wow, this is really incredible. As a ham radio guy, this kind of basic antenna mod is something that we all do to triple our signal strength. What's also great with this kind of antenna is that not only does the transmitter have gain increase, but the signal it receives as well. But you probably know all that. Such a neat video and thank you for sharing.

  • @keefmeister77

Here's my Mini SE / Yagi experience: the Yagi antennas alone did little, max range (usually over flat, dense swampy forests) stayed at about .75 miles out. The Yagi parabolics and antennas more than doubled the range, 2 days ago it went 3383 meters (2.1 miles) out, which broke my previous record by 800 meters. Once I forgot to put on the antennas and it went over 2000 meters out with just the parabolics. So I say use both antennas and parabolics and learn how to to keep the controller continually pointed right at the drone.

    2) If flown from the ridge and that's the set altitude can you fly what would be negative down into the canyon or would you get some kind of error?
    Thanks

    • @DadRandom
      @DadRandom  3 года назад +1

+Lucky Larry your altitude is determined by the takeoff point, not the geographical. The drone has no way as of now to know the terrain. LiDAR is on its way. Soon. This information will be known by more pricey drones. Planning for flights is always detailed out by first understanding the place you are flying and making decisions based on your chosen takeoff point.
      Hope this answers the question.

Ive been tossing the idea of getting the se drone or the mini 2, most of my flying would be in rural areas but I worry about signal strength with lots of trees and hills .
The yagi antenna in the radio world is used to focus the radio signal in a certain direction , radio operators have the antenna installed on a rotating mast and the controller has 360 degree indicator to show where the signal is being directed... So if those antennas really do work like a yagi then facing the drone would be beneficial , the weak part of the signal would be off to the sides but directly behind you would be the second strongest direction ....

I'll tell you what, the thing I almost hate about mini 2 is it's flight distance. It's transmission system way outranges it's flight capabilities.

Ya I got a mini 2 and a spark and thinking about selling them and buying a mini 3 or mavic 3

      @@w.e.s. well a mavic 3 costs WAY more, and a mini 3 doesn't exist

@@lunaticfpv17 it'll exist in 2 months...pre-order is about to come out. I believe if u bought the mavic 3 for what it's worth u wouldn't need to buy another drone for the next 5 to 8 years. Ull spend that in 8 years on cheap drones if ur really hardcore into them. I wouldn't buy a drone though just for a trip...

I bought my son a mini se...i ahve an original mavic pro I bought in 2017 and its still going strong. I get 8000 meters before any glitches..and up to 8600 before video dies...i bought the add on antennas for the SE..these and parabolic...just like on my mavic..they really didnt work.
The title saying just like occusync?? Definitely not..ive got 560 flights on my mavic pro... And I wish the SE would work on my Mavic remote..the original mavic remote displays info without signal

    No, no.. no..
Yagi its just array director for more gain, more directive anttena.
Thats just passive antenna to inductive driven antena on your remote control.
Occusync its technologi able to choose cleanest chanel in two band between 2.4 and 5.8 Ghz
