Like everyone;s said, the KW sounded great on the mellower stuff and the MB was great where a bit of edge was called for. You however sounded bloody great all the way through, well played!
By the time the demos got to my speakers, it was very difficult to tell the difference. That's why I was very interested to hear how your playing experience was. By the way, your playing was simply outstanding. I always love hearing you play.
Close fall...agree on that the KW 1 is a bit warmer, maybe darker. It’s mostly a matter of taste. I used to always like the more brighter, modern edgy sound over darker more traditional sound, but nowadays I’m gravitating more towards some middle-of-the-road sound I think..Isn’t it so that the MB I has a bit faster, more precise articulation? That is always nice both listening and play wise!
Both sounded great and could do it all. The MBI had more laser beam like projection, while the KWI was wider but still great, both had different strengths MBI better on Streetlife, KWI on Sam Butera. I think the MBI is more different from your Slant Sig, so maybe that's why it's more interesting.
Turns out, you sound like what you sound like, no matter the mouthpiece. It's just which one makes it easier!
Thanks for the demo. They sound very similar, but the KW1 seems to have a tiny bit more projection and clarity than MB1.
Love, Love, Love KW1 Turbo & MB1 Turbo,,just slight indifference on KW1 Turbo so infinite.
Great video Nigel
Sounds great Nigel. Initially I thought I preferred the KW1 but as you went on I preferred the MB1, great all around sound.
Interesting. So no inconsistencies you can share with us??
Both great🌞

Oh cheers Pat! Lots of support for the KW which surprised me - I really like the MB!
I liked the MB1, until Flight of the Bumble Bee. Then I preferred the KW1. Therefor my choice is both. :)
MB1 Turbo for me Nigel bit more power in it ,cheers Kev

Thanks Don! It sounded a lot better on my end I think and particularly good as a clean signal into my DAW (music software).
Man without a doubt the KW1 turbo. Just has a warmer sound. Also it seems that that the MB1 had some breakup when pushed.
Cool, thanks Robert.
Not going to lie, difficult to tell much difference not being in person. Both sound great though.

Cheers Mats, good point about the articulation too - I do think the MB had the edge with that.
If the idea is that they see their interpretation. It is very good
The KW1 is a bit smoother and darker while the MB1 has a bit more bite and brightness to it. I definitely prefer the MB1.

I like them all. how much do they cost
I think they’re about $290 US. Check them out on Gary’s website here: sugalmouthpieces.net/directory/product/tenor-mb-i-mouthpieces/
I also have a Gary Sugal wood mouthpiece. I prefer my Guardala King
Cool. I haven’t tried that one.
KITurbo gets it for me
Did he send you the. SC III TAM in Alto. Just want to get an idea what you think if you did a review
Hey Vinny, no I didn’t try that one.
When can we hear the MB2? I was just looking at these online a couple weeks ago while I’m waiting for my tenor to ship
Wondering what a jazz solo over Flight of the Bumblebee would sound like, probably using modal backing track
Sounds like a fun challenge!
I don't know if he said which cane I use in each one
Prefer the KW1. Although they are similar it seemed to have a slightly fatter sound.
0:50...did anybody else notice the Zebra saxophone?
Ha! It’s getting plenty of use too!
Nigel can make a piece of bamboo sound great, It's not the mouthpiece. It's the person behind the mouthpiece. My mouthpiece Is a guardala King
No question it's the KW1 turbo
Really couldn’t hear any difference .. both sounded great
the sound has not changed with any of the mouthpieces
MB1 sounds better in my opinion
I been playing for 7 years and I think that the 60% is the player, and the 40% is the Mouthpiece
what you guys think.?
The answer isn’t just in the mouthpiece for sure, but it can help you get the sound you have in your mind.
3d sounds stuffy
