    One night flipping the cable box and recording VHS in the 80s and this movie came on A&E (fricken Animal Farm cartoon came on next). I saw this scene and this song... I was hooked on the Gentrys A few weeks later the toy company Worlds of Wonder released those""Little Boppers" toys commercial with Keep on Dancing as the soundtrack ...little Teddy Ruxpins dancing around 😃

    I was always a huge WWF/WWE fan, & I always knew & loved the song "Keep On Dancing" from oldies stations, then in the '80s we found out that Jimmy Hart had been in the Gentrys -- But back in those pre-internet, pre-Google, pre-RUclips days, it was hard to find photos of the Gentrys & even harder to figure out which Gentry was Mouth Of The South because of his beard & sunglasses...But once you know which one he is, you can totally see it

    The best publicity a lot of these American garage bands got (if they couldn't get on Dick Clark) was being the "house band" in a 60s "beach" movie.. Of course, I say that, and then I recall seeing a "British" garage band called the Animals, who had a little bit more fame, singing "See See Rider" in one of these kind of "beach" movies, too

    OMG I just saw the movie this morning. Very corny BUT... the bands in it surprised me. I had not seen this movie before. This group....was too much. The matching outfits. The hair. I was 13. So I never saw it back then. Don't think I ever saw it...until now. I do remember The Animals. Had a slight crush on Eric. SO totally forgot about The Castaways. Heard "Liar, Liar"....had to find that band on here. Wonder if I can find any cd's. If I come across any albums ... I'll grab them up. Such a silly fun time in life back then.

    • @Charlesvermont1966
      @Charlesvermont1966 Год назад

      This was most definitely shot before the fame of the Monkees (but not released until 1967 for reasons unknown). I'd say Nov. 1965. If you look carefully, in the movie it is clearly Xmas time. There are other tell-tale clues as well to pinpoint the date when this move was filmed. E.g., John Steele was still in the Animals when this was filmed, but he was canned from that group in Dec. '65.

    • @treadman28
      @treadman28  Год назад

      @@Charlesvermont1966 You're absolutely right. It was shot in November 1965 under a different title The Girl in Daddy's Bikini. It sat on the shelf until 1967 when Roger Corman, who financed it, unloaded it to AIP. AIP retitled it It's A Bikini World and passed it off as a Beach Party sequel since that series had wound down the year before and was one of their more profitable franchises.
