  • Wrestling Bios Presents - The Career of Jimmy Hart - The Mouth of The South
"The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart is one of the most memorable managers not only in the the WWE, but all of professional wrestling. His became known worldwide, with his outrageous suits and his prop of choice, the megaphone. Jimmy's contributions to wrestling go beyond just being a manager, as Jimmy Hart was also responsible for some of the best theme music in the wrestling business, writing theme songs such as the Shawn Michaels entrance theme and the nWo Wolfpac song in WCW.
Jimmy Hart's main love has always been music. He was part of a succesful band known as The Gentrys, garnering over a million sold records during his music career. When High School buddy Jerry "The King" Lawler needed someone to record some backing vocals, Jimmy Hart was the man for the job. This brought Hart into the CWA in Memphis, where he would begin a wrestling career that took him to the WWF, all the way to WCW and back again. Jimmy Hart would manage some of the biggest and greatest names in wrestling, from The Hart Foundation to Hulk Hogan.
In this mini documentary from Wrestling Bios, we take a look at The Career of The Mouth of the South Jimmy Hart. Topics covered include:
    - Jimmy Hart's early life
    - The Gentrys and the band's early success
    - Jimmy Hart arriving in Memphis CWA to manage (and eventually feud with) Jerry Lawler
    - Hart's role in the Andy Kaufman vs Jerry Lawler feud
    - Jerry Lawler recording and releasing the song "Wimpbusters"
    - Jimmy Hart's First Family of Wrestling
    - The WWF debut of Jimmy Hart
    - Every wrestler that was managed by Jimmy Hart, including The Hart Foundation, Dino Bravo, The Honky Tonk Man, Money Inc., Greg Valentine, The Mountie and more
    - Jimmy Hart following Hulk Hogan to WCW
    - The WWE / WCW theme songs written and produced by Jimmy Hart
    - Much More!

I met Jimmy at an autograph signing to promote a WCW Thunder show. Literally almost nobody showed up. I told him how much I loved watching him in USWA and we started chatting about wrestling history. I had been there talking with him for nearly a half hour when I started to feel like I might be bothering him. I said something to the effect of, "Well...I better let you get back what you're here to do." To which he replied "If you're not busy, man, just stay and talk with me." I was about to cry, lol! I stayed there the whole 3 hrs he was scheduled to be there. Only maybe 5 or 6 other people showed up, got an autograph, and left. We talked the whole time. When he had his assistant go get him a drink he asked what I wanted and got me one as well. He gave me 3 WCW shirts before he left, thanked me for spending the time with him (thanked ME!) and took down my information so he could leave tickets for me at the box office. He left 4 tickets of which I only used 2 and gave the other 2 to people outside the arena. I've met several wrestlers and managers over the years very briefly (mostly autograph signings), but this was amazing and I'll never forget it!

Jimmy is known as one of the nicest guys in “the business”. I met him at a con a couple years ago and he was super nice, immediately handing me his megaphone so I could get a picture. He is also one of the few clean-living guys in wrestling, never having smoked, drank, or done drugs, something I’ve heard confirmed by other wrestlers. In the late 80’s WWF, he was reportedly the only person in the locker room not doing any of that stuff.

Jimmy Hart was the best heel manager ever. He came out with his protegees and you knew that the show will be great, whether it was a prime time event or a pre-show. He was the manager you loved to hate, you didn't just dislike him, you hate him. With a passion. But at the same time you wanted to see him, you didn't want him to go away, you wanted him to be there so you could see just what he did today so you could hate him more.
Back when I was a kid, I was always happy when he couldn't hide behind his wrestlers anymore and was whimpering for mercy, but at the same time I wanted him to run away so he wouldn't get hurt. :)

His best work was in Memphis before he was in the WWF. He used a cane instead of a megaphone.

I met Jimmy in 99 or 2000 at a toy show in Orlando, he was walking the floor signing free autographs to promote Legends of Wrestling video game. We talked for a couple of minutes and seemed genuinely humbled that I knew he had done some iconic music. He was gracious and very fun to talk to.

Either you love him or hate him. Jimmy hart is one 1⃣ of the finest managers you're not going to find anyone better than him. He has helped a lot of people with their careers he has helped Jerry lawler and Hulk hogan he managed in Memphis Tennessee and in WCW and wwf he managed jos Leduc and Terry funk and Austin idol, Tommy rich, and many others. Thumbs up for Jimmy hart. I had to admit he is one of the finest managers in the business
