanks, I needed this little talk. It really helped me put things into perspective.
Michigan car insurance is more expensive then some states. Moving by your parents should be cheaper. Might be smart to check that out, so you don't get a big sticker shock.
I didn't see you mention car insurance in your bills but I could have missed it. I have a car expense bucket so I included my gas insurance and maintenance fees and regulations in this bucket 🪣 is so hard to think of everything since I am new to this budgeting world but I am learning 😊😊
You could make a savings goal sheet sticker to cover up the saving plants page. I hate she got rid of the actual savings page I don't like coloring the leaves.
I plan to do this, too. As I watched your video, Jennifer, I took notes for myself on what I plan to change for my own setup. I am a paper planner for my work things, and I also use a paper planner for budgeting. I will print out a copy of TBM yearly savings sheet and tape it in (or print it on sticker paper) to cover up the leaves. I really dislike the visual trackers - I don’t keep up with them, so those are a waste for me!
Hi Jen. I had a question?? I signed up for Paetron and Dec 1 is my first payment will I get Jan and or Feb sticker kits? Do I need to purchase 1 or both or none. Promise I will get the hang of it.😂😊😅
Shouldn’t the house repairs be a 50/50 split with your ex. He should upfront his share then both of you get reimbursed if there are available funds after the sale of the home. You should not be taking on the whole burden.
Why #2 I want to live in a new house. Remove any reference to the ex-husband so it focuses only on the future and leaves any reference of him in the past.
I moved my car payment from debt to a bill, when I went from making payments on a loan versus leasing for a period of time. My thinking is as long as I'm leasing I will have to pay the bill. Unfortunately, it's not a debt that will eventually be paid off. Once I'm done with the lease I have to return the vehicle to the dealership.

I'm sending you lots of positive vibes for 2025! 😊

That's a great idea! I think it would be helpful for a lot of friends. Right now the only kits available in the 2025 layout are my January kits.
Very helpful! I filled mine out at the same time. 💜
Good morning! Watching before work.. I have the cheaper student Amazon account and it's great, no limitations or differences for me.
Great video. Suggestion change gas to car and add maintenance and insurance. Have a awesome week
Hi Jennifer. Yes, I filled out my “why” and I am pretty passionate about my “why” too. Good luck Jennifer. You got this! 🙌💐🧡
So excited for you and this next year! ❤
I don’t even like paying the $75 I have to pay for my car registration. I can’t imagine $300. 😬😂
I always love when you film setting this all up. You always give me so many good ideas!
Glad you like them! 😊💕
Great video. Love your why's. Would you be able to get a cheaper Amazon under Jacob since he's a student? 💙

Great budget set up….Thank you !❤❤❤♥️
Moving expenses as a sinking fund
Great video! I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving! ❤

Agree. We're not suppose to be a burden on others. Working wether we want to or not, until debt free, investing wisely & have a plan! 😊
Just take care of you. We put ourselves into taking care of everyone but ourselves, First.
“You can’t set yourself on fire to keep others warm”.
You are amazing Jennifer! 🎉😊💜
Do you think you will be able to put something towards an emergency fund after the house sells?
That's a great idea!
Great video Jennifer. :)
This is going to be an exciting year for you and Logan ❤
I like the idea of putting a picture in the "why" section.
Great video!! 🌸 💚💚
Love it Jennifer❤ Can’t believe we at the end of the year 😮
Happy December. It sounds like a great plan to get you ready to move by June.
Will you be close to T.C. Mi ? If your from the mitten you know lol
I'm sorry I don't know, I only know the little bit of Michigan that I have visited. I'm moving to Ludington, Michigan.
@ that’s just a little over an hour from Traverse City, MI. It’s a beautiful place here, you have to visit during the Cherry festival in July

Hi Kim! You will be getting the Feb Kit. So, if you want the January kit, you will need to purchase it from the shop. Thanks for joining Patreon! 😊😊💜💜
@lifeinenvelopes Thank you so much. I will order that kit. Thank you.🙂

I know it's frustrating! I'm working on making sure that everything is fair for all of us.
Why #2 I want to live in a new house.
Remove any reference to the ex-husband so it focuses only on the future and leaves any reference of him in the past.
Your credit card payments should be under debt, I didn’t see them anywhere?
They are in my business budget. This is my family budget.
Great job. Just wondering why auto lease is under Bills instead of Debt? Eventually it will be paid off.
