wow, this is really incredible. As a ham radio guy, this kind of basic antenna mod is something that we all do to triple our signal strength. What's also great with this kind of antenna is that not only does the transmitter have gain increase, but the signal it receives as well. But you probably know all that. Such a neat video and thank you for sharing.
Here's my Mini SE / Yagi experience: the Yagi antennas alone did little, max range (usually over flat, dense swampy forests) stayed at about .75 miles out. The Yagi parabolics and antennas more than doubled the range, 2 days ago it went 3383 meters (2.1 miles) out, which broke my previous record by 800 meters. Once I forgot to put on the antennas and it went over 2000 meters out with just the parabolics. So I say use both antennas and parabolics and learn how to to keep the controller continually pointed right at the drone.
Facts i have the Ruko f11 Gim 2. And i got the combo and you're absolutely correct. ✊🏿💪🏿✊🏿💪🏿. Using them as one is best! Sure using Yagi alone is great and vice versa. But using Yagi and parabolic together is EVEN A BETTER.
I use the yagis on the original Mini And I'm able to get absolutely great range with no issues even up to 2 mi out with no video cutouts even in a Wi-Fi congested area I've sworn by them for the past year
I have had the SE now for a couple of months to replace my original Mini And the SE is at least a 30% better improvement over the original which was an awesome drone and its own respect...
I want a set of them, there awesome range, and thanks for heads up on not butting the yagis on till done pre flight check ect. Excellent flying, thanks for the beautiful views. Quality!
Glad to see that you finally flew with a Yagi. Been flying with them on my Mini for about a year and a half now and I won't fly without them. BTW for those who are wondering I'm not Craig the spotter 😁
I saw a video where he flew out 21,000 feet (4 miles) stock antennas, similar terrain, I don't understand why reception would be a problem, especially as that was the absolute limit of time and battery.
Excellent info. I'd still recommend spending the addtional $150.00 for The Mini 2 though. It's a refined version of The SE. Simply smoother and doesn't have that occasional glich of an unexpected "Spaz". Don't get me wrong. I love my "Little Work Horse". (The SE).
These antenna don't actually connect to anything so any signal improvement should be minimal and yagi antennas are definitely directional just like the parabolic antenna.
Many Thanks for this great video. You sold me on the mini SE. Am looking at the Yagis, which one shall I buy? There's 5.7ghs and 2.4ghz. Assuming it's the 5.7ghs?
Have you got FCC or CE transmisssion on your Mini SE? In Europe, CE is mandatory, as well as 5.6 GHz. Maximum range without any problem: 500 meters (1600 feet). Even with "yagis" and mirrors. Is there anyway to change that?
Lots of good points in this one. The clam shell vs yagi distinction was one I hadn't considered. And great scenery of course. I'm visiting Alaska next year and am debating amongst myself whether to get a Mini for the trip.
thank you for this amazing test video. this area is absolute ideal for the range test. anyway, palm landing is the most ideal for this mini drone. I have my mini 2 gimbal is often stuck and wobbling because of landing on a dusty area. :(

Hello! Nice upgrade product. I’ve heard that the WiFi struggles with water, as in signal issues through trees because of water content. Would these help overcome this issue? Snow on the trees might just be too much? Thanks
Great video. I recently lost the Mavic Mini 1 to the Pacific ocean and I am looking at picking up the SE. I noticed at the 2:00 mark you mentioned you were going with the Mini 2 battery today. Are you suggesting that you can use the Mini 1 battery as well? I have two Mini 1 batteries left from my fly more combo, so if they can be repurposed for the SE that would be great. Thanks

No, the mini 1 can’t fly with both batteries. The SE has the upgraded motors, props, electronics. I went out a super long way. 12000 feet with the Mini 1. I could do 14000 feet with the mini SE. No, I would own a mini 2 if I already had the mini 1. This drone for $299 nobody can touch it for a beginner drone.

Ive been tossing the idea of getting the se drone or the mini 2, most of my flying would be in rural areas but I worry about signal strength with lots of trees and hills . The yagi antenna in the radio world is used to focus the radio signal in a certain direction , radio operators have the antenna installed on a rotating mast and the controller has 360 degree indicator to show where the signal is being directed... So if those antennas really do work like a yagi then facing the drone would be beneficial , the weak part of the signal would be off to the sides but directly behind you would be the second strongest direction ....
