@@ThePurringJournal Absolutely agree! I have had several domestic shorthairs, tabbies and calicos, have one tuxedo now (Gretchen), also a Russian Blue (Memphis) who is my first breed cat and I adopted from a friend of a friend.
I’ve never owned a cat before because my dad is allergic. My dad sadly passed away a few days ago and I guess to cope my mom and I went out to go buy a cat for my birthday today. I got a dark Smokey domestic shorthair. My mom got a Siamese. Both are very pretty
Same 😭 I have a brown tabby and an orange and white cat. My Tabby is the sweetest little thing and just wants to cuddle all the time, and the orange one is hilariously cantankerous and has the loudest meow I've ever heard. He hates cuddling but I've managed to get him used to it at least. They're bffs
2:54 No wonder my cat is still kicking and active, even though he’s almost 20 years old. My dad picked him up as a kitten in 2006, and he used to be a stray cat, by the way. Now, he’s all about protecting his turf (our house) from other stray cats. For some reason, he’s totally cool with female cats-maybe he’s a bit of a playboy. He even calls them inside the house! But male cats? Nah, he’s not having it. He’s always ready to throw down whenever he sees one.
😻🥰👍 Very good 👍 info on short hair cats. I’ve always have had a cat 🐈 I’ve had a short hair indoor Calico cat live to 20 years old & a black long hair ( that looked like a Maine Coon ) indoor live for 17 years old ! 🐈⬛ 😻 And now have a orange & white cat 🐈!
With my parents we had a cat that almost lived with us for almost 18 years. He was our 1st cat. He was sweet and friendly when he got very old. He was so laidback to other cats, too.
I can confirm some/most/all of these facts Idk if all of these are accurate for me or not, but I can say that I can relate to these facts, atleast some. My cat doesn’t overeat. My cat named Tabby is a domestic short hair cat and she likes so lay in the sun, likes both dry and wet food. She is pretty playful! Tabby’s name was inspired by her fur color which is a mix of tabby and calico.
I'm a single mom of 2 children. Both of my kids have 2 DSH kittens (5 months old) and they're brothers: The oldest is a ginger (orange)~>my oldest child's and white cat & the younger kitten is black and white~>my youngest child's. Both of my kids adore their kittens and bonded with them. The kittens are very affectionate and smart. We love both of our kittens very much.
Those cats are the most common household cats here in Philippines it called "Philippine short haired" or "Puspin" short for "pusang pinoy" which means "Philippine Cat" in english.
Me and my partner adopted one about 2 years ago, she’s 7 now and was fine for months but suddenly developed asthma recently. I don’t know if it’s because she’s a bit overweight or because some kind of allergen has caused it. Just seems strange. We got her some medication and now she’s been fine, no wheezing or anything.
*I have three DSH cats: a white, blue-eyed male cat (weighs 5.5 kilos); a calico female cat (weighs 4.5 kilos); and a ginger male kitten (he’s just around 2.20 kilos). One is adopted, and the other two are rescued.* 🐱🐈😸
I have one. His name is seger. He is loving. Snuggly, affectionate. And cute. He is 9 and he was born on April 25, 2014 he is the black and brown kind. I used to have another one and her name was maggie.
I wouldn't say shorthaired is a favorite for me. I love my cat nice a nd fluffy, like one of the best ones I had, Chiiyata. He was orange with white from chin to belly and on paws. I also had a couple of black fluffy cats. I love a cat that's black and fluffy!
They certainly can be! But every cat is different. In my opinion, domestic shorthairs have the widest range of personalities since they come from such mixed origins. When it comes to affection, the most important thing to do is to socialize the cat as soon as possible, no matter the breed.
I had a 18 year old domestic shorthair he was named skooter and a tabby named herb and earlier this morning skooter was found in our bathroom on the ground in the basement and he was still and just not moving so we brought him upstairs and we all held him and my mom was holding him when he took his final breaths before he stopped moving which was when he had passed it was at around 8 am
They are not a "mix of breeds." Purebred cats (that is, cats deliberately bred by humans to create and maintain a specific look) are a recent phenomenon and account for only a small percentage of the world's cats. The domestic shorthair is simply the descendant of cats brought to North America by Europeans -- none of its ancestors were ever "pure breeds" because none of its ancestors were ever deliberately bred by humans.
Do you have a Domestic Shorthair?
Yes I do, Her name is Astrid and she is 16 weeks old (3+months)

Oh! Why are they known as lower class?
Just got a 3 month old domestic shorthair
Yes, I do, I think I've always had them. I find cats, cats find me. A good match.
We can't imagine a life without cats! :)

Sorry to hear about your father. How are the cats doing?
Yes I have an Orange tabby and he is a handful to say the least! He is unlike any other cat I have ever had!
Aww, we love orange tabby cats! We actually have a video about orange tabbies too if you want to check it out.

They are furry teddy bears, that can’t stop your love and have stiletto claws.
Name recommendation: Taser-face
What a purrfect description! 😺
😮🤣😂🤣🏆 Taser-Face?!?!
@@tytipton6346 it’s metaphorical and what strikes fear in the hearts who hears it.
I have 2 tuxedo household shorthairs. Both are she-cats. The 1st one is Bluey, the 2nd one is Felicity.
Those are beautiful names!
I did have a calico tabby with 4 white socks and, gone in March, a black one. They became almost 15 years old and 20 years old...
😺😺
The orange and white cat around 1:30 reminded me of my cat Marmalade. Short for Orange Marmalade.

My Domestic Shorthair needs time by herself but when she’s ready she’ll accept affection
We have a black dsh , a half Himi ( we know her genetics on her moms side ) and we just lost our Persian .
Please can you help me i have domestic shorthair cat She eats and drinks normally, but she's become idle But she sleeps a lot Is that normal?
Hi Abdelali, we are not medical experts, so we recommend contacting your veterinarian as soon as possible.
Your cat is feeling bored..
Domestic Short Hair cat’s are the best cats in the world 🌎 because they are so kind to everyone

:( So sorry about skooter
In the Netherlands, those would be considered: An European shorthair.
And the American shorthair is mostly called: British shorthair.
That's interesting! Thank you for sharing. :)
@@ThePurringJournal more than welcome:)
Are they also called tabbies?
GOOD KITTIES!!
They also called "Boncot" in Malaysia..😅😆
si ho un tigrato scuro.. con due grandi macchie bianche sulla pancia..
sono sicuramente molto intelligenti..
Ginger tabbies... Mine is talkative. He meows a lot! So to ginger people, in my experience. There must be a genetic relationship.
So like all humans all are mixed breed.
Good point!
Not all
Puspin or Domestic Shorthair are also the most popular cat in the philippines
My black DSH has more personality than any other cat I’ve met
I have 2 black female domestic shorthaired cats
im getting 1
I can barely even find any cats besides domestic short hair
You don’t own a cat, the cat owns you.
No I convinced my cat I own them 😂

Domestic short hairs are the feline equivelant of a Mutt.
Interestingg fact about cats: they come in different colours
😼🙀😻
If they were hardworking, they'd take out the garbage.
But can you?
Philippine cats 🇵🇭
I have a domestic short hair cat his name is ginger😊
American Domestic shorthairs/mediumhairs can live to be 27 yrs. old. The longer they’re forced to stay indoors the shorter the lifespan….
